DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Happy Tuesday. A lot sure does happen in a day. Went in at 1:30 AM for my UPS shift. Today, was larger than Cyber Monday. Had to leave early, didn't say the reason, and had my interview. Came home, and lost 4 pounds from day before - mostly sweat. Showered and drove to the interview. If you guessed it, that's 3 for 3, technically 5 for 5 counting Ragu and UPS. Just can't figure out why all these people wanna hire a crazy, conspiracy guy. Must be a profound level of desperation in a massively unemployed labor force. Yet, I digress. Got the salary offer I wanted, with extra pay for more clients seen (that's standard), ok mileage rate, good leave time, and supervision towards my independent license. The worst part about my job is the daily drive across the river. And while I won't have to get permission from the KY retirement Board, but I will have to get permission from Indiana's licensure board. Ugh.

49ers have moved to Arizona and the Chargers and the Rams are getting ready to move out of the state as well.

Getting ready? Maybe they are using the enterprise - not the rental - the beam me up Scotty. Although, COVID might still get them aboard the starship.

It turned out pretty good for the first time making it.

Looks good, but I would have been a better judge of that if you sent me some.

Money and power would be what's driving that decision.
The science long said that the season was a bad idea.

::yes::

Have a good vacation, er um, procedure. Maybe you're insurance covers the total recall option. Eliminate 2020.

Afternoon fellas, from a freezing, foggy mother country.
COVID just ticked up a notch in Casa Del Danny today, the boy threw up and had a temperature last night. So off we trotted this morning for a test, hopefully we find out tomorrow. So all of us are in Self isolation.

Hope he gets well quickly and it doesn't run thru the house.

I really don't try, and they end up looking like I backed over them with the car.

(There's a lesson in here somewhere)

Well, congrats! Maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

Congratulations?

I do most of the wrapping but pass them off to DW for any type of bow or ribbon.
Coward!
I'm pretty sure those are the names of E.T.'s friends from his home planet on the Universal ride.
Love that ride but... hate that part of it.
I try. I really do. But they always end up looking like I backed over them with the car.
Maybe try running them over with the car. Maybe then they’ll look nicely wrapped.

Even better news. My new boss called me back and then emailed me a job offer as a case manager starting immediately while waiting for the licensure board. So, I have to go be fingerprinted tomorrow, and assuming I pass or 007 hasn't stolen my identity, I'm re-employed full time (at lesser pay). And since it is in another state, no KY retirement Board approval is needed. :dancer:

Time to give up on UPS. I'm too old for that $&!t.

Well, congrats! Maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

:thumbsup2

Congratulations?

Morning, Gents! Woke up yesterday to a light dusting of snow, which was gone by mid-morning, but it actually snowed! I do believe winter's trying to make an entrance. As much as I hate shoveling snow, I do hope we get at least one good snowstorm. Spent most of yesterday online looking for work, tweaking my resume to fit the job I was applying for and whatever else I could do to secure work. I'm almost at the point of looking for seasonal jobs somewhere...but we'll see. I did apply to a couple of Per Diem jobs with the local healthcare group. I'm not expecting anything from them as they are notoriously difficult to get on with, but I figure, "Hey! It's per diem, maybe I have a shot." and when for it. It is the season for the Christmas miracle, so anything is possible.

Oh, there is no cutting back here. We are in full on spend mode, always have been. DW and I perpetually overspent, just on different things. We haven't figured in out in 20 years, so we aren't likely to now. It's sad that I have to find extra income to support extra spending.

My DW is a big penny pincher. Me? I don't over spend, but I do spend more than I should....so a balance? Probably not, but I'd like to think so. :teeth: Actually, I have cut back a lot. Most of my spending came in the form of food. The law firm I worked at in Boston had a full-Service cafeteria, so I bought more lunches than I took to work. Now that I'm working closer to home I'm not spending as much on food...though if I'm out and it's close to lunch, well...:teeth:

I enjoyed season 1. For a while, it was just a Western with the villain-of-the-week structure, but the last 2 episodes of season 1 were really good. Season 2 started the same way, but episodes 5 and 6 really kicked it up a notch. I get most of my comic relief from Baby Yoda.

Episodes 5 and 6 definitely kicked it up a notch. And yeah, Baby Yoda is the comic relief in that show.

That being said, more fart jokes are always welcome.

Who doesn't like a good fart joke?

Hey who is having tacos?

I had tacos last night. :thumbsup2

Hay y'all,
Hope y'ens are well and prospering.

I actually signed on for a spot of my own vacation time today.
Of course, it's simply because I have a medical procedure scheduled for this afternoon. A minor (but necessary) bit of preventative medicine here. The anesthesia is the only part of it that has anything that even resembles risk (unless they find something that is). But the prep work that has to be done beforehand is the truly horrific part of the processes.

Hope your procedure went well.

