Sounds like you raised one smart cookie! You have a right to be proud. My DH looked at me as if I had lost my marbles when I came home with a **load of ziplock bags and told him they were for our trip! I'm sure he will get it by the end of the trip..

Oh, the power of the ziplock! I also use the Space Bags and boy, oh, boy are the wondrous!

Did you ever find an over-door organizer? I really want one for our trip.

I did find one at the Dollar Tree, but decided against it at the last minute since it looked like it wouldn't hold up to much weight. DD told me not to worry since we have our LL Bean hang up toiletry kits. I'd totally forgotten about these! That will solve the lack of room problem.

Hello Hello Hello... Just found my way here. So glad to be aboard before the trip so I can feel like I was a hitchhiker. What a great thing to have your daughter want to have the time just with you. As a mother of a teenager, that to me is quite a gift when you see they truly like spending time with you. I see so many that don't.

So scary to hear about the tree. Glad that you are all ok.

Did you make any ADR's? Are you going to spend the whole time at Epcot? Not that I blame you... I still end up at MK the most... it is the kid in me I guess.

So, I've got 14 days until we leave for Disney World. After my shopping trip this weekend I can officially start packing!

I've picked up the essentials for my germaphobe sensibilities - Lysol Wipes (2 for 1 ($3.79) at Walgreens!), Lysol spray, new pillowcases, and flipflops. I'm not OCD - well, maybe a little - but I do have to be very careful! My Lupus & cancer meds reduce my immunity to very low levels, so I have to be extra vigilant about not contracting anything. A simple cold virus could spell an emergency hospital trip for me! So, my germ fighting gear is ready. I will NOT get sick this trip!!

For safety/health sake I always wipe down all surfaces in my hotel rooms (especially door knobs, remote control, telephone), scrub out the sinks & bathtub, use my own pillows & pillowcases, request fresh comforters for the beds, NEVER walk barefoot on the floor - always wear my flip flops in the room, use my own plastic cups & paper towels (Never the glasses they leave for you in the bathroom - after that NightLine story, I'm glad I've always done this! That was ), and request that housekeeping refrain from "cleaning" the room while we're there - I only ever ask for fresh towels on occasion since my daughter tends to go through these like crazy. I bring my own towels for my use.

I made it!! Wow, sorry about the storm and the tree. That is stress that you surely don't need right now. Reminds me of all the mess after the hurricane(s). Your trip sounds like fun. You and your DD are going to have a blast!

Ok, I love all the germ fighting ideas. I've got the wipes and lysol. I will be wiping down everything as usual. As well as checking for bed bugs!!! What is the deal with the plastic cups? I didn't see the nightline story. Are you talking about the ones that are sealed in plastic? I hope not. I've used those before although not recently. We are doing the refillable mug this trip. It will be our first time doing this.

I know what you mean! I feel very blessed to have my daughter as my best friend. We truly enjoy each other & rarely have any of the usual mom/teenage daughter issues. It's the best gift I could ever receive.

Yes, it's "It's a small world after all, it's a small, small world" in French. I studied French for years but hadn't used any in about 15 years. The funny thing was I had a dream we were in IASM & it was all in French! So I just had to put that in my siggie.

Fall of 2005 was no fun! Katrina did some roof damage to our house, but Rita spun the opposite direction & took down 2 big oak trees (thankfully fell away from the house) and a few smaller ones. That's a year I hope never to repeat! We were lucky, but so many are still affected by those storms!Your trip sounds like fun. You and your DD are going to have a blast!

Well, the news (Inside Edition, not Nightline as I'd first thought) story was about how they secretly filmed housekeeping at a few tourist-heavy hotels (2 were at Disney) and let's just say, I will NEVER put my lips on a glass that is in a hotel room again.

It was gross & very disturbing! I was talking about the glass ones they put out in the bathroom area. I think the ones in plastic should be a safe bet. Oh, and you'll love the refillable mugs! We get some every year & it has really been a money-saver. Plus they make great souvenirs!

I'm SUPER excited! But SP is going nuts!! She woke me up late last night (around 12:30 a.m.) after getting in from a crawfish boil with her BF. Now, you need to understand that my DD ADORES crawfish! She is usually full of enthusiasm for the little boiled bugs. (Can you tell I'm a bit indifferent to them? )

Anyhoo, I was fast asleep dreaming about Captain Jack, when I groggily notice someone standing over my bed.

Me: "Jack? Is that you?"
SP: "Psst. Mom!"
Me: "Huh, whaa?"
SP: "Only 3 more days!!"
Me: "Yep. Howsa crawfish boil?"
SP: "Good, but can you believe, 3 more days! Hee Hee! I'm so excited!"
Me: "Meh too. Yawn."
SP: "MOM!! You don't sound very excited! We're actually leaving in just 3 days for a WHOLE WEEK in Disney World! I wonder how the weather's gonna be? You think we'll get to see the candy lady in Japan? I love Japan! Ooh, and I love China! I can't wait! Oooh, and the Club Cool Soda! I LOVE Club Cool!"
Me: "I AM excited. I'm also sleepy."

Only a couple of things left to accomplish & I'm ready to roll:
* Get car serviced - oil change, fluid levels checked, etc.
* Pack toiletries & last minute items.

Then, I'm all set! I can't believe how fast the last few weeks have gone by. Seems like just yesterday I started to plan this trip.

I looked up the weather on both Accuweather & Intellicast & it looks like it'll be mostly sunny with 2 days of possible (30%) t-storms. Lookin' good!

I visited my team of doctors yesterday & have the go ahead for a fun vacation. Only concern they had was the sun exposure bringing on a flare, but I have a HUGE hat & will wear lots of sunscreen. I had a canopy over my scooter last year, but decided against it this year. I found that I couldn't see out of the sides & top & my DD couldn't see me. Not fun. Plus, the sun was almost always at an angle & came right in. The only shade I got was on my face. So, big, floppy hat it is!

I'll miss the reactions of the little boys thinking I had a mini car last year. With the matching canopy, it was like a little red sportscar! One little one in particular was just SO cute - he said I needed to put a 95 on the side so I could be like Lightening McQueen! How cute is that? I told him I was more like Mater!

Well, I must get back to work now. Pity that I have to work when Disney looms in my near future! But somebody has to pay for this trip!
