PLEASE STOP TALKING!!! I have completely given up on riding this ride unless it's almost closing time and I can enjoy a boat by myself. For the last two months, every single time I go to ride, I am stuck on a boat surrounded by people that would rather talk to each other loudly about random things (like last night, talking about home remodeling) than to enjoy this amazing experience. Please just think of others around you! Imagine if it was someone's first time riding this ride, and that was the experience you just gave them. So please, PLEASE!! Just stop talking and let everyone enjoy the ride.

I experience this issue as well. It gets really annoying. It seems like everyone in the boat wants to either talk or take flash pictures right in front of me. Not that I expect everyone to be dead silent...one time there was this little girl behind me that had never been on the ride before and was scared of the drops. After we did them, her mom kept saying "you did it! you did it!" and then other people on the boat joined in. It was cute!

Agree, and could be said of a lot of rides, not just Pirates. I like to "Immerse" myself when I'm riding the attractions, so as to temporarily escape reality, and other riders can really distract. Unfortunately, the people who need to hear this probably don't read these boards.

I agree.
Can you please tell me if the singing donkey has finally returned to his barn?

Tia

Ya the screamers mainly bother me when there's kids on the ride because sometimes it's their first time and they don't understand that the ride isn't scary, but the screamers make it scary for them

We've done HM more than once and my son STILL freaks out in the stretching room because of all the screaming. It it so bad that even though he really loves the ride, he refuses to do it because of the noise.
:(

Maybe try his using ear plugs. That way he can still hear what's happening in the portrait room, while not having to hear too much volume.

I hate the talking and when people keep splashing one another and then they splash me too. One time when I was riding there was a group at the front of the boat and in the back and they kept splashing each other through the entire ride. I was sitting in the middle of the boat. I was not happy and made that clear to them. Not a pleasant time on Pirates!

I treat dark rides like a movie theater. Generally I will remain quiet, though if I do speak it will be a whisper and it will only be about something relevant to the ride (like pointing out a certain detail to a friend). This will be kept to a minimum. People are there to enjoy the show!

Kristin --

I know exactly what you mean, and unfortunately one time I was with a friend (not a super-close friend) who was a "ride talker" and I was mortified because I thought that someone else on the boat would tell 'us' (even though I was not talking) to shut up. I was so grateful that they didn't, but I couldn't have blamed them if they had. As soon as we got on the boat and began sailing past the Blue Bayou, the friend was telling me about a particularly harrowing ordeal she had gone through, and she was not whispering. She was talking in a very audible voice. I didn't say anything. I didn't want to seem unsympathetic to what she was telling me, and I WAS interested in hearing about it -- again, it was quite harrowing -- but I didn't want to talk about it on a ride with other people listening, nor did I want to bother other people. If I had told her that other people could hear her, she would have said that she didn't care and probably would have kept talking even louder. So I would just kind of nod here and there and then look straight ahead at the ride in hopes that she would finally realize that I didn't want to talk right then. Eventually my friend stopped talking, after a while, but I felt like other people in the boat were ready to toss us off.

The water splashing is kind of icky because you don't know if a few boats in front of you, somebody threw up in the water. It happens occasionally. I've read Cast Member tales online of that sort of thing happening. It's not pool water. Bleh!

Thankfully we didn't have that issue in Pirates on our last trip...but the screamers in HM, that is uncalled for IMO. Heck if you want to scream that much let me know while in line, i will happily stomp your foot to at least give you a valid reason to scream:rolleyes1

Yeah. Or let little Johnny go potty in the bayou. :faint:

The screamers on hm bother me more. My kids love hm, but sometimes the screaming freaks them out and ruins the whole experience.

For pirates, it depends on the type of noise and talking. If they are singing along, fine. If they are talking about differences between now and 20 years ago, fine. If they are planning or recapping their day, no.

I don't mind when people scream a little when the lights go out in HM, if it actually startled them (i.e. first timers), but the deliberate and VERY LOUD screaming is pretty unnecessary. I haven't noticed this as a huge issue at WDW, only late at night when it is mostly the "hardcore" crowd. Is it worse at DL? I have only seen HM Holiday at DL (one day I will be there when it is normal).
