DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Caught up on the Mandalorian. Episode 5 and 6 were terrific, and I won't post for spoilers. But, it sure left a lot of questions which is one of the problems of movies/ tv shows trying to insert into an existing timeline.

Didn’t want to rub it in...

Well, I'm jealous of everyone living in southern Florida where it's warm. Happy jealous, if that makes any sense.

Survived the process...
They found a couple of minor spots, but once the pathology is done, They're likely to be a none issue.

Prayers for good test results.

Time line adjustments aren't part of the coverage, unfortunately.
It'll cover the vast bulk of the procedure though.

Then again, if I subtract that total from what it costs me per year to basically increase the wealth of their board of directer, I'm still loosing on the deal.

Badly.

It's rare that anyone wins against the insurance company, otherwise, they wouldn't be in business. I don't know which are better odds - insurance or lottery.

The drive is comparable, just in the opposite direction. It also won't be a fixed location, so it could be more or less. It would have been nice to have a shorter drive, but I'm really just looking at this in yearly increments. Assuming I make it, life will be really different in 3 years.

Congratulations!!

Thanks.

Afternoon gents! Sorry to hear of the possible COVID situation Dan is dealing with,. Not much to report around here, had a good long weekend just hanging with the family and enjoying our Anniversary weekend #27! Long couple of weeks work wise before the Holiday season hits full swing and we had a distribution center team member test positive today - this dang thing seems to be everywhere these days.

Good deal Norm, congrats!

Thanks. Happy Anniversary.

I'd love to get out and do some snow photography, so I'd like one good storm. I would love a white Christmas, brown Christmases are so...blah!
I have great ideas for snow photography. Unfortunately, I had them in the summer and are all forgotten now. Yesterday, I had a great idea for a summer photo...
Wow, what a great night of sleep I had. Night shift work is for the young.
It is.
I remember... years, and years and years ago (about 30, to be more precise), I was talking to this super old dude and he said to me "So you like the night shift? Just wait. It gets a lot harder when you're older.
Of course I figured he was a doddering ol' fool. What does he know? pffftt...

:sad2:

I am that old man now and I say the same thing to the kids that work with me.
Survived the process...

That's good. Always nice to get a thumbsup from the doc. Well, hopefully that's not what he used, butt....

Morning chaps from another vaguely chilly one in Ol' London Town. Writing a completely new shop fitting manual today, so may nip back and forth on here to keep my sanity. Apart from I have to look at a ceiling via Facetime in Dallas. So I'll virtually wave at @TekMickey on my way through the internet.
On a positive note, the boy was negative on his test, so we are back out into the wild.

Good man.
brown Christmases are so...blah!
I would cook your Turkey for longer to avoid a Brown Christmas.
Camel laughinf with guys, funny gif
That could be my favourite

Morning all. My fingerprint background check returned clear, so I begin working Monday at 10 AM. Two more days until I come out of retirement - again.

It is.

And they probably don't listen to you either. :sad2:

Before FIL retired, the employees were union and they all met for discussions on the contract. He said that towards the end when he was one of the old guys, he would try to be the voice of reason for the younger workers. They would trade most anything for a quarter more an hour, including things like time off, insurance, etc.

That's good. Always nice to get a thumbsup from the doc. Well, hopefully that's not what he used, butt....

Does it depend on the size of the thumb? :scared1: :lmao:

The comedian Ron White included a series of jokes about a bidet, ultimately concluding he had to return to use it multiple times a day.

Top O the Mornin Dads! As some of you have read on the other place, I'm cancelling for DDCC9 with all that is going on and considering family and work situations. It sucks, but not seeing DD and SIL at all for the holidays sucks more but we have a lot more holidays and DDCC events to look forward to. At the end of day all good and it is what it is. Stay safe and keep enjoying the holiday time.

Great to hear Dan, early Christmas present for sure

Happy anniversary!

That would be about the gist of it.

