DeAnna's Wish Trip

We received unpleasant news about Deanna after her MRI last week. I just didn't have the heart to post after her MRI. But I am more resolved to the situation now and will update. Her tumor has changed and has some unusual blood involvement. They are consulting with other physicians from other medical communities to see what our options are. One thought is to go after the tumor anyway, realizing that she would loose her ability to use her legs.

That being said and the fact we have not heard from our wish granting volunteers as yet (KY must really be backed up). We do not think a wish trip will be this summer. So, my husband and I have decided to take her to the beach this summer anyway. The closest beach areas are in Gulf shores/Destin area. We are going to create our own Lilo experience. Any ideas or suggestions as to where to stay and cost cutting ideas?

Hello..I dont know how I missed you but then again things here have been chaotic at best!!

Just reading through the posts and I wonder if you contact the MAW chapter and let them know about the changes with your daughter if that can get things moving a bit faster. I hope things do move along and that you get her wish to go to the beach. Please update when you can.

I don't have any ideas about the beaches but I wanted to let you know your beautiful daughter will be in my thoughts. (My two kiddos were adopted from Asia as well).

I hope the doctors are able to come up with a plan that will help your daughter. I am sorry you have to face those difficult decisions and will send you thoughts and wishes for peace and strength.(((hugs))))

I am so sorry there are changes. I would contact MAW and let them know what is going on. They can speed things up if they have too. HUGE HUGS

Just wanted to chime in that you should really contact your MAW chapter. Our paperwork got stuck on someones desk and they thought we had already been contacted so they were glad we called when we had not been contacted a few months after hearing she would get her wish. Also if it happening this summer is important and it really seems it is they need to know that.

I hope you are able to contact them soon and all her wishes come true.

So after a little prodding, I contacted MAW on Monday and today we received our packet in the mail with our wish granters information. Yeah!!!!

I hated to hear the news about DeAnna's tumor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Our two boys have duchenne muscular dystrophy. We would love to adopt a little girl from Asia. I am so in love with their culture. We have a local adoption agency so many people from our area have adopted children. It warms my heart when I see the families that are touched in such a positive way by these children. I just don't know where to start.
We had the same experience at first too with MAW. It was slow going but then I expressed why Christian needed to go sooner than later and they have really sped things up. The Atlanta chapter has been really backed up. We started in September of 2010 with MAW, saw the Volunteers for the first time a few weeks ago and they called Tuesday to say we could go a soon as next week if we wanted. That was way too short notice but now we are choosing three dates to go. Probably July, September or November.
Please keep us posted on how this are going and how she is doing.
THANKS FOR LETTING US FOLLOW ALONG:flower3:

Adoption has brought incredible joy to our lives. I would recommend it to anyone without reservation. To get started, I would simply contact and adoption agency to get information. At this point Chinese adoptions have long waits so if you can, you can get started then save as you go along to pay for it. I have mentored several families through the adoption process and would be thrilled to mentor another ;)

Oh I get teary eyed just thinking of being able to adopt a little girl. How long are the waits? I think I will call them and see what they say!! I'll let you know what I find out.

My aunt and uncle adopted a little girl from China. What a blessing she is. They had waited over 2 yrs and were able to go get her when she was 9 months old. She will be turning 4 this month. We spend a lot of time with them and love her to pieces...:lovestruc

We have our wish granters appointment!! It is set for May 24th!! We also received a very special package from someone today. I will take a picture and post tomorrow.

Joining along.. Don't know what took me so long. ha!

I can give you a little info about beaches.....If you get the choice definitely stay on a beach which is on the Gulf. I've been to Destin, it's a pretty good beach with a good family atmosphere. I've never been to Gulf Shores but most people that I know would choose to go there. A family friend lived there for awhile and said they would move back in a heartbeat if given the chance. I hear it's gorgeous with an old town feel and very family friendly. :)

You have a gorgeous family! We have a cousin who adopted a little girl from China named Piper and she is just precious. What a blessing these children become to these families. She has clubbed feet which sped things up for them a tremendous amount but she's just perfect in our eyes.

Hope you get dates soon.. I'll be reading to see. :)

We meet with the wish granters today! We will be driving about 40 mintues to meet the granters as there are not any in our region. DeAnna is so excited. She has picked out her outfit. She is going to wear the Lilo dress (revrob made for her) and take her Stitch (Mommy2girlswv) mailed to her. We bought new red flip flops and a big red flower to put in her hair. She said "she wanted the wishers to remember that she loves Lilo".

About the wish, yesterday AM she said she was going to still wish for a Disney Cruise with days at Disney world even though I read her the part from the MAW packet stating she cannot get that wish. At lunch, she said she would just wish for the cruise. At Dinner, she was only going to wish for Disney World and last night as I was tucking her in she said "Mom could I wish for Disney Land?, I've never been to California." The only consistency is that she wants to meet and eat with Lilo and Stitch.

So we shall see....
