Count me in too :goodvibes

Blue Zoo is my favourite restaurant, can't want to read your review on that one in particular, but looking forward to all of them :yay:

My friend Amanda and i were very excited to try Blue Zoo. We had never been and always like to try something new! We were not disappointed.

ME:

Starfish Cooler - Mumm’s champagne, limoncello, pama liqueur, unsweetened tea and rock candy syrup served on the rocks. - $13.00
Bluezoo's New England Style Clam Chowder - Light and brothy with salt cured bacon and house-made oyster crackers. - $8.00
Simply Fish - Our daily selection of finest fresh fish selected from coastal waters around the world, simply grilled on our teppanyaki grill. Served w/ choice of sauce...warm crabmeat, dijon mustard & chives or cucumber vinaigrette or red curry coconut, parsley & lemon. - $32.00
Mai Tai Banana Cream Tart - Roasted pineapple and dark rum flambéed exotic fruit sorbet. - $14.00

My Starfish is on the right, DF's Pineapple drink on the left. I found mine was pretty good, nice and refreshing. Lots of alcohol in these guys! DF found hers had far too much ginger in it. I don't believe she even finished it, and at $14 a glass, that's a big disappointment.

This soup was amazing! At first i was a little disappointed looking at it....there were no potatoes, i love potatoes. Even without potatoes it was awesome. I didn't know that a broth could also be creamy and smooth. The taste of the bacon wasn't too overpowering, it added a nice smokey flavor. The little pillows are actually the homemade oyster crackers. They popped in your mouth, so cool.

1206.jpg

For this dish, you could choose from a variety of different 'catch of the day' offerings. The fish i chose was Mahi Mahi. The presentation of this dish was beautiful. Even DF was impressed with it. The sauce i chose was the warm crabmeat, dijon mustard & chives. Beautiful. It came presented in a tiny copper pot. Every bite was fabulous. The fish was cooked perfectly, the sauce smooth and creamy....i loved this dish!

This wonderful dessert was a masterpiece of special effects! lol....The dessert was originally topped by a large orange painted, white chocolate sphere. Upon presentation of the dessert, our server poured hot syrup over the sphere, melting it into the dessert. Very refreshing and citrusy!

DF:

Pineapple Smash - 10 cane rum, fresh pineapple, ginger juice, fresh lime juice, rock candy syrup, topped with a splash of sprite. - $13.00
Bluezoo's New England Style Clam Chowder - Light and brothy with salt cured bacon and house-made oyster crackers. - $8.00
Bacon Wrapped Tuna - Served with herb silky potato, garlic spinach, and mushroom vinaigrette. - $29.00
Zweet burger - Berry compote and citrus cream filled lemon cake, berry orange zest sorbet and beignet. - $14.00

Unfortunately, i have no picture of DF's Bacon Wrapped Tuna. Why you ask? Cause i'm a nerd who accidently deleted it later on in our trip! AH! Anyway, DF loved the dish. Tuna was seared beautifully and the bacon was nice, crispy, and flavorful. The presentation was awesome! Looked like little sushi rolls! I swear!

1208.jpg

The most bizarre dessert ever! This burger, fries, and ketchup were all made from sweet items. I don't think DF finished it, cause it was pretty rich and VERY lemony....she did, however, finish off all the beignet fries (without offering me one)... The novelty of the dish was definitely there and definitely cool.

Next: Not eating at Animal Kingdom and Kona Cafe...

Great review of Blue Zoo, thanks.
the burger dessert is really amazing, I might have to go just for that....

So DF and i have always had problems with Animal Kingdom. We love the park, we hate the food. Everything is just so heavy (Flame Tree BBQ), boring (Restrauntasaurus) or just plain gross (Yak & Yeti). This time we decided to skip it all together. Instead, we opted for some Ice Cream snacks. We did, however, stop for a great drink at the Royal Anandapur Tea Company. This stand still isn't accepting the DDP (3 years and it still says "We are not yet accepting the DDP, lol), so we paid OOP.

ME & DP:

Fruit Tea Freeze
- Fruit tea freeze. - $4.25

1209.jpg

DF's Mango Tea Freeze on the left, my Strawberry Tea Freeze on the right. Both were great, and refreshing on a super hot day.

After Animal Kingdom we headed over to the Polynesian Resort to have dinner at one of our favorite places, Kona Cafe. We were surprised and delighted to learn that Kona now offers a full Sushi Bar. Good times!

ME:

Smoothie
- Choose from Orange-Passion Fruit, Raspberry or Strawberry-Banana. - $4.29
Volcano Roll - Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Salad, Tempura Crunch - $12.99
Tuna Oscar - Served with fried green tomatoes, tempura-fried jumbo lump crab, and wasabi hollandaise. - $21.99
Desserts - Chocolate Fondue. - $5.49

1210.jpg

My Strawberry-Banana Smoothie. I love that you can get this as your non-alcoholic bev on the DDP.

Amazing! Just amazing! So full of flavor! I love spicy tuna roll and this was a nice twist. A refreshing shrimp salad surrounding a mound of tuna with a tempura crunch. Presentation was great.

1220.jpg

I always have the shrimp and scallops, so i ventured into new territory with this dish. I had also never had fried green tomatoes before. It was great! A perfect mix of salty and sweet with a beautifully seared tuna filet. Excellent.

1221.jpg

Again, tried something new and wasn't disappointed! Fresh and refreshing fruit with an awesome dark chocolate fondue. What more could you ask for? Oh ya, Macaroons!

DF:

Sprite

Shrimp Tempura Roll - Tempura Shrimp, Fresh Mango served with Lilkoi Sauce - $9.99
Shrimp and Scallops - Panko breaded shrimp and pan-seared scallops with sticky rice and Ponzu, spicy guava, passion fruit, and wasabi cream sauces. - $20.99
Desserts - Kilauea Torte - $5.99

1211.jpg

This was another great roll. DF said she liked the Mango added to the traditional shrimp roll.

1219.jpg

Delicious as always, this is one of our regular Kona Cafe dishes. Beautifully seared scallops with a nice light Panko breaded jumbo shrimp....amazing.

1222.jpg

Kona desserts never disappoint! Delicious, and again, a beautiful presentation.

Next: Cafe San Angel - Mexican Pavilion, Epcot & Teppan Edo - Japan Pavilion, Epcot

Awesome photo's :thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing!! I think you just convinced me to try

Kona for the first time on my next trip ~ :) .

Looking forward to more.

gorgeous photos!

especially that cheeseburger "dessert" and the tuna roll presentation - when food looks so beautifully plated, it just has to taste wonderful!!

Great reviews! What may I ask was gross at Yak and Yeti? I ate there once and loved it. I plan to go back but I don't want to get something bad.

Kona looks amazing! I changed our ressie last year from Kona to Grand Floridian Cafe. Now granted GFC was great, now that Kona has sushi, we will definitely be hitting that next time! Great pics so far! :thumbsup2

Great reviews! What may I ask was gross at Yak and Yeti? I ate there once and loved it. I plan to go back but I don't want to get something bad.

DF and i did the take-away window last year. Slimy noodles, greasy and fatty beef, terrible. The TS might be better, but MAN that was bad....

I love the pictures from Kona... we were there on our trip for breakfast, but didn't get a chance to get there for a meal that would include some of that yummy looking sushi!!! I wouldn't mind trying the green tomatoes either!

Thanks for the wonderful reviews, keep up the good work!!!

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
