We were at a community gathering the other day and there was this really good cake and someone said it was death by chocolate, I thought death by chocolate was more of a pudding. Anyway I want to replicate the cake, but am not sure of all the ingredients, has anyone heard of this and do you have a recipe. As far as I can tell it was a very moist chocolate cake with carmel sauce on top, then it was covered in coolwhip and topped with bits of candy that I think may have been Skor bars.

Anyone?

Don't have the recipe, but it sounds fabulous!

If you find a recipe and try it, be sure and let us know how it turns out:D

I had a dessert once called Death by Chocolate.

It was a pie shaped slice of very chocolate ice cream, dipped in a hard chocolate shell. Then it had hot chocolate syrup drizzled on it, with chocolate shavings and chocolate whipped cream.

Thanks dmslush! I found a ton like you said. Will be trying one of them out next weekend, will let you know if it is any good.

Thanks.

Debbi,
This is a little off-topic but I got to chuckling while reading your post and thought I'd share:

Two years ago, when my DD was 15, she was with a bunch of her friends and some parents on a birthday mini-vacation in honor of one of the girl's birthday. They stopped at an ice cream parlor. One of the flavors was "Death By Chocolate". All of the girls were obviously watching their weight, because they all ordered baby cones.....

When it was my DD's turn to order, she says she was distracted by the VERY good-looking hunk working behind the counter. She blurts her order out: "Death By Chocolate, Baby!"

Everyone of course cracked up and she wanted to fall through the floor. The guy just laughed, dipped her cone and handed it to her and said, "Here you go, honey!"

Let me know how the cake turned out - what a way to go, huh? Chocolate heavenly bliss!

the original death by chocolate cake was by marcel DeSauliniers
owner of the Trellis Restaurant in Williamsburg, VA and former TV food network star
Death by chocolate has ganache on it & is to die for
there may be knock offs but their is only one original death by chocolate
The food at his restaurant is pretty good too
I believe he has a recipe book out with the recipe

Marcel Desaulniers has a cookbook 9all chocolate recipes!) called Death by Chocolate. I've made quite a few of the desserts:D His original recipe for Death by Chocolate is the last recipe in the book. It is quite lengthy, otherwise I'd type it in here. The recipe calls for cocoa meringue, Chocolate Mousse, A Chocolate Brownie Layer, Chocolate Ganache, Mocha Mousse, and a Mocha Rum sauce. He was at a United Way function I attend every year, and a local restaurant prepared some other recipes from this book. If you are a chocolate fiend like I am you should definitely add it to your cookbook collection!!!

Well here is the update I promised, the cake came out good, but not exactly like the one I tasted, but it went over well none-the-less.

I started with a Dunkin Heins chocolate cake mix. After it was cooked and cooled I poured a jar of carmel sauce over the top and topped it with coolwhip. Then I crunched up Skor chocolate toffee bars and sprinkle it over the top. I thoroughly chilled the cake and then served.

CHOCOLATE BODY PAINT:D:D:D
Now this is fun!

It's not the size of your paintbrush – it's what you do with it that counts! You're bound to create a work of art that is decadent and positively indecent – but only if you're doing it right.

And if it's not, who cares – just lick it off and start again. Once your artistic juices are flowing, bin the brush, and go straight for the finger painting.