If there is an upside to the process though, it would be that I'm back to my Summer-time /Pre-Thanksgiving weight. Not particularly the method I'd like to using on a regular bases.
But it is a method...

On the plus side, that method is fairly quick.

Caught up on the Mandalorian. Episode 5 and 6 were terrific, and I won't post for spoilers. But, it sure left a lot of questions which is one of the problems of movies/ tv shows trying to insert into an existing timeline.

I try not to concern myself too much with dotting every i in the larger universe. At its core, we're watching a show about people who fight each other with laser swords.

It is.

Sounds like the conversations I have with my teens. I keep trying to convince them that I'm their biggest fan and when I offer advice, it's because I have been through these things before...

Of course, I'm a doddering ol' fool.

Writing a completely new shop fitting manual today, so may nip back and forth on here to keep my sanity.

Boy, that sounds like a good time. Make sure you include a cliffhanger ending, so they'll want to come back for the next one.

On a positive note, the boy was negative on his test, so we are back out into the wild.

Glad to hear it!

My fingerprint background check returned clear
How did you manage that!?!? Impressive!

:rolleyes1

Yikes! Management will always gladly take what you're willing to give up.

Top Ten Reasons To Procrastinate

1.
Will reply to this later.

ways nice to get a thumbsup from the doc. Well, hopefully that's not what he used, butt....
I was unconscious at the time, so...

Butt (borrowing you spelling here), being as we are discussing something that ought to be universally mark: Exit Only...

Does it really matter what implement was used?
I mean, assault is assault regardless.

On a positive note, the boy was negative on his test, so we are back out into the wild.
Well, apart form the young'en still feeling rotten of course, this is generally good news. Not so much from the point of view of "the wild" into which you've been released - knowing y'all - but otherwise good.

Morning all. My fingerprint background check returned clear, so I begin working Monday at 10 AM. Two more days until I come out of retirement - again.
All good.
May this work out well for you.

On the plus side, that method is fairly quick.
Quick, yes...

And brutal.

At its core, we're watching a show about people who fight each other with laser swords.
Succinct and to the point.
Nice job of summing up there, Inigo.

Of course, I'm a doddering ol' fool.
Yep, and so am I.
And the only good thing about this irrefutable fact is that we get to laugh at your young'ens as they inevitable descend into the same morass over time.

Just as our folks laughed their arrses off at us back in the day.

Having nothing better to do at the moment...
I think I'll toss out some more images from our 2018 road trip down to the gulf coast (and if you feel like you can't scroll by this mess fast enough, just wait till the next post and I'll really bore y'all to death)

Anyway, We headed back toward home from Nola via Mobile, AL.
New Orleans may be renowned for Mardi Gras, but it was Mobile that first started throwing a big yearly shindig just before lent. But we'd missed both parties by this time of the year, so we settled on a stop at a small museum dedicated to the history of it...

As you can see (apart from the oversized jesters) even the building was somewhat interesting. It was also in the midst of the old residential area and right across from a right pretty public square...

Anyway, getting back to the museum itself. It was a decent little distraction and there were a few interesting things to see...

We rather liked the dragon.
Here's a closer look at his eye...

543190

Most of the rest of the place was dedicated to costumes and the elaborate coronation attire worn by past kings and queens of the festivities. As such, I've decided not to bore y'all too much with that kind of thing. Especially as I have better things with which to bore you.

Be afraid...
Be very afraid...

Remember, I did warn you...
Except maybe for our resident tenor, most of y'all may want to be scowling by this one.

Post hast.

You see, there's a historic ship down in Mobile.
And if you know anything about me, you can guess that I wasn't going to be passing by that without climbing aboard (and dragging my DW along for the trek through every compartment, passage way and up and down every ladder that that wasn't chained off and marked "No Admittance").

So welcome aboard BB-60:

543194

Otherwise known as the USS Alabama.

543196

A USN South Dakota Class Battleship commissioned in mid 1942 as the Second World War was just getting underway (from the US perspective, that is).

