Dear Riders Of Pirates...

I hate the talking and when people keep splashing one another and then they splash me too. One time when I was riding there was a group at the front of the boat and in the back and they kept splashing each other through the entire ride. I was sitting in the middle of the boat. I was not happy and made that clear to them. Not a pleasant time on Pirates!
Is there a sign letting guests know not to do this?

I feel your pain... I once had a couple of ladies behind me talking nearly the entire ride about relationship stuff... I had to turn around to asks them to be quite.
How did they respond?

I don't mind people who sing or are enjoying the ride. It's people talking about non Ride things that annoy me. At universal we were on the back stage tour and this person was doing a work conference. So annoying.

I must be one of the lucky ones who haven't gotten this experience at all during my past three Walt Disney World trips. Then again, we mostly used fast pass for my third trip while my two trips we're mostly quiet. (This was before Iphones and Texting becoming a big deal)

Agree with the OP and the other posters about talkers, screamers, splashers, people who MUST photograph/video everything, people who think profanity is funny, and... my favorite: couples who make out (groping, heavy breathing, the works) on POTC. Get a room, people! And have some common courtesy for those around you.

Last time on Pirates, the guy right in front of us was talking about how Johnny Depp killed River Phoenix by giving him bad drugs... I still haven't googled it to read what the rumors are, cuz I wouldn't be surprised and don't particularly care.

I don't mind when people scream a little when the lights go out in HM, if it actually startled them (i.e. first timers), but the deliberate and VERY LOUD screaming is pretty unnecessary. I haven't noticed this as a huge issue at WDW, only late at night when it is mostly the "hardcore" crowd. Is it worse at DL? I have only seen HM Holiday at DL (one day I will be there when it is normal).

I hear the "screamers" every time I go to HM at DL, so I'd say it's definitely more prevalent at DL.

talking along with the narration, to the point where I couldn't hear it.

You reminded me of another irritation tuesday: People were talking OVER the narration of the fireworks AND the opening of the park narration (60th anniversary OPENING NARRATION, which I left my house at 4am to hear)

For the "splashers", I usually just tell the story of what happens on Pirates at WDW when someone decided to stick their hand in the water. Having the article saved on my phone helps when they become naysayers. Really freaks the pre-teen crowd out.

I believe someone lost their fingers. Upside is now they get a discount on manicures.
Lmao. :faint:

Ya I really don't understand the point in going on a ride to talk through the whole thing. On Wednesday, the guy talking behind me was so loud that his voice was literally vibrating my ear drum. I don't want to hear you talk about the hockey playoffs or your friends Club 33 visit! Just shut up and enjoy the ride

Lol, the last time I rode POC, I got very aquainted with McKayla and her idea that the animatronics were in fact real people and the real people eating dinner were "robots". She did not shut up for the whole ride. Her friends either. "Oh my god McKayla!!" echos in my brain.

Ugh!..... :faint:

I have had an issue at both WDW and DL this year with people who think they need to recite the entire narration. I did not come to either park to hear some random stranger talk over the narration of the ride. Yep - I have been to the parks a million times as well and I could recite everything as well. But I would NEVER do that!

A few weeks ago I was in Orlando for work and was so excited to be able to pop over to MK for 3 hours. I had it all planned - booked dinner at the Plaza, got a fast pass for Wishes (my favorite) and hopefully hop on something else before it was time to go. I LOVE wishes. I am not an emotional person in the least but I cry EVERY TIME I see wishes. Well I was so excited to see it, got my spot and wouldn't you know the chick behind me decided to LOUDLY sing the entire thing, thinking she was Kelly Clarkson or something. It ruined the whole experience and it was the first time I did not cry. She was so distracting that I could not even focus on the music.

Screamers and talking over the narration seems like a function of 'look how cool I am, I get to come to the park so much everything is old news to me!' attention seeking and general cluelessness in how they're impacting other people's enjoyment. I'll be interested to see the difference on HM when I go to WDW in November.

I had this happen on Tower at DHS...the people in front of me were LOUDLY overreacting and talking along with the narration, to the point where I couldn't hear it.

I actually shushed them, but they didn't hear me...
This happened to us at DLR. They were screaming so loudly and overreacting (they weren't really scared, just being obnoxious) before the ride even started! Scared my DD so badly she won't go back on ToT now. Not because of the ride but because their screaming upset her so much.

Oh geez, that's awful! People don't realize how scared kids can be on new rides, and how much stuff like that can make it worse...
