i searched for this and couldn't find the answer to this specific question. i just bought an AP last saturday. i'm thinking i might take advantage of the DDE option and buy the card. i read that you can get a second card for your spouse for $25, but that only one card can be used per table. we're traveling by ourselves so i'm thinking there would be no purpose to buying a second card. my question is when i present my card do we got 20% off the entire meal (his and mine) or do i just get 20% off my individual meal since i'm the card holder? i hope not because we tend to share appetizers and desserts! thanks for any info! :goodvibes

Hey Dawn!

You will get 20% off the entire meal up to a party of 8, I believe - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. And that 20% includes alcohol my friend!

We bought ours in April and really got mileage out of it when we were at WDW in May. Definitely a great deal for $65.

You do not each need a DDE card, one card would cover both of your meals. It is well worth the price if you are not going to be on the DDP.

Enjoy!

it's 20% off total check including alcohol for card holder and up to 7 guests.

it's actually good for up to 10 guests currently.

Note: it is "well worth it" if you consume enough food and drink (alcohol included) to offset the cost of the card.

For the AP discount price of $65, the break-even point is $325 - that is, you would need to order $325 worth of food and drinks (pre-discount) to make back the $65 cost of the card at the 20% discount.

And that is only at participating locations. Most (but not all) on-property TS restaurants, but just a few CS locations (All-Stars and a few at AK off the top of my head).

You get the card by request. I'm sorry I don't have my file at hand, but call WDW DINING and ask for the Disney Dining Experience or search for it on the disney website. AP holders get it cheaper than non. and as has been said on the previous threads, there's really no reason for one family to buy 2. We've used ours for a few years and find it to be a wonderful experience:love: unlike the other dining plan which would seriously cause us to overeat:confused3 Don' t order the card too early as it's only good for 12 months. We plan our trips to get 2 out of the one card. We average $200+ savings (DH, DS-19, DD-17, and me)Back to the World June 08 :cool1:

I was under the impression that DDE was only available to Florida residents and annual passholders - is that correct?

You are correct. $85 for FL residents, $65 for AP holders

when it's available at CS locations, it's because TS locations aren't available. this does mean value resort food courts as well as POFQ's food court.

i point this out because while it is accepted at DAK's CS locations, that MIGHT change considering there will be 2 TS locations by the end of the year.

Yes, that's the rule of thumb. In fact, I completely missed the fact that the CS locations in AK took it - I could have saved 3 more bucks last month!

AllEars has a nice printable PDF file that has DDE, AP and DVC discounts all in one.

I don't know where the guide came with my card, and I only got it a month and a half ago...

Don't forget the free valet parkig at resorts when you are dining there. That's $10 a pop. Our card paid for itself in free valet parking. The 20% off the food and drinks has been the icing.

Keep in mind that the DDE card is just for AP and FL Res but, it doesn't mean that you can't use your AP for discounts. I have both while the DDE is great it is NOT accepted everywhere so I use my AP in the places that won't accept the DDE. Planet Hollywood, RainForest Cafe, etc..... all you have to do is go to the Disneyworld site and check out the AP benefits and there is a whole list of the establishments (retail, sporting, etc.....) and my favorite option with the DDE card is the free valet parking at the deluxe resorts. So if you want to go to the Poly and have dinner or just take the monorail into the MK you can have your car parked for free and brought back to you when you return. I always tip $5 to the valet and tell the gate attendant that we are here for dinner, its great at the end of a long day at the MK to just walk down stairs to your car, after exiting the resort monorail and not having to fight the crowds for a seat on the trams, and drive off. pirate:

I only consider the valet savings if I would have used it otherwise, which I wouldn't (just don't trust it that much, and I can use the walk). Also, I hear that they are quite often charging anyways, so check your charges...

Planet Hollywood supposedly does take the DDE. And places that take AP or DVC often only do for lunch or dinner, or have other limitations. The AllEars chart lets you know which is which.

Apparently, none of the places at the Swan and Dolphin take DDE - the only discount listed for them are for DVC.

Who told you they are charging anyway? They can't charge you if you don't pay them. Check what? I give them my keys, show them my DDE card and I'm on my way. Then when I'm done I get my car back. No money ever changes hands (except for a tip)

Believe me drive around the Poly looking for a spot while your 10 minutes late for an ADR and you'll be thankful for the free valet. Oh, yeah, and the guest parking for the GF is across the street.

Several reports somewhere on these boards said they were finding valet charges on their bill at checkout (or prior if they were checking). I don't know how the valet would know who to charge...
