I know there have been quite a few posts about dealing with food allergies, but so far everything I've read seems to be limited to one or two allergies. We are not sailing until May 2012, so I have some time to worry about this, but I have numerous food issues and I'm wondering how they'll be dealt with.

Has anyone else traveled DCL with a TON of dietary restrictions? I need to avoid soy, gluten, dairy, corn, all grains (rice, oats, etc), potatoes and all sweeteners (sugar, maple syrup, etc) except honey.

The good thing is I'm not picky at all : ) I'm happy with just a plate of meat and veggies, but I know all of their food selections seem to come covered in some kind of sauce. How troublesome is it to just get plain food at every meal?

I have a gluten intolerance and they were very accomodating. Most of my meals were plain meat, veggies, potato or rice without sauce. They included the sauce if they were SURE it didn't have gluten in it. If they were unsure, they just didn't include it. The first night you discuss your dietary restrictions with your server - they will have a heads up if you note it on your reservation. Each night, you'll order your meal for the next night which will speed up your dining. The first night might take a while longer than usual. I didn't get sick once the whole trip! When you go to the buffet, just ask to speak to the head chef or manager and they will walk you through the buffet and let you know what is ok to eat.

my only concern for you would be breakfast & dessert: you may want to contact dcl and request coconut milk or ice cream. I'm going on the dream in a few weeks. I keep vegan and gluten free when dining.

Thanks for the responses. I figured DCL would be very good about it. I'm just a bit worried because I have so many food issues . . . I wish it were just one or two things to worry about, but I'm not that lucky :confused3

I have many food allergies as well and I have been assured that DCL will work with me so that I can enjoy my cruise. They have a special meet/greet with food services right after you board so that you can discuss your special needs with personnel that will be on the ship for your entire cruise. It has been recommended that you meet with them right after check in and before the safety drill. I called other cruise lines and they were not really very helpful in discussing multiple food allergies. That's why we are going with a Disney Cruse because they were more accommodating. Hope this helps.

DS3 and DD1 also have multiple allergies: wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, nuts. I'm pretty confident that Disney will be accommodating. I haven't seen any other company more on top of food allergies than Disney, which is great!

I was on the PC cruise in January. i have a food allergy and the way it was dealt with was for me to order each dinner for the following night. The kitchen staff would then prepare my meal and modify it so i could eat it. On the last sea day we took a galley tour (book it if its available at Guest services as you board 18+) We toured the galley and they showed us the special separate section they have for the preparation of food allergy meals so they can ensure no cross contamination. I never had a problem except for the bread each night. The waiter would generally tell me if It contained the ingredients I am allergic to and then I would not eat it but the family could if they wanted to.

I had some issues on the dream regarding supplies. There was was rice milk and alternative ice cream (no coconut milk)
