We're on the DDP (basic) for April. We have a family of 4 (2 adults, a 5yr old, and 1 baby who obviously isn't on the plan). We are traveling with another family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) who are also on the DDP, but separate from us. All of our dining reservations are together so I'm wondering how that's going to play out once it comes time to pay and tip. :confused3

I think, and someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, the automatic gratuity will be added to each of your checks. :)

I agree that you'll probably get hit with the added gratuity because of your party size. However using the DDP with 2 families is easy. Just let your server know how many credits for your family and how many for the other family. You'll get seperate checks to sign. Just did this in December, and we even made it more complicated by paying OOP for my disney adult DS10 ;) Never had any problems or confusion.

Just get separate checks ,tell the CM at the start of the meal. You will each have different DDP card for each family (you guys are not all in the same resort room are you) that they need at the end of the meal to scan in and knock off your TS credits.
I don't know how may they will call your party a party of 2 and 4 or a party of 6 just make sure you look at the check before you pay it so you don't double tip.
Also just check at the end of each TS, CS or SC to make sure you have the right quantities of each remaining they are always printed on your recipte so you can keep track of remaining that way.

We had a party of 10 with 3 different families, each on their own dining plan. We always told the server at the beginning of the meal that we were all on the plan. At the end of the meal the server would ask for one card from each party and then ask who else in the group was with a particular card. It always came out correct. We were there for New Year's in 2007 so we had the plan that included tip. We always noticed though that tip was automatically added to any bar tab, no matter how many people were in the group or how small the bill was. Watch for that.