543202

543203

The signal flags there are her radio call sign:
November - Echo - Mike - Whiskey

(although during the time this ship was in fighting trim, the mates in the radio shack at the time would have said: Nan - Easy - Mike - William, but I'm more use to the modern NATO signals, myself).

543210

A nice shot of a couple of the starboard 5"/38-cal twin mounts.

Not to be confused in any way with the nine 16"/45s in the main turrets...

543212

To me the interesting part of old ships like this is that they don't necessarily look "old". Not on the outside at least. It's only when you get inside and see the controls and living spaces that you get a sense of their vintage...

Well, I've hit hit ten picture limit.
I'll post more tomorrow, so be prepared to ignore 'em.

Afternoon all, it's a William J Lapedomane kinda day today here. Kinda have a jones'in for some righteous Bagels. I may get up super early tomorrow and shoot down into the Old East end.

Second World War was just getting underway (from the US perspective, that is).
Good clarification :thumbsup2
Nice pictures bud.
Make sure you include a cliffhanger ending, so they'll want to come back for the next one.
Oh, it's a real page turner. I'm just about to drop the plot twist that we don't have line out the walls with OSB anymore, as the fixture's inertia weight is now driven to the floor and we only need a angle bracket to secure. I think that's up there at least with Who Shot JR Ewing, and Kaiser Soze. Just wait till I tell them about the new shopfront. That'll be like Vader and Luke being brothers, or in laws, or whatever it is.
Well, apart form the young'en still feeling rotten of course, this is generally good news. Not so much from the point of view of "the wild" into which you've been released - knowing y'all - but otherwise good
Cheers all for the good vibes, truth is he was kinda OK from Tuesday, we had to sit on our hands for the test results and he was in self isolation anyways.
As much as we hate him being on screens all the time he can blag it, it has been a help in 2020. Half of the year they weren't allowed outside anyway, and the garden only holds so much appeal. It also now with the social games allows him to interact with his mates.

Have a tremendous day chaps.

Huh? Did you say something?

Does it really matter what implement was used?
I mean, assault is assault regardless
Well, to an extent, yes
Finger or thumb, not so much.
Baseball bat....most definitely would matter.

Kinda along the lines of hitting someone with a wet noodle vs nunchucks.

Does the Old East end have better bagels than the New East end and is the Old East end east or west of the New East end. ;)

Yikes! Management will always gladly take what you're willing to give up.

Man, that's so true.

We all know that about you, so they're not wrong.

I can't really argue with it, either.

Will reply to this later.

Still waiting...

And the only good thing about this irrefutable fact is that we get to laugh at your young'ens as they inevitable descend into the same morass over time.

Just as our folks laughed their arrses off at us back in the day.

So at least we get the satisfaction of being right. Not that we can rub it in, or anything.

I think I'll toss out some more images from our 2018 road trip down to the gulf coast (and if you feel like you can't scroll by this mess fast enough, just wait till the next post and I'll really bore y'all to death)

I'm enjoying them. It's about as close as I can get to traveling for the time being.

We rather liked the dragon.
Here's a closer look at his eye...

That is quite the piece of work.

Otherwise known as the USS Alabama.

Hey, I saw that!

...from the interstate.

The signal flags there are her radio call sign:
November - Echo - Mike - Whiskey

Which, of course, stands for Never Eat Moldy Walrus.

Nice shot there!

Oh, it's a real page turner. I'm just about to drop the plot twist that we don't have line out the walls with OSB anymore, as the fixture's inertia weight is now driven to the floor and we only need a angle bracket to secure.

Geez, how about a spoiler alert next time!

As much as we hate him being on screens all the time he can blag it, it has been a help in 2020. Half of the year they weren't allowed outside anyway, and the garden only holds so much appeal. It also now with the social games allows him to interact with his mates.

Yeah...the way this year has gone, devices have been a real blessing.
