DDP and children's menu question

We are DVC members going in 5 weeks and had decided to do DDP. I'm questioning the children's menus now. If I understand correctly, whether you're on DDP or not, the children's menu is still the same. The only difference is that you can order anything for your child from either adult or child menu if not on the plan or pay OOP for an adult meal if on the plan and save the ch credit for some other time. Is this correct? I won't add my thoughts on the new menu other than to say the children's choices are very limited. I just want to make sure I understand the menu and plan options before deciding to stick with the plan.

From what I understand, you are correct. You can pay OOP for an adult meal for your child at any time and use the child credits later, but only for a child's meal for a child. Some have suggested using the child meal for the fries and drink and just ordering a sandwich or whatever ala carte, even if it isn't listed on the menu. If there is no children's menu (Casey's, Pizza Planet) you can use a child's credit for a meal as long as it is the child who is eating it. At least that's what I understand. We'll be there in 10 days, so I won't know for certain until then! We are also DVC and are going to use the DDP for the first time. My kids are light eaters (except for my DS2, who isn't on the plan anyway!), so I'm hopeful it will be a good fit for us.
