DDE tipping question

Do you tip on the total before the 20% discount or after? I'm thinking before but thought I'd ask.

before = for us the card pretty much covers the tip.

Any time there is tipping involved as well as a discount it is proper to compute the tip on the price before the discount.

However, generally tip should not be computed on the tax.

funny, my dh says the DDE is there to cover the tip..

which is what we did 99% of time.. we absolutely calculated tip prior to discount.

think only one time we only gave 15% which in my opinion, server deserved nothing..

never brought soft drinks, served us dinner then came appetizer,never refilled our childrens drinks and to top it off, we had no silverware until 5 minutes after entree served
think it was his first day on job
