I was going to post asking a couple questions. When will the new season begin?
When do they film for an upcoming season, as in are the crab boats already in and they know how it went but keep it secret?
I surfed around while I was posting here and think I have the answers to a couple of my questions so here for the other DC fans...

IAL News out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska reports on the booming Opilio crab season & fishing that’s currently taking place in the Bering sea…

Per Charles Homans, the sea ice has encroached to the Pribilof islands but so far, doesn’t appear to have slowed down the fishing. So far 28 million pounds of Opilio have been offloaded to processors out of 56 million total allowable catch. Pots have been averaging 300 or more Opilio per pot and another industry source also reports that many fishing crews have pulled entire strings filled with 400-500 Opilio per pot!

Sounds like although a dozen fishing vessels or so have finished up for the season already, most crews will most likely fish well in to March and even April.

The Time Bandite website reports that the Hillstrands & crew caught and delivered their entire harvest of Opilio crab for the 2008 season. They are headed to Homer, Alaska for a short stop, and eventually sailing down to the lower 48 for a one month stop in Seattle, Washington where the Time Bandit will receive maintenance work.

The Hillstrands will be touring the country this spring when season 4 of “Deadliest Catch” hits the airwaves. The message states they hope to meet as many fans as possible on their travels and no doubt, there’s many many “Deadliest Catch”/Timebandit fans who’d love to meet Capts. Johnathan, Andy, and Neal Hillstrand as well! Stay tuned to their store as new merchandise is expected soon.

On the F/V Northwestern front…As of February 13th, the crew had pulled into one of the Pribilof islands–St. Paul, to unload another load of Opilio crab. They’ve been heavy on the crab which must certainly make Capt. Sig happy however, with the ice creeping in and several runs to make, the crew is operating in high gear to catch crab and at the same time, save their pots.

On a very happy note, today is a very special day for Northwestern deckhand Matt Bradley…It’s his one-year anniversary for living a very clean and sober lifestyle, something he’s worked very hard to do. Fans interested in sending Matt a greeting or show of support by mail are certainly welcome to (We’ve all seen how he loves
And one more
It’s all coming to us in April of 2008! Did all “Deadliest Catch” fans catch the season 4 sneakpeeks that aired during the marathon on December 30?
For those of you that didn’t and for “Deadliest Catch” fans from overseas, there are three peeks of season 4. A resourceful “Deadliest Catch” fan was generous enough to send us her recordings of the advertisements so go ahead, be a sneak like the rest of us and take a peek at the up and coming “Deadliest Catch” season 4!

All this cause dh called to say he saw a bumper sticker that said, Got Sig. He knows I have a fondness for the Hanson brothers.

Discovery.com says April. Nothing more specific.

Cool, thanks! :thumbsup2

And good for Matt! I'm happy to hear he's stayed clean and sober. :)

Can't wait for the next season to start airing.

So happy to hear about Matt. I can imagine it's been a tough road for him. Good to see he is still on the Northwestern, I know Sig was giving him a hard time about his court dates and all. Hope he stays clean!!! :thumbsup2

Good news about Matt. A couple months ago, DH found boxes of Northwestern Crab legs in the supermarket. It was very hard to tell my son we weren't getting them. (I go for canned to make crabcakes)

Can't wait for the new season!

Suzanne

I loooooooooooove this show!! Of course, I'm in the crab business. Not that kind of crab, but the Blue Crabs you get on the east coast.

With the show not starting until April it has been hard for me not to visit that website. (found it last year) But I can't wait until April!

However that means no Dirty Jobs, so BOO! No Mike to look at, just to listen to!

What site and why are you avoiding it? Does it have spoilers?

heads up they will be doing a Dirty Jobs from Dutch Harbour this year where they offload. It was filmed last crab season and supposed to air this season.

I will ask my brother when they filmed this season. He left there in November and isnt doing this season :(.

If you want the crab legs from DC go to Costco and get Trident Seafoods crab. That is who most of the boats work for. :)

Binny, I didn't know your brother was in the show. Who is he?

He wasnt on the boats, he was on the docks. You can see him sometimes on the show though :). He was one of the managers where they offload. That is my middle brother.
My oldest brother is the head lawyer for the company that owns most of the boats. He and Sig are good friends.

Can't wait for the new season, the whole family loves the show, so DD's and DSIL's
come over to watch the first show together- dinner is alaskan king crablegs- 10 lbs for 6 people

We all have our favorite ship and crew, so it can get heated if we start
arguing over who's the best:woohoo:

Sig Hanson was at Epcot when we were there in December. :teeth:

Jealous
This thread made me go out and get crab legs for tonight. Couldn't get Alaskan though.

Don't be...we missed him (much to my wife's chagrin ;) ). Once we found out, though, we spent the rest of the week looking particularly close at any blonde guys we happened to see walking around. :teeth:

Can't wait! We're big fans of the show as well.

I love the crab guys but in a close second is the group that does Mount Everest. Both are great reality TV. There's a couple of words I never thought I'd string together. :rotfl:

anyone know if Blake will be back this season. I love him

I saw several things saying Blake and the Maverick would not be back. But I read a quote by him that he's coming back.

We saw sig on our trip in Dec. I remember it well, since I am a fan of the show. It was Sunday the 16th. Standing in line for POTC, and a exit door off to the side opened then a very blonde family came in with a very official looking Disney guy. After that we went over to the Jungle Cruise and the same group was standing outside the FP Line having a discussion the family broke up and only Sig and his daughter headed onto the Jungle cruise. My family and I used our FP and ended up on the same boat with him. I was literally five feet away from him. I thought about saying something to him, but he had a look on his face that he was willing to punch anyone who talked to him, so I just smiled and nodded. Also I am assuming he wears a different watch while out at sea, but the one he was wearign that day would drag him straight to the bottom if he went overboard. It was big and nice.
