DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Happy Sunday. Read an article today from NPR that 85% of Californians are on stay at home orders thru Christmas. Good thing the science cleared the NFL players to travel. :rolleyes1

49ers have moved to Arizona and the Chargers and the Rams are getting ready to move out of the state as well.

Aside from Reindeer-gate, COVID strikes again in our house. One of the boy's classmates had it, so that means his whole class is in self isolation. We aren't but he is for 2 weeks.
The whole infant school shut down on Friday evening as they have run out of teachers. That's chucked a spoke in a fair few plans.

Sadly, I think we're all going to have stories like these throughout the winter.

I've just got through the first season.
He could cheer up a bit. Crack a funny once in a while. Maybe the "pull my finger" gag.

I enjoyed season 1. For a while, it was just a Western with the villain-of-the-week structure, but the last 2 episodes of season 1 were really good. Season 2 started the same way, but episodes 5 and 6 really kicked it up a notch. I get most of my comic relief from Baby Yoda.

That being said, more fart jokes are always welcome.

I keep forgetting to watch Season 2. I need to get on that.

It's fun!

Do you have to keep him locked up in his room?

"Donner"'s name is Dunder or Donder in the poems. My kids find it really funny when I correct them, as I can't not bite, so they say it deliberately. And Blitzens name is actually Blixem. He's only known as Donner because Johnny Marks sang it wrong in the song.
I'm not sure I agree with you...in Twas the night before Christmas, it's Donner as well. Unless of course that was after Johnny Marks. I confess, I've never heard of Johnny Marks and have no idea of dates or timeline of items in question.

Who would have thought that this would be the issue of the day?

Ponzie did a great job on detail, so I'll do the Cliffs notes version

Twas Poem first published -1823 - Dunder and Blixem (Livingstone, probably)
Twas Poem tweaked - 1840ish - Donder and Blitzen (Moore)
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Song - (Johnny Marks) 1940s -.Donner and Blitzen
From then on in Donner was adopted in various reprints of the poem. So you are quoting the 1940s onwards tweaked version. Not the original text.

Well another Monday workday done, two more to go and I'm done for the year. Dw had a nice birthday, considering the covid restrictions. A lot of drive by family and friends wishing her happy birthday.

Thanks. How did the zebra cake turn out?
It turned out pretty good for the first time making it.

Hay y'all,
Hope y'ens are well and prospering.

I actually signed on for a spot of my own vacation time today.
Of course, it's simply because I have a medical procedure scheduled for this afternoon. A minor (but necessary) bit of preventative medicine here. The anesthesia is the only part of it that has anything that even resembles risk (unless they find something that is). But the prep work that has to be done beforehand is the truly horrific part of the processes.

I assume your furnace is working again and you didn't just pee on yourself.
I ain't quite that old yet.

Ain't dead yet either.

I have an interview in Indiana on Tuesday for a therapist job with an LLC.
How'd that one go.
It sounds like one of the more promising possibilities.

Been a long night and day, had a small taste of what you dealt with last week Rob. Huge wind and rain storm knocked out our power last night around 11:30 and stayed out until about 2:30 this afternoon.
Glad that was relatively short term.
A lack of proper climate control up your way can be a whole lot more detrimental then it might be down here.

They did have the little stations but they weren't for things you would want to taste. Unless you are one of those crazy kids who is in to Tide Pods.
Yep...
No food being given away down here either. Just coupons for things most folks don't really want.

Whoa... what a rabbit hole you sent me on. I was pretty confused to learn of Donder and Blixem.
Spent a while checking out various web sites.
That...
Is some quality research there.

Nicely done sir.

Flossie and Glossie, Racer and Pacer, Fearless and Peerless, Ready and Steady, Feckless and Speckless.
Wow...
Those are awful.

Seriously, would you want one of the anchor members of your team to be named after a state of irresponsibility and waywardness?

luckily there was a Star Wars marathon on TV, so I popped some popcorn and plopped myself down in my chair and didn't move unless I had to. Christmas tree got set up yesterday.
We had (well, I mean, I had) them running in the back ground while working on the decorations as well. Tree's up, but everything else is a mess while we figure out the best way to do up the new residence. It's a weird space in that it's bigger than the last one, but at the same time, it's not. Harder to make a plan.

Never understood the whole eating Tide Pods.
Herd & peer mentality combined with a lack of forethought and anything that resembles the initiative required to do even a smidgen of research.

The Mandalorian is an awesome show. That's all I got for you.
And that's plenty for now.
Agreed and even my Missus is enjoying this series.

I am however in a state of mourning after the last episode.

That's unfortunate, to say the least.
May the precautions become no more then that.

Money and power would be what's driving that decision.
The science long said that the season was a bad idea.

For a while, it was just a Western with the villain-of-the-week structure
Yeah, but I can live with that.
I even consider the first of the films to be one of my favorite westerns.

Well another Monday workday done, two more to go and I'm done for the year.
That's a good schedule.
Enjoy the tiime.

A mite touchy, huh?

Hey who is having tacos?
Not today, that's for dang sure.
The thought is making be a bit nauseous.

Well, a bit more nauseous, then I already am, that is.

Afternoon fellas, from a freezing, foggy mother country.
COVID just ticked up a notch in Casa Del Danny today, the boy threw up and had a temperature last night. So off we trotted this morning for a test, hopefully we find out tomorrow. So all of us are in Self isolation.

A minor (but necessary) bit of preventative medicine here.
All the best buddy, hope it goes well.

And it's a real pleasure to have you on this late in the season. Kinda like....(insert your own perjorative football team joke here)
Seriously, would you want one of the anchor members of your team to be named after a state of irresponsibility and waywardness?
Agreed, but I guess it's not much worse than Speeding and Shagging, that we currently have.
It turned out pretty good for the first time making it.
Not for the poor Zebra.
(only jk mate, looks delish)
He may wash every day, but sweat and vulcanised rubber are never a good mix. So they tell me. Ahem.

Hope he's negative and you all stay safe.

Morning, gents.
I think today is wrapping gifts day. Being a man, that's a big deal.

Good luck. Hope it’s negative. Either way hope he gets well soon

I'm pretty sure those are the names of E.T.'s friends from his home planet on the Universal ride.

I am however in a state of mourning after the last episode.

Well, the season isn't over yet. And it was worth it to see a certain character finally do something cool after 40 years of hype.

Yeah, but I can live with that.
I even consider the first of the films to be one of my favorite westerns.

I think the "Star Wars Western" vibe is pretty neat.

Ugh. May your tests be negative and your isolation be short.

I do most of the wrapping but pass them off to DW for any type of bow or ribbon.

I try. I really do. But they always end up looking like I backed over them with the car.
