I'm taking the family to New Mexico to surprise my mom for her 80th birthday, and can't wait. This was initially going to be just me and my family, as well as my brothers and their families, and mom's youngest brother, but it's grown to a whole lot more and simply can't wait. Mom has no idea what's going to hit her.
How's everyone (those who do it) enjoying the time change???
As for Genie, it grants the most "wishes" to the folks on site. By the time the windows open up for the off-site rabble, the choices can be limited and in some cases, nonexistent (particularly at HS)
Good that you got to do that.
Too bad about Mother Nature deciding to be so fickle though.
We were driving through Jax on Friday and dealt first hand with the deluge.
Nasty stuff...
Agreed, but I ain't so sure that it's going to get a whole lot better any time soon.
They don't care about catering to the Dis-Vets as much anymore as there seems to be a glut of newbies that are plenty willing to pay the current rates for the current returns.
Until they encounters that ceiling, it won't be getting much better.
Well, DW has been sick for a couple days with a bad cold... guess who's feeling just a little bit of a scratchy throat this morning?
Still hoping to avoid it, but know it's pretty inevitable. Luckily, it's just in time for my days off so...yay
Let me clarify that a bit.I hadn't heard that before. I wonder how much of an advantage it is. From what I heard, everyone was seeing return times well into the evening.
This sounds suspiciously like first world problems...Barely. I had to get up at 5 a.m. the morning of the time change to catch my flight.
So far still feel okay. That throat scratchy went away... so fingers crossed.Your timing is impeccable! Hope you feel better.
Ohhhh... okay, got it now.Let me clarify that a bit.
It's an access thing and relates mostly to the "Fancy Rides".
Let's say just for argument's sake that you'd consider paying the added charge for RotR to cut that insane wait down just a mite. The folks on site can (and will) start buying those spots up starting at 7am. If you ain't on site you'll be locked out until after the park in question actually opens better than an hour and half latter. Needless to say, by then you'll be looking at times approaching park close or it will already be sold out (which was our experience).
If you renege on the lease, they send you to the Russian front.Looks like I'll be signing paperwork for my apartment today. Excited, but also a bit scared...German law regarding canceling a lease is not friendly to the renter. Not figuring I'll need to, but still a bit of concern.
I hear that! Also looks like I may be buying a new car today. The used car prices are insane and when I can get a new Camry for 2k more than a 2018 ford focus(albeit a hybrid), fiscally, it makes sense...just didn't want another car payment.
"Work"?
Ummm, how exactly does Rebecca become Jaquellen?
BTW happy belated birthday Paul.
Sounds like a really cool surprise ya got planned.
Good on ya.
Have a good trip!
ummm... okay?
Oh, now it makes perfect sense.
Meh. You live in the USA. I'm pretty sure that no matter what you forget, you can buy it where you're going.
Okay, that would suck. Been there too.
Oh joy.FYI: the bill to make daylight savings permanent has passed the senate and now it’s up to the house to pass it…
Thanks....I think.Congrats on the apartment and the car Doc.
It's been 7 years since your last hump day?Oh and

Why?Oh joy.
There should be a bill to permanently abolish it.

I think we should stay on permanent standard time. Checking the sunrise times, if we have DST during the winter, the sun won't rise until about 9 AM whereas it rises at 8 now. However, if we had standard time in the summer, the sun would set at 8 pm instead of 9. That seems reasonable to me.Why?
The purpose for its original adoption has long since ceased to exist. Why?
Same problem I had over here. Used cars were almost as expensive as new. It sucks. Having to buy another new car just because for 2K more I have a warranty and no miles....yetOn the home front, I am currently in the market for a cheap used car for The Kid. As of 2 weeks ago, she has been licensed by the State of Oregon to propel 3500 pounds of steel down the road at high speeds. Now she thinks she needs to use that license to its fullest. Any car within her price range is a clunker and nicer cars cost more than mine did 2 years ago.
It's not the colonoscopy....it's the prep that sucks. Now, I get to look forward to a colonoscopy sometime in April. If I only knew all the joys of adulthood while I was growing up
No. But it's all the newest and latest Mexican stuff so almost as good. But I'm going to New Mexico, think I'll be able to get American stuff there?
Yeah I don't get that one. Abolish the stupid jumping back and forth, but why not permanently keep it on standard time?FYI: the bill to make daylight savings permanent has passed the senate and now it’s up to the house to pass it…
Yeah... for our own reasons (I mean the collective we, not the royal we) we go again despite the rising costs. To put my 2 cents in, going to Disney doesn't make financial sense at all but we are doing it anyway, although with some changes. For several personal reasons, we go the first week of April every year and are going again this year.
Isn't that horrible? The whole point of the Values was to make staying on site obtainable for everyone. Now it's only obtainable for the rich. The mods are for the filthy rich and the deluxes are for the disgustingly rich. For the first time ever, we are staying off site and renting a car as it is cheaper then staying at a value.
Congrats to your DD... condolences to you.As of 2 weeks ago, she has been licensed by the State of Oregon to propel 3500 pounds of steel down the road at high speeds.

Precisely my thoughts on it as well.I think we should stay on permanent standard time. And that's the truth...It's not the colonoscopy....it's the prep that sucks.
jaqsdad explained it better. It sounds to me what you are saying is we need to have a permanent set time year around and this bill is doing that. The purpose for its original adoption has long since ceased to exist.
If we just follow the natural progression of the sun, it gradually rises and sets earlier or later and our bodies adjust naturally and gradually. The way we'd done for thousands of years.
Everyone loves the fall back because they get an extra hour, but the spring forward cause productivity issues for several days.
From a technical standpoint with computers, having no 2:01 - 2:59 or having two of that range has caused countless problems over the years. It is a prime target for hackers because the traces of their activity can simply disappear.
Several states do not do daylight savings and wow, they do just fine!!!
My mistake then...jaqsdad explained it better. It sounds to me what you are saying is we need to have a permanent set time year around and this bill is doing that.
