ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

Video of a worker at Walt Disney World mopping the floors of a restaurant at the Art Animation Resort and then cleaning the tables with the same dirty mop is gaining some attention.

Jesse Arias, the man who took the video, shared the video with Channel 9.

“Anybody with any kind of common sense can see that is unsanitary,” said Arias. “It’s just really disturbing that they were doing something like that and exposing us to diseases. There are thousands of people that walk those parks a day.”

Arias said the resort manager comped him for the cost of his hotel, but he said it still bothered him. So he started sending emails to Disney, but said he never got a satisfying response.

A spokesperson for the resort said when workers found out about the incident, they immediately took action.

The spokesperson said when Arias' second email went to the right person they responded within 24 hours and they also called him Friday afternoon.

The spokesperson added that it was an isolated incident.

Disney officials said the woman in the video is not a cast member, but works for a third-party vendor and she is no longer welcome on Disney property.

Paul Cook, a retired health inspector, said he had never seen anything like it.

“I would have immediately closed that place and told them you have to retrain your employees from properly cleaning, to sanitizing food service equipment and properly cleaning the floor,” Cook said.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website listed a few minor violations since the resort opened in 2012.

None involved the food service area.

Yuck. Sadly this is what you get when you start to contract out services to save $$. I've seen it happen here when hospitals started contracting out their cleaning and food services.

Disgusting. And certainly made me rethink our habit of unloading our trays onto the table before we eat. From now on the plates stay on the trays.

Spin off question- who cleans the trays?

Who knows? I have had my own rule for a while that if it gets off of the plate, it doesn't go into my mouth. Just ick.

Actually, I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised even if it was at a deluxe resort (or any non-Disney 5 star hotel)

One of CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company)'s documentaries a few years ago was called "The Dirt on Hotels". They checked in at various hotels (all kinds of stars) and had hidden cameras, and they caught on films all kinds of stuff we don't want to know about.. like for example, hotel maids would use those toilet brushes to clean tubs/sinks. They use the same cloth to wipe counters and glasses (the ones that are in the toilets). It was horrifying :S here is one related article to CBC's documentary if anyone is interested..

p.s. obviously they tested Canadian hotels only, but it wouldn't surprise me if this practice was basically worldwide.

Absolutely! I don't care where we are WDW, our local Starbucks, anything counter service, the food stays on a napkin or a plate, if it touches the table, it goes in the garbage.

I would be careful with QS utensils as well. Make sure you get a utensil that you have personally dispensed from the machine. I once saw a toddler at Capt. Cook's at Poly take all of the loose spoons from the spoon dispenser, put them in his mouth and back in the dispenser tray. No one was watching him! His grandmother then walked up and I let her know what happened and she threw them out, but the bottom of that dispenser tray wasn't sanitized - so gross. That was really the end of WDW QS for us.

If this could happen right out in front of guests, WHAT happens back in the kitchen!
