I am trying to understand the ins and outs of the dining plan and what is included. For example at a Counter Service meal at Earl of Sandwich, you would only get a sandwich and a drink included with your meal, not a side. But could maybe use a snack credit on a side?
I feel like I have read contradicting things and want to make sure I use it correctly:)
Thank you!!

You are usually able to use a snack credit for a side. It's not always the best "value" for a snack credit, but if it's something you like and want, then you determine the value. Overall, the dining plan is not a good value for about 80% of the people who purchase it (or even get it free). You are usually better off paying as you go or buying discounted gift cards if you want to have money set aside. As nearly everyone on the Boards will say, the DP is more for convenience, not saving money.

Thank you so much!

Each place has its own rules on the dining plan. Seen a recent video that went to every place and asked. For example, Pepe by Jose Andres in Disney Springs added a side to the disney dining plan meal recently. Great value there.
