What was your life like when you were half your current age?

I was 16 getting my gcses waiting to start a new college

Interesting question! Exactly half my life ago I was basically standing on the brink of really starting it. I was a month away from getting married and 13 months after that our DS was born. I was 30 then and we’re coming up on our 30th Anniversary now. It’s been a crazy journey for sure, but realizing now that more of it is behind me than in front, I think I’ve “done” life pretty well.

Half my age? That was nearly halfway before I made my first visit to Florida! I didn’t visit Disney during that time… it was largely the Tampa Bay area on a spur of the moment. I wasn’t into attractions yet and largely chickened out on the rides at Busch Gardens. I seemed more into Pokémon back in that time too.

I was 26, married for 5 years and a SAHM to a 1 year old with another on the way.

I was 36, with 2 small kids a husband, a job I loved and life was good. My parents were still living, my health was good and we were still a couple of years from the heart attack that changed how my husband lives his life. You know the song Those Were The Days my friend I thought they'd never end we'd sing and dance forever and a day....we'd live the life we choose, we'd fight and never lose for we were young and sure to find our way. Oh, if that could only be so.

I had a toddler and a newborn. Just bought our house on an acreage. I worked 3 days a week which was a good compromise on being with my kids + earning money. We didn't have a lot but got by.

I still had my father and my son.

I was 35. Been married for 15 years. 2 children. Both parent deceased.
Lived on 4 acres in a house we had built. Worked for the school district.

Oh boy....

I was 21 working in a restaurant 70+ hours a week. I, at the time, was a pretty hard core drinker and developed a pretty bad cocaine habit amongst other drugs. 3 weeks before my 22 birthday my apartment was broken into which led to a confrontation that put 1 person in a coma and me pretty beat up. Not a week after that I was a passenger in a car that went into a canal. I have no idea how none of the 3 of us survived, nor did the police officer who pulled me out of the car, who was also there after my incident a week earlier. He told me he's never seen someone with so much protection around them and that next time he sees me I'll likely not be alive. When I left the hospital, I checked myself into a rehab facility. It changed me. I still drink a bit, but i haven't touched hard drugs in 21 years.

I met my wife 6 months after all of this and I'm now married with 2 kids.

I was 19 and just going into my second year of university. I'd gone to uni at the entirely opposite end of the country to where I lived in the UK, and was mostly loving being away from home and the freedom from my parents (although my housemates cleanliness left a little to be desired).

I'm so grateful for the time I spent at uni, not necessarily the degree itself which was a waste of time, but for the overall experience. And while I certainly miss a life without all the responsibilities I have now, I wouldnt want to go back to that age. I'm a much better person now at 38 than I ever was back then!

I would be 15. That was a pretty great summer. It was the last one before I had a job, so I spent a lot of time with friends and playing video games.

35 years... just started the longest job of my life.. and an okay one at that....
10 years in the same parking space and I want to that a new concept... that surely had no promise..a box truck selling fresh coffee in any concept possible ...was there to greet us all...a culture begining...alas 35 years ago was the begining of what is now the last tumultuous 35 years... the hour glass had broken and Lynn Anderson was right... never promised you a rose garden

Thinking I was done with college, I went to work for a juvenile probation office as admin support. The place broke my heart and I returned home to be a SAHM + military spouse. I threw myself into volunteering at the kids' schools and being a Girl Scout troop leader. I started selling my handmade quilts on a new website called eBay. Then, I started dabbling in website design, which opened several doors for me. Those two years shaped me more than I realized at the time.

Second...glad that you were able to participate in the GOLD RUSH of the new century... eBay..oh my what a rush...I was one of the first pioneers in Salem Oregon with eBay and still hold a particular record...300 people had the opportunity to buy the estate item for $2.00.that item now sits in a museum... thanks to eBay

Half my age... so i was 34.5. DH and I were living in Syracuse, not married, while he finished his PhD. I was working as a research associate/lab manager. DD wasn't even a glimmer... SO much has changed since then!

I was 27 years old, stay at home mom with 2 "babies", we had just bought our first house, life was good. They are grown now, the hubs and I are enjoying being empty nesters.
