Dealing with Heartbreak...

Keep busy. I was a bedside nurse during my worst break up and I picked up many extra shifts. Ex had nothing to do with work so there were no reminders there so it was very easy to get engrossed in my patients and their care and forget about the sadness plus I made a ton of extra $$.

If you can’t pick up overtime at your job, then volunteer.

Keep busy. That’s my best advice. And once in awhile give into your sadness and cry. Then play Gloria Gaynor’s song “I Will Survive”.

My mother always said “this too shall pass” and it does. My father-in-law always said “the world keeps turning” and it does.

I'm a big fan of both a theraputic cry and the occasional Ice Cream Therapy... extra points for hot fudge.

My sympathies to you, and sincere hopes that things improve.

You found out now that this was not a match. All your dreams w this one are gone. Grieve then be thankful you didn’t spend any more time in someone who is not the one. Someone who doesn’t think YOU are the one.

The sad thing was I thought he was MY one. He just wasn't ready for that commitment. He still wants to be friends, which is the hardest part.

You can choose NOT to be friends. If being close hurts too much, you can choose to say "No thanks" and no argument he makes is more important than "This hurts me too much right now."

He doesn't to get to decide the parameters of the relationship. He can decide that you're not the one for him. But he can't then decide that you need to stay on as one of his friends.

At this point, you're entitled to decide that he's out of your life, and he's got to respect that, just as you must respect his decision on ending your romantic relationship.

Currently I’m repainting 12 year old Christmas ornaments. I try to keep myself busy with projects.

It's summer. When you're done repainting for the day, get out into the sunshine. Put on your fitbit and get those steps in out in the sunshine. Sunshine is good for the soul.

You just have to hurt, no short cuts

This is something I've said many times. This is one thing I know for sure to be true. You just have to get through it and believe the whole time that it will get better even when it really doesn't feel like it will. I'm really sorry you are going through a rough time.