We had (well, I mean, I had) them running in the back ground while working on the decorations as well. Tree's up, but everything else is a mess while we figure out the best way to do up the new residence. It's a weird space in that it's bigger than the last one, but at the same time, it's not. Harder to make a plan.

Decorating a new house is always an interesting adventure. We've been in our house now 15 years, and I still don't know from year to year how I'm going to decorate.

Herd & peer mentality combined with a lack of forethought and anything that resembles the initiative required to do even a smidgen of research.

That's what it is. Someone at some point thought it would be fun to try, and then got some of his/her friends to try it. (Shakes head at the stupidity of it.)

Hope the little guy tests negative for the virus, and that no one else in your family gets it.

Morning, folks.
Survived the wrapping day. Still have a couple to do, but need to finish a couple things first. Have a good one.

As much as I hate shoveling snow, I do hope we get at least one good snowstorm.
I'm at that spot too. Need a bit of white for Christmas. But... if it's a brown Christmas, it'll pretty much match the whole year, so...

Okay... that's pretty funny.

I'd love to get out and do some snow photography, so I'd like one good storm. I would love a white Christmas, brown Christmases are so...blah!

Continued best wishes and good luck!

Thanks, man....appreciate it.

Happy Wednesday. Wow, what a great night of sleep I had. Night shift work is for the young.

Showered and drove to the interview. If you guessed it, that's 3 for 3, technically 5 for 5 counting Ragu and UPS. Just can't figure out why all these people wanna hire a crazy, conspiracy guy.

Upon further review, it is 5 out of 6. I didn't get the Hospice job.

Nice! Congrats dude. :thumbsup2

Thanks.

In that case, Congratulations!!! 🍾🎉🎈🎊

Thanks.

Congrats Norm.

Thanks.

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!
(BTW,I’m going to Disney World in 1the 17 days)

Is it a secret you're going to WDW? We had a great trip summer, outside of all the mask wearing.

My DW is a big penny pincher. Me? I don't over spend, but I do spend more than I should....so a balance? Probably not, but I'd like to think so. :teeth: Actually, I have cut back a lot. Good luck on the job search.

And we definitely spend too much on food.

Survived the process...
They found a couple of minor spots, but once the pathology is done, They're likely to be a none issue.

So now I get to go back to work!
Yeah?

COVID just ticked up a notch in Casa Del Danny today, the boy threw up and had a temperature last night. So off we trotted this morning for a test, hopefully we find out tomorrow.
Well, that's not good.
May there be a negative result in the offing.

And it's a real pleasure to have you on this late in the season. Kinda like....(insert your own perjorative football team joke here)
Trying to stay engaged .
So far, so Ehhh...
And to think I used to love the holidays.

What?
You employer actually gives you time off for stuff like that?

Well, the season isn't over yet. And it was worth it to see a certain character finally do something cool after 40 years of hype.
That part...
That was excellent.

Although I still hated see the complete loss of one of my favorite characters.
We'll have to see how that pans out.

Have a good vacation, er um, procedure. Maybe you're insurance covers the total recall option. Eliminate 2020.
Time line adjustments aren't part of the coverage, unfortunately.
It'll cover the vast bulk of the procedure though.

Then again, if I subtract that total from what it costs me per year to basically increase the wealth of their board of directer, I'm still loosing on the deal.

Badly.

Even better news. My new boss called me back and then emailed me a job offer as a case manager starting immediately while waiting for the licensure board.
A very good thing indeed.
The drive is the obvious downside, but is it worse then the one you use to have to make regularly?

(BTW,I’m going to Disney World in 1the 17 days)
And we're glad four you.

Didn’t want to rub it in...
Sure...

Afternoon gents! Sorry to hear of the possible COVID situation Dan is dealing with,. Not much to report around here, had a good long weekend just hanging with the family and enjoying our Anniversary weekend #27! Long couple of weeks work wise before the Holiday season hits full swing and we had a distribution center team member test positive today - this dang thing seems to be everywhere these days.

Learn how to wrap presents (or don't so you can get out of it) or you can purchase gift bags in assorted sizes with pretty tie bows to seal the bags like I do, they look great! Stay safe and enjoy the season my friends!
Aside from Reindeer-gate, COVID strikes again in our house. One of the boy's classmates had it, so that means his whole class is in self isolation. We aren't but he is for 2 weeks.
The whole infant school shut down on Friday evening as they have run out of teachers. That's chucked a spoke in a fair few plans.

Sorry to hear and hope it's just a minor bug of some type. Keep us posted and hope all are negative (in a good sort of way)
Well another Monday workday done, two more to go and I'm done for the year. Dw had a nice birthday, considering the covid restrictions. A lot of drive by family and friends wishing her happy birthday.
Happy birthday to the better half!

Sounds like you lost some weight, cleaned the pluming and all went well

Good deal Norm, congrats!

That would be about the gist of it.

If there is an upside to the process though, it would be that I'm back to my Summer-time /Pre-Thanksgiving weight. Not particularly the method I'd like to using on a regular bases.
But it is a method...
