We're having DD10's birthday party at home to save money and hopefully have more fun. I'm trying to come up with my own home version of "Deal or No Deal"--a show my DD loves. I'm thinking of filling the "suitcases" with candy or other small treats. I guess I'll need LOTS of treats to offer in trade for the contestant selling her suitcase. This is starting to sound more like Let's Make a Deal. Has anyone tried to come up with their home version? Any ideas?

You could try filling the cases with varying amounts of Disney Dollars and 'buy' her case with Disney Dollars if you have a trip coming up. You could also have a secret case game for the rest of your guests.

If she has chores do a week of no chores
she gets to stay up 2 hours longer
maybe a deluxe sleepover for up to four of her friends
you could double her allowance for one week

I really think this is a cute idea

I got a deal or no deal game for christmas-we laughed hysterically

we used a cell phone ring for the banker to call, my son got a watch in a square clear box-we used that for the no deal button

you could make paper lunch bags with #s on them for the suitcases(cheap)

fill with disney money
-split it up into the bags

surprise at the end-she wins all the dollars

depending how many barbies you have it the house-you could dress them up and make them stand next to the bags

let me keep thinking...........

Wow, Brenlexacamp, you are SO creative. I love the Barbie idea.

Maybe some of the suitcases can have the ingredients for the special snack I am serving (chocolate fondue).

Thank you so much.

If the birthday girl gets to be the contestant playing for the prizes, what do the guests get to do?

I'm having trouble imagining the fun for the guests watching the person who is already going to be receiving presents, choose between additional gifts from the parents who are hosting the party.

Are you thinking of letting multiple girls take a turn playing?

P.S. I LOVE the idea of setting this us with DD as a way of giving her some presents--the barbies by paper bags is hilarious.

A cheaped themed idea - you could make them t-shirts with the Deal or No deal logo.

I did a party for my daughter that was based on the Amazing Race. Her birthday was back in September and my daughter said someone was still talking about it the other day at school. Made me feel good.

I would probably not make as many cases because it would be too long for the others to wait. I'm assuming that they all get to take a turn. I would use monopoly money and have prizes that they could buy with the amount of money that they won. Prizes can be purchased at a dollar store for girls this age. I usually buy some candy, lipstick, nailpolish, hairbrushes. This sort of thing. They always love the prizes. They will get excited with what they will try to win.

The secret case game is the one where viewers text in their choice of which of the cases they think the money is in. The show chooses a random person who was right to win the money. The home version could be party favors in the cases and each person chooses the case they want. You can either have something in every case or a prize in just one. You may need multiples of the prize if more than one person picks the same case.

Mrs. Boz, I think you are on to something. I could limit it to maybe 8 "cases" with dollar amounts between $2 and $100. I'd use fake money and have my husband "call" on our intercom with offers. I guess I would have to have a prize bank--that could end up being expensive.

And I could still do the secret case idea with all of the cases full of things to dip in our chocolate fondue.

I'm so glad I posted here. You are full of great ideas.
