DDP and Birthday Cake Question

I have a birthday dinner planned for my mom on in about 3 weeks at Artist Point. I'm soon going to be ordering a cake for desert. We're going to be on the DDP which comes with a desert and I obviously don't want 2 deserts.

What are we supposed to do here?

Are cakes included on the DDP at all?

Under circumstances like these would they allow us to get appitizers instead of deserts?

Do I just need to not order desert?

Any help is appreciated.

Cakes are not included on any Dining Plan.

No, you absolutely can NOT exchange a dessert for an appetizer, under any circumstances.

You could just not order dessert.

You could order dessert and pass it on to a nearby table (check with them first, and no, this is NOT the same as using your DDP credits to feed persons not on the Dining Plan).

You could ask your server for desserts that are transportable, and get them to go - e.g. fruit.

You could get the cake boxed up to go, and order & eat the desserts covered under your Dining Plan.

Specialty desserts (off-menu) are not included on DDP.

You won't be permitted to order appetizers instead of desserts, that is never permitted.

Some restaurants (usually signatures) have a cheese selection that can be ordered as dessert (Narcoosee's won't allow cheese as a dessert on the dining plan, according to one report on this board, but it's been reported that most of the others will). Or, as noted, you could either ask to substitute fruit or get your dessert (or the specialty cake) to go.
