DDP payment

Although DDP is great and we thoroughly enjoyed it over this last Christmas, I really, really wish that they would allow us to pay in advance for it as it's such a pain at check-in. We have a long flight from the UK and then immigration and by the time we check into OKW (we are DVC members) it's a hassle as we are three different families all staying in a two bedroom apartment and all use three different cards. It just takes too long when all we want to do is unpack and get into summer clothes! I would also like to pre-pay as then it's paid for and out of the way and not another thing I have to think about.

I have just learn't that people who book packages/rooms can pre-pay DDP it's just the DVC members who cannot pre-pay, this is a tad unfair!

The DDP is negotiated for DVC member by DVC, so the rules are different. I don't see where paying for it at check-in is such a problem, though.

We like to pay for as many things as possible before we go on holiday, also it's timing, it took 30 mins to check in last time as three credit cards needed to be debited and that coupled with a 10 hour flight was a real pain.

Just wish we had the option to pre-pay that's all.

The longer you wait the less it may cost you . The pound may be $2.05 by then! We've put off all Euro trips until the dollar strengthens (if it ever does). We did a UK trip when the pound was $1.10 and again when it was $1.55. The Canadian Loonie is about 95 cents US, I remember during some holidays there it was in the 60 cent range. Now is a great time for UK people to holiday in the US. You should be buying us yanks a pint at the Rose and Crown!

While I understand the convenience of pre-payment, Member Services isn't set up to credit pre-payments to a room, like regular Disney reservations, since rooms are paid with points, and are not "packages."

That is why you can not pre-arrange MYW park tickets, either, like with Disney reservations, the package software isn't tied into Member Services.

Have only been in the Rose & Crown once on a really hot day, it was as near to an English pub as you can get, even down to the beer smell!!

The exchange rate is great but the cost of flying over the pond has gone up, especially if you have to vacation during school holidays, like me. The best thing for us Brits at the moment is shopping in Orlando, I would love to find out just how much we spend over there.

Do you mean DDP or DDE?

DDP (Disney Dining Plan) is the same as it is for regular resort guests, with the following exceptions:

It must be linked to your room reservation by Member Services prior to your arrival at a DVC resort, it is not available if staying on points at a regular WDW resort, it does not require a park ticket purchase for eligibility, and it can not be pre-paid, it must be paid at check-in. The cost per night is the same as through a Disney cash reservation.

DDE (Disney Dining Experience) is not a perk of DVC, but is a perk of having an Annual Pass or bei a Florida resident. You MUST be an annual passholder or a Florida resident to qualify. Currently it is $65 for one year, and gives a 20% discount on virtually all Table Service and buffet meals, including adult beverages. It is also honored at many Disney operated bars/lounges, and is honored at counter service places at the Value resorts and Animal Kingdom park.

Cost for 2007 is $38.99 per adult and $10.99 per child 9 and under per night of your reservation. 2008 details have not yet been released, there are rumors about changes, but nothing concrete.

For 2007 the plan included one "snack", one counter service, and one table service credit per night, which can be used anyway you wish (ie two Counter Service one day, two Table Service another day). The price includes tax and gratuity. Table service meals include appetizer, entree, non-acoholic beverage, and dessert.

Everyone in your room must be on the DDP for the length of your reservation.

I stayed in a room with 3 friends and we got the dining plan. When we checked in at OKW, we each stepped up to the counter and paid individually. Two paid cash, one paid credit card, one paid disney visa rewards card. They took the cost for each person and subtracted it from the balance after each person paid. It didn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes.

DVC doesn't have an accounts receivable system, if you book a room with cash through member services, they do not accept a one night deposit, they just take a credit card number as a guarantee.

You must call MS ahead of time to add the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation. They need a few days to put it into the system. You can't just add it when you check in.

You will hear varying timeframes for calling in advance of arrival. I've heard three days and five days. Personally, I would call as soon as you are sure you want DDP; I wouldn't take the chance of forgetting in the excitement of the run-up to your trip. You can always drop the DDP if you change your mind...even at checkin.

Along the same lines, sort of... we are getting the DDP also. We are checking in on a Friday and my sister and BIL are not checking in until Saturday (in the same room). Can I pay for just the 2 of us on Friday or will I have to pay for all 4 on the reservation at check-in? If I have to pay for all 4, will they give me my sister & BIL's cards without their ID?

If you are i the same room, yes, you'll need to pay for all 4 when you check-in. They will need to show their ID to get their room keys/cards, unless they issue them, and give them to you, when you check-in. I think they can either give the keys to you, or they can pick them up when they arrive. I guess that depends upon the security level.

I assume you understand that you will be paying for everyone for each night of the entire ressie -- whether or not everyone is there. That will give you more credits than you have days, but there are ways to use extra credits well.
