Deal on Refurbished Kindle Fire

Why do I come on this board.. There is always a great deal posted that I must have.....:rotfl:

I got a refurbished Kindle Fire last month, and I LOVE it. :lovestruc
Nothing beats lying in bed in the dark reading a book or watching Netflix.
I even use a free alarm clock app, and was able to make the numbers an awesome light purple color.
I tech. challenged, so that alarm clock color was a big deal to me. :goodvibes

Broke down and bought one. I think I'll give it to DH for Father's Day. He'll be so surprised (unless he finds the box first when it's delivered).

Guess what ds14 is getting for 8th grade graduation? My 2 youngest dds' have them, and I know he's love one (he's been reading on his ipod touch).

Yes, very tempting.
I have actually been thinking about going to Walmart today for the Nook Color deal. It's on sale for $169 + get a $30 gift card. And Staples has it on sale for $149 so I was going to price match. Total cost after price match + receiving gift card would be $119. And it seems easier to root with an sd card than trying to root the fire. (Once rooted I can access the Kindle app to read my current Kindle books.)

But the Fire is tempting. Hmm...decisions, decisions.:confused3

I just got mine. OP you are fast! I couldn't resist. I bought this to help with our VERY long drive to Florida from St. Louis.

Just bought one for my mom for mother's day, thank you OP!

Quick question -

Can you store movies on the actual fire? Or does it have to have internet access? I am asking this because I would LOVE to buy one of these (we have a regular kindle :lovestruc) so my DD could watch movies on the airplane or in the car.. Hence no internet access.

Help! :goodvibes :surfweb:

Maybe I should say that we have the kindle 3G, which includes free internet wherever we go, so it's super easy to upload books... Is the Fire this easy?

Just a heads up but starting tomorrow, Target is clearancing all of its Kindle's. They are no longer going to be carrying them and rumor has it that they will start at 30% off.

They are already gone. But thanks for the head's up about Target! In case I decide to get one for my mom for Mother's day!:goodvibes

They're 'gone' at the discount price. The refurbished Kindle Fire is still available at the regular price of $169.

And they ran the same special a few weeks ago.

I have a rooted Color nook, and I also had a Fire. The key word is "had". :) A rooted Nook Color is so much more capable than a Fire, plus the physical hardware is better. My Fire got shipped back for a refund.

For anyone not comfortable with rooting a Nook Color though, the Fire is a better choice. The stock software on the Nook Color is awful. With the root, it's awesome.

I did get the Nook Color yesterday. I love it so far! I'm getting the N2A card to safely root it so it won't void the warranty. My DD6 read a kid's book on it last night before bed (actually it read to her.):lovestruc

Also-my Walmart wouldn't do a price match with Staples & still give me the $30 gift card although I had read on other forums where they got there's that way. Oh well. $169 + the $30 gift card is still an awesome deal.

Happy Mother's Day to me! And my mom is getting hers today.
