DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning from a snow covered Westfield NB. Heading out in a few to some crack filling on the bathroom reno. then I'll relax for the rest of the day. Happy Sunday guys.

How much did you wind up getting? And I'm sure if felt good not having to get up to go plowing
We ended up with about 7 inches of snow. It was awesome , I slept in till 9:30

I've heard a lot worse outlooks. :)

I know some people who aren't even bothering with an outlook for the year.

But in a multi-verse, everything that can happen will happen.

This is true.

Happy Sunday for you.

Bet that felt good.

Happy Sunday. Made my morning walk and fooled Google tracking. They had me at 12 miles, when I was closer to 5.

And, finally some good news. DW has decided that she would like to travel around the US, visiting national parks. We should be able to begin in Summer/ Fall 2022. I asked if she would camp with me, and she said that sounded good. So, I've got 1.5 years to work to save up some extra $ and plan some trips. It's good to have a purpose.

The first soft drink I’ve had since November, 2019.

It goes by a lot of names - soft drink, cola, coke, pop, soda pop - and it's strong enough to turn you sideways. :lmao:

That's awesome! Congratulations on training your DD to be such a great tennis player, and congratulations to your DD for being so good at school and tennis. She'll go far.

I hope so. I've told both my girls that it's not about money, but finding work that makes you happy and pays your bills. Good luck on the clean out.

Morning chaps from a chilly London. A bit late , but Happy New Year to you and yours.
Maybe snow today, but snow in London is about 28 snowflakes over 500 sq km, and would bring the place to a standstill, except everything is at a standstill anyway. I was chatting to one of the dads yesterday, and I can't ever remember a White Christmas.

Back at work this morning to, frankly, nothing urgent, so hopefully should be a nice easy taxi out to the left runway for an smooth take off into 2021 work mode. Do we have Clearance Clarence? What's our Vector, Victor? Roger, Roger. What? Huh? Who?

Back on the running and the Keto, so 10k over the last 2 days and had my last beer and bread until Easter last night. Good job I stocked up on Bourbon over Xmas.

We've been busy in the CapeCodTenor household cleaning and organizing these past few days (trying to take advantage of the time that I have left before I start working), and progress has been made but we still have lot to do.
We are on that as well. Sorted the kids toy cupboard, gave about 5 bags away to the local special needs school, that the kids selected, so they get its not all about them.
Half sorted the attic. Have some shelving system turning up on Weds which should let me sort out the outside stores.
But in a multi-verse, everything that can happen will happen.
In a multi-verse, one could argue that everything that can happen, not only will happen, but has happened as well.
Only two days left in the break for me, wish I was getting ready to head to DDCC.
I should have been flying on Weds afternoon. Now I have a week building stuff. Hey ho, first world problems.

I'm sure I'll be back later, to kick tyres, chew some baccy and tell stories.

Have a good one.

Morning All.

Add me to the list of people back to work. New employee officially starts today although he will be working from a hotel for the next two weeks. Moved here from Ontario so that means 14 days of self-isolation.

No snow today and the temps are just below the freezing mark so not bad for January.

Have a good one!

Hay y'all...
Have been missing for a couple weeks. Hope everyone had a fine set of holidays, and may the new year bring us all at least a little bit of progress back toward something more like what we're used to. We'll see.

Have been working form the house the last week, and starting off the same way this morning. We're in the midst of doing a fairly serious overhaul of the kitchen in our house and I needed to be here as the folks doing the work showed up to get started (I'll show you some pics of the mayhem as the work progresses; could be entertaining). I'll have to see if the overlords will let me work the mornings at home and afternoons in the office for a bit to try and keep some control over whats going on 'round out little humble (sounds reasonable to me at least).

The flight sale windows started yesterday, so I've been a busy bunny. Orlando is booked for Halloween week, so we can see some of the 50th Anniversary stuff, and Montreal/Tremblant is done, so thats something to look forward to.

Happy New Year to all of you. I've been resting at home, not doing much of anything.
You did build some lovely LEGO though....

Lovely stuff, always look forward to seeing site photos. I would show you guys how New York and Legoland Windsor are progressing if I could.

Hopefully we let you in by then.

Morning, Chaps! Haha Did something different. All is well in the land of Tenor. The DD really wants to get back to school, mommy and daddy both are ready for her to get back to school. :teeth: Still working on cleaning and organizing the house, but progress is being made. I start work in one week and I'm looking forward to that, really can't wait. Outside that I've got nothing. Have a good day, Gents.

Happy Sunday. Made my morning walk and fooled Google tracking. They had me at 12 miles, when I was closer to 5.

How'd you manage that?

And, finally some good news. DW has decided that she would like to travel around the US, visiting national parks. We should be able to begin in Summer/ Fall 2022. I asked if she would camp with me, and she said that sounded good. So, I've got 1.5 years to work to save up some extra $ and plan some trips. It's good to have a purpose.

