DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Disney Springs opening May 20. I wish WDW would say we could make the Juky 20 reservation. Otherwise, I could rebook for December today at BWV.

The idea is to slow the amount of infections so the medical systems aren't overwhelmed, not prevent it.
Any hospital can handle a few cases at a time. What they can't do is handle 1,000+ at once.

University of Kentucky Hospital laid off 1500 staff. Local hospitals furloughed staff. My Regional Hospital has nurses doing kitchen sanitation. Not yet 300 deaths, with 56% in nursing homes. State revenue shortfall of $432 million. There are real numbers and real people hurting from the massive unemployment. Has the spread lowered yet? I think it's obvious they used faulty data and overprojected.

Top O the Mornin Dads and a very happy Friday Eve! Fall weather big time here and out of firewood so gonna need to see what I can find today. Anybody else having a hard time finding propane tanks for you gas grills? Stores around here been out for like a month now? Have a good one gents!

Today's Top WDW list is.............................
Top 3 ideas to replace Dinocarnival in AK. Has to be Disney IP and tie to the theme of AK and nature / animals so put on you Imagineer hats

I still have a propane tank. I'll sell it for a bajillion dollars.

Replace Dinocarnival land?
Simulator based off the jungle book
Talk w/ Simba (like Turtle Talk)
A roller coaster chasing Kevin from Up

Just got word, my interview's tomorrow, don't know when yet, but it'll be tomorrow. I know I already do the job and I know this, but I hate interviews. I can talk to anyone, and I know this job, but in an interviews make me nervous. We'll see, and I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Good luck on the interview.

I think a lot of us have the same reaction when we look at the Dinoland area. And yet, I was reading a story about the creation of it. The Imagineers came up with a whole backstory for the area--that fossils were discovered in the area and as typically happens in the U.S., a tourist industry quickly sprang up, with lots of cheesy tourist traps ready to take advantage of the people flocking to the area to see the fossils.
Like most of us, I don't like the area and spend as little time as possible in it.
BUT I also know the Imagineers back story and I have to admit I'm fascinated by it and I think the story is cool. But not cool enough to keep it there.

But! You're still working!
Yes, taking it day by day....

Hmm...I like some of the ideas that have been suggested already.

I would like to see Indiana Jones there, just not sure how that IP fits into AK. Unless Indy suddenly looks for dinosaur fossils instead of golden idols.
I've heard whispers of Zootopia going there (I believe Shanghai is adding that land). I guess that fits into AK a little, but certainly not in an ecological/educational way.
I also really like the original Beastly Kingdom idea that was supposed to be part of AK in the first place. Some say that Pandora has taken that part of the theming, but I don't agree. I think a land dedicated to mythical creatures would be great.

Just got home from the hospital. My first treatment went well, took about 21/2 hrs. one down 5 to go.
Glad to hear it went well. Hope the others go well too.

Wonder what that will look like.

Tons of layoffs... Which begs the question, why were they needed before? Answer: because people needed care that they're not getting now.

Not bad!

Hmmm... a whole land based on Zootopia? I don't see it.

That I can see. Who wouldn't want to see a centaur or a unicorn or a griffon (whoops! Straying into Harry Potter area.)

Morning all from a 75 London.
Red Arrows flew over the garden this morning. Then we turned round and 10 seconds later they were doing the Red White and Blue trail over Tower Bridge on the TV.

We are all having a drink on the front drives at 3.

With thanks to all who served, and continue to serve in places of danger, military or otherwise.

Have a great day fellas

Hey, Gents! Not much to report at work that you don't already know about. Once I got home, I checked my email and found an email from the HR manager regarding the interview for today. It says to meet with her in her office for the interview. Here I thought it was going to be just me and the three guys I told you about. Oh well, I'll just be myself and have a chat with them. I'm not worried. If my work to date doesn't impress them, then to h#ll with them. Have a good day, gents!

3 things.
That looks pretty good in your favour. Keep that in mind, relax and you'll do great. :)
"hire up"... typo or pun intended?
Good luck tomorrow!

"hire up" was a typo, though I guess it could be a pun. What I meant to say was, "higher ups." hahahaha
Thanks

Best of luck to you

Thanks, man.

In your interview when they ask you your weakness, tell them kryptonite and Lois Lane. It has worked well for me.

😆

I hope they're allowed to open soon, we need something to look forward to.

That last sentence seems to be where we all ended up.

That's one of the scary parts of this whole thing. I'm sure there's a backlog of serious medical issues.

Good luck buddy. I always look at interviews as an opportunity to find i why I would bless them with my services. I know it sounds arrogant. But I think it changes your mindset slightly. so you are more at ease and it puts them on the back foot.

Morning, folks.

Today should be interesting.
I hit the sack last night around 11pm. Woke up with a bit of an upset tummy at 1:30am (nothing serious, just uncomfortable enough to wake me). Was up from 1:30am - 4:00am. Finally fell asleep until 4:30, then essentially clock-watched until 4:55am. Close enough to 5am and I was getting tired (no pun intended) of waiting for my 5am alarm.

Red Arrows flew over the garden this morning. Then we turned round and 10 seconds later they were doing the Red White and Blue trail over Tower Bridge on the TV.
Cool!
Love those types of demonstrations.
Oh well, I'll just be myself and have a chat with them. I'm not worried. If my work to date doesn't impress them, then to h#ll with them.
:thumbsup2

Yup. I think clinics/hospitals are going to be pretty busy when this is over. If this is ever over.

Morning All,

crappy weather here for the next few day, raining today and maybe snow tomorrow. Not making me want to go out for a run.

My thoughts on the Dinoland area at AK. Keep the dig site play area, Dinosaur and food stuff get rid of the rest. Maybe a new continent or more dino stuff.

Enjoy VE Day Dan.

Continued prayers for you and your team

Yes there are. SWMBO has been directly impacted by the cancellation of "elective" procedures.

Today should be interesting.

Hope your day improves and doesn't end up "interesting".

This will be over at some point and people will have to adapt. I am at higher risk than some, but I refuse to live in fear. It isn't like I am suddenly surprised by the fact that I am mortal. You can't stop the world as they have done and not expect serious consequences.

maybe snow tomorrow.
Ugh! Too late in the season for that nonsense!
-6C/21F here this morning, but a clear one. No chance of any kind of precip.
Hope your day improves and doesn't end up "interesting".
Already tired and not quite two hours in.
You can't stop the world as they have done and not expect serious consequences.
I agree. You can't remove all the sharp corners from the planet either.
minimize risk, yes. But don't stop living life, either.

That's right, because I'm interviewing them as much as they're interviewing me.

Sorry you're not feeling well, but it sounds like it was one of those nights for a lot of us because I got no sleep last night either...except mine was because my DD crawled into bed and kept kicking me.

😁

*Cues the music to Rocky* Thanks, man!
