My friend Amanda and i were very excited to try Blue Zoo. We had never been and always like to try something new! We were not disappointed.
ME:
Starfish Cooler - Mumm’s champagne, limoncello, pama liqueur, unsweetened tea and rock candy syrup served on the rocks. - $13.00
Bluezoo's New England Style Clam Chowder - Light and brothy with salt cured bacon and house-made oyster crackers. - $8.00
Simply Fish - Our daily selection of finest fresh fish selected from coastal waters around the world, simply grilled on our teppanyaki grill. Served w/ choice of sauce...warm crabmeat, dijon mustard & chives or cucumber vinaigrette or red curry coconut, parsley & lemon. - $32.00
Mai Tai Banana Cream Tart - Roasted pineapple and dark rum flambéed exotic fruit sorbet. - $14.00
My Starfish is on the right, DF's Pineapple drink on the left. I found mine was pretty good, nice and refreshing. Lots of alcohol in these guys! DF found hers had far too much ginger in it. I don't believe she even finished it, and at $14 a glass, that's a big disappointment.
This soup was amazing! At first i was a little disappointed looking at it....there were no potatoes, i love potatoes. Even without potatoes it was awesome. I didn't know that a broth could also be creamy and smooth. The taste of the bacon wasn't too overpowering, it added a nice smokey flavor. The little pillows are actually the homemade oyster crackers. They popped in your mouth, so cool.
For this dish, you could choose from a variety of different 'catch of the day' offerings. The fish i chose was Mahi Mahi. The presentation of this dish was beautiful. Even DF was impressed with it. The sauce i chose was the warm crabmeat, dijon mustard & chives. Beautiful. It came presented in a tiny copper pot. Every bite was fabulous. The fish was cooked perfectly, the sauce smooth and creamy....i loved this dish!
This wonderful dessert was a masterpiece of special effects! lol....The dessert was originally topped by a large orange painted, white chocolate sphere. Upon presentation of the dessert, our server poured hot syrup over the sphere, melting it into the dessert. Very refreshing and citrusy!
DF:
Pineapple Smash - 10 cane rum, fresh pineapple, ginger juice, fresh lime juice, rock candy syrup, topped with a splash of sprite. - $13.00
Bluezoo's New England Style Clam Chowder - Light and brothy with salt cured bacon and house-made oyster crackers. - $8.00
Bacon Wrapped Tuna - Served with herb silky potato, garlic spinach, and mushroom vinaigrette. - $29.00
Zweet burger - Berry compote and citrus cream filled lemon cake, berry orange zest sorbet and beignet. - $14.00
Unfortunately, i have no picture of DF's Bacon Wrapped Tuna. Why you ask? Cause i'm a nerd who accidently deleted it later on in our trip! AH! Anyway, DF loved the dish. Tuna was seared beautifully and the bacon was nice, crispy, and flavorful. The presentation was awesome! Looked like little sushi rolls! I swear!
The most bizarre dessert ever! This burger, fries, and ketchup were all made from sweet items. I don't think DF finished it, cause it was pretty rich and VERY lemony....she did, however, finish off all the beignet fries (without offering me one)... The novelty of the dish was definitely there and definitely cool.