That's awesome! If you make it to New Mexico there's a couple there you can get through. Ok, there's more than that, but there's White Sands National Park, brand spanky new. When established, it was, and had been, a National Monument. Now it's a full blown National Park. The other I'm thinking of is Carlsbad Caverns. Both of these parks are in the southern part of the state.

It goes by a lot of names - soft drink, cola, coke, pop, soda pop - and it's strong enough to turn you sideways. :lmao:

For me it's a Coke then I specify from there.

I hope so. I've told both my girls that it's not about money, but finding work that makes you happy and pays your bills. Good luck on the clean out.

Great advice you gave your girls, wish I had followed that when I was younger. I went the music route, and while I love what I studied, I found a wife through it, I just wish I had followed my dream of working in the aviation field.

That sounds like my hometown, one small snow fall and the whole place is at a standstill.

"Smooth take off into 2021?" It's not the take off we need to worry about, it's the flight. 2020 hit some serious turbulence that 2021 needs to avoid. :teeth:

Back on the running and the Keto, so 10k over the last 2 days and had my last beer and bread until Easter last night. Good job I stocked up on Bourbon over Xmas.

God Bless, my friend! May you succeed in your Keto diet.

I'd love for my DD to get rid of some of her toys, but she's a true thrifty Yankee and that she does not like to get rid of things. She is her grampy's granddaughter.

Glad to see you're back, Rob! We've added to our house twice since we moved in, added a family room and a second floor, and I'd rather go through that again than to go through a kitchen remodel. God Bless you, my friend.

Good morning! Happy New Year to all of you. I've been resting at home, not doing much of anything. Turned my brain off for a week, but I'm back now.

Most of you will not notice a difference.

Was it hard getting your brain started again?

I told her to go wherever she wants, but I would recommend the one that gives her the most $.
Careful!
This may be what you mean, but the most towards tuition(percent or least owed after). 100k for 500k tuition isn't as good as 20k for 40k tuition.

wish I was getting ready to head to DDCC.

We're getting the snow down here too. I'm glad I don't have to get up at 2am to go plowing.
:woohoo:

Here is the storm forecast for the Maritimes
:lmao:

And, another day of retirement. Been a full morning with another 5 mile walk, laundry, & walk to the grocery store. Got a whole, raw coconut, drank it, and then cracked it. I forgot how difficult it was removing the meat, but it was worth it. Delicious. Time for EPL. Have a good day.

Don't notice much of anything that matters to anyone. Congrats to the Eagles on the higher draft pick though.

Yes, most are wanting to go back to school, which is difficult to believe. But, with all these lockdowns, it makes sense.

That's awesome! If you make it to New Mexico there's a couple there you can get through. Ok, there's more than that, but there's White Sands National Park, brand spanky new. I'd like to try a plan like Mark, and visit all 50 states. I can see a plan where I drive west from here, camp in different states, and end up in DisneyLand for a few days. I'd like to tent camp, and those sites can be free or $10-$15 a night. I'd also go camp in dry tortugas, which really is primitive camping, followed by a drive to the Keys.

Great advice you gave your girls, wish I had followed that when I was younger. I went the music route, and while I love what I studied, I found a wife through it, I just wish I had followed my dream of working in the aviation field.

Just wish I had known it to follow it myself.

Careful!

Yes, I wasn't clear enough. I meant most $ that would cost her the least.

Back on the running and the Keto, so 10k over the last 2 days and had my last beer and bread until Easter last night. Good job I stocked up on Bourbon over Xmas.
Back to moving too... although I hadn't really stopped. But the diet sure took a beating over the holidays. Ran 5K on Friday, 8K on Saturday and 5K yesterday. Today I walked 8K with my sister.
In a multi-verse, one could argue that everything that can happen, not only will happen, but has happened as well.
you already said that.

Whoops! Nevermind. That wasn't here.
may the new year bring us all at least a little bit of progress back toward something more like what we're used to
Amen.
We're in the midst of doing a fairly serious overhaul of the kitchen
And good luck with that!
Turned my brain off for a week, but I'm back now.
How can you tell?
Most of you will not notice a difference.
Whoops! You beat me to it.
Orlando is booked for Halloween week, so we can see some of the 50th Anniversary stuff, and Montreal/Tremblant is done, so thats something to look forward to.
Sweet!
Hope you got a better deal on Montreal than what you'd seen earlier.
Just an FYI, and things hopefully will change by then... They just imposed new restrictions on travel that started a couple days ago.

"Starting 11:59 pm (EST) January 6, 2021, air travellers 5 years of age or older will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 molecular test result to the airline prior to boarding international flights bound for Canada."

Details on all restrictions here: COVID-19: Travel, quarantine and borders - Travel.gc.ca
Let's hope so, for all our sakes.
