DDP - Never Again!

That's good that you had the names, too! Hopefully they'll look into that awful manager!

Keep us posted as you hear anything back from them!

Don't mind me....just attaching myself to this thread for I can hear what happens.... popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

I received a generic email that my email had been received and that someone would be contacting me. Will keep you all posted!

The problem was the BC not DDP. We have used it many times and have never had a problem using it on the last day. I was told early on that you need to let the front desk know that you are not "checking out". If they close your account it will cancel your credits. We used 12 snack credits hours before heading to the airport on our last trip with no problem. I heard someone recently had the same problem with BW too. The DDP works great, but sometimes the CMs mess up--which is what happened to you. Too bad it spoiled it for you.

I don't know about this. Now, I am DVC, so it may be a bit different, but we were always told that regardless of officially checking out, the cards will still work until midnight. And they always have, even when we didn't notify anyone. After this incident, I might just let them know "just in case."

I too had this problem with BC last May. I went on to WLV, and had a lot of credits left for that last day! Every time i needed to use them, i had to tell the cashier/waitress that they would need to get a manager to do an override and explain the problem. It was such a pain, having to wait for a manager and the line getting longer behind you! The lady in the BC Marketplace was very nice to me, but was mad at BC, as she said it happens a lot and they need to fix it! She even called someone on the phone when i was there and told them they need to get this fixed. Apparently they haven't fixed it yet. I went on to use the dining plan at WL and again at Beach Club in October with no problem's.

Wow - horror stories.

I think what we will be doing on our next trip is to test our cards before the first full day @ the park. Imaging the hassel to get up early, go to the park at rope drop, and finding out the card does not work! So, maybe on the first night we're there (WL), we should just test purchase snacks from resort snack bar (this way, easier to fix if something is wrong) and test entering the nearest park (for us would be MK) to see if everyone's card works before going commando the next morning :)

This is what the concierge told me to do originally. Unfortunately, the room charges were being declined too. My card still worked to get into the parks, but somehow everything else got turned off, even though I never officially "checked out."

Your card would still work for the parks as they must be used within 14 days of your first use for admission to the parks. The problem definetly is with the BC. When you used Express Check out it cancelled everything. The DDP is wonderful for those of you using it. We have been on it 3 times and always had credits left after checking out. I always checked out through the front desk. So maybe that is the key do not check out through Express Checkout. Go to the front desk and they can then make sure your credits are not cancelled.

Sorry this happened to you. As I said before we will never go back to WDW without the DDP unless they no longer offer it. :thumbsup2

yep, sounds about the same as when we used the DDP. We used it when it was brand new, so I sort of chalked up massive confusion and problems to the fact they handn't been well educated on it yet...sorry to hear the madness is continuing.

That's horrible and I would have been MAD :headache: !

I hope they offer you some sort of compensation.

Wow, never heard of this! I would definitely complain - principle alone. And I hope you got the name of the rude manager.

Just be aware that if you have MYW tickets (ie, a limited # of days), this will use up one of your days, even if you just enter the park and immediately exit. I don't know if there's any way the CM's at the entries can "check" your ticket without using up a day.

we get the DDP whenever we go there. Always works properly. Remember the cards are issued at your resort. Next time, go back to resort & get it set up properly:thumbsup2

We're there for 9 days and got 9 days pass. it's only few bucks more from 8 days. So shouldn't matter :)

You're right--once you're up above 5 days or so, it's only a couple $$ to add extra days. Just wanted to make sure you knew to add the extra days ahead of time, so you didn't accidentally lose a day. We always get more days than we think we'll need, just in case.

I disagree about the problem being with Express Checkout. We always use it and have never had problems using our room card for charges on our last day. We have also had no problems using DDP credits after checking out of BCV on two trips on that plan.

But I'm so sorry to hear of your problems, Nennie. I would have been so frustrated as well. I think I would have asked the BCMarketplace and Hurricane Hannah's to call the front desk to clear it up. That is what the various restaurants do when the credit is maxed out on the room card before the system authorizes another $1500 or whatever.

BTW, you should have been able to use your QS at BCMarketplace as well. We've used QS for sandwiches for our flights both times we've used the DDP

I don't know how WDW would quantify your lost value but I hope you are reimbursed something...maybe the number of lost QS and snacks for your next trip?

nennie - PM me and I can get you a direct email for the manager of the BC.

Express check out isn't the problem. We've gone on DDP twice and used express checkout both times, and we had no trouble getting lunch and snacks later on that day. The credits are good until midnight of the day you check out, you don't have to do anything special to hold on to them.

It sounds like a computer glitch to me. We had trouble at CBR; I noticed that our snack numbers didn't look quite right. Not as serious as missing meals, but hey, DD wants those Mickey bars! :mickeybar

I went to front desk after we returned from the park that day, and after checking the card they explained that the systems had been rebooted for the start of the Year of a Million Dreams promotion that week, and some of the dining plan records had been messed up. They fixed it, but I kind of  at the explanation and wondered how many other people that happened to and if they were notified at all.

Anyway, in that case, it was a computer glitch at the resort. You get your KTW cards activated at the resort when you check in, so your best bet is to check there first when you have any trouble with them.

I am not sure if someone else addressed this, but we had a similar experience and were told that this was happening with the new switch in kid/adult credits. Our waiter called and got the problem straightened out. We didn't have any other problems.

OP, I didn't read all of the post but wanted to let you know that we had this same problem when we went in Sept at POR. I did email a complaint to Guest Services and got a call back within a few weeks. I did explain to her that it wasn't that we were upset over not getting to use the credits we had left over, it was a free dining period and we felt like it was not a HUGE deal. What upset us was the lost time and the unhelpful staff. I actually was given a card with guest services email from the manager of POR that day because he was not very a real helpful guy. All he could do was tell me was that HIS computer said we had some DDP left but sorry, there was nothing he could do. I too waited in line, was embarrased, went back and forth between the front desk etc. I did explain that even though I understand that computers have a way of causing problems when they "crash" that I did feel that Disney should have a back up system to help/resolve these issues. We ended up leaving disney with 13 snack credits and 8 CS, and 1 days worth of tickets left because our keys would not work FOR ANYTHING. Very embarrassing situation at BB, btw. Obviously those CM's really couldn't help.

Anyway, the lady we spoke to was Dana, and within a few weeks they did send us something in the mail with a very nice letter. She was able to see that we actually left with that amount of DDP left and the denied entry to BB. We didn't get any $$ back.

Hopefully your situation will get resolved as well. I do think that if nothing else Disney should be looking for ways to fix these kinds of problems while you are THERE. It really doesn't help me when I get HOME.

Kelly
