DeAnna's Wish Trip

The wish granters said she could not have a Disney Cruise and Disney World and that due to low funds they are limiting Disney Cruises. So that left Disney World.

Wish # 1 is GKTW at Disney with Lilo and Stitich Breakfast (although the wish granters said they do not do Character Meals - she still wished it and we will make it happen).

Wish # 2 is for Polynesian Resort at Disney World with Lilo Luau and Lilo and Stitch Breakfast.

So now we know that the cruise is not going to happen through MAW, I reserved a Disney Cruise today for next year. That way I have all year to pay for it . Also, DeAnna's tumor will eventually cause her to loose the use of her legs and we felt that DW was more important while she was still very mobile.

They asked for 3 sets of dates. My husband is a high school principal and I am a college professor. So...going during July (Professional Development and conferences for teachers) and going during the school year is out. We asked for early June (I know it may not happen then as it may be too soon). October (we have a 2 week break here from schools) or Christmas Break.

We received a choice of two dates in December. We can leave December 19 and move out of GKTW on Christmas day or leave the 20th and move out on the 26th. We are taking the 2nd choice to keep from moving on Christmas day. We did hear they can delay our flights home until the date we requested. We are planning to stay another 6 nights and fly home on 1-1-12.

Does GKTW do something special on Christmas?

Oh how jealous I am! To get to spend such a magical time at an already magical place would be so much fun. Christmas AND New Years! I hope you guys have such a special time.

I haven't been to GKTW but from reading other trip reports and pictures I've seen that they do have Christmas every week (like every wednesday or thursday...I can't remember which). I hope they have a huge festivity since you're going to be there through the actual Christmas time.

Suggesions please:

Our trip is not until the Dec 20th But I like to plan anyway. We did schedule a Lilo Breakfast on the 21st but that is all we have planned. We need to reserve the 2nd week where we will be staying. We are trying to decide if renting a house for the 2nd week might be a better option for our family of 6.

I have a few questions. We know we will bveling during a very busy time and want to make the most of our GKTW button to cut down on waiting. Also how difficult is it to get a GAC button and what benefits does it have? Does Universal Studios, Sea World or Diney respect the GKTW button during the 2nd week.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Welcome to this thread. There is nothing like adoption. I have read your thread as well. My heart goes out to your sweet girl.

DeAnna returns for Dr. Appointment Wed. to schedule surgery to remove the tumors in her nasal/sinus cavity. Her tumor in her brain has not grown since April (she had radioactive seeds placed in it) and is slightly smaller as the seeds eat the tumor from the inside. The nasal/ sinus tumors are causing sleep apnea and must be removed. I know many of you have been here but my heart is very heavy today. We moms with sick kids go through life on the outside as if everything is okay. But on the inside we can never get away from the worry. I just needed to say that to a group of people who would understand. We are hoping to have surgery done and recoved by December 20th!!

On a exciting note, we received the confirmation that the place tickets have been purchased today. We arrive in Orlando at 2:10 on December 20th and return home on Jan 2nd!!!!

Well It has been determined that DeAnna has a 2nd tumor in her nasal cavity. They are removing her nose and the tissue behind it on the 19th of October. They will take a bone from her ribs to replace and try to rebuild her nose. Her permanent teeth are loose so they are going to put braces on them until we can get a bone graft from her hip to support her upper jaw bone. However, we are going to wait until her December make-a-wish trip is over.

We are needing a distraction. Looking to see if anyone knows of websites (other than Disney, have been there numerous times) or videos that she can watch to plan her trip.

I know I don't comment much... but I do follow along! I am so sorry to hear about Deanna's new tumor. I cannot imagine what she goes through. Our prayers are with your family in the upcoming weeks and months ahead. I'm glad they are still sending her on her trip!

My kids LOVE playing games online. Club Penguin, Poptropica, we love Netflix, lots of apps on the ipad/ipods, Disney.com games, Nick Jr.com games, and lots of books!!

Back in the spring Shannon (revrob) made DeAnna this amazing Lilo dress. I forgot to post to this site. Anyway She is planning to be Lilo for her fall festival on Oct 28th.

She has surgery this Wednesday and I hope that she will be able to attend at least for a few hours. I suggested dressing our youngest son as Stitch and she said no I will just take the one that she received in the mail (from mommy2girlswv). So thankful for this site and the "new friends" we have made.
