DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
This is the view from our balcony, so not too shabby.

Wow! Nice!
I had a call from my mother this morning saying that my uncle is no longer in a coma and is able to respond to family and the doctors. He still has a breathing tube in but had developed and infection and pneumonia. Still some encouraging signs.
Good signs... keep us posted.
Nice views!

Hey Dads! We are now into T - 25 days until we leave for Orlando. I need some tips of must-sees must-dos as we gear up to go. I will make a new post/thread. Help me fellow Dis Dads, you're my only hope....

I'll take a look at the new thread and see if I can add anything.

Afternoon Gents! A bit scary today as there was a reported guy in tactical vest and carrying a rifle on DS campus this morning. He's safe as it was a false alarm, but still scary. Tip of the hat to his school and the local city police. Alert text messages keeping parents and students up to speed. Was watching the local city news online and did not think that many police between campus and City of Chattanooga existed and from news and pics DS took they were heavily armed with automatic weapons not just side arms. DS was smart and headed to a studio classroom with a pass-code door so him and a few others were pretty safe. The reported guy was is in the same general area of campus DS was at so know that my nerves are a bit calmer, back to work.

Wow. Scary situation. Glad it was a false alarm.

Glad all is OK. I think it would be time to crack that bottle you have in your bottom drawer. ;)

Afternoon gents (it’s weird being in the same time zone as y’all)

Chilling in the room as we’ve broke the kids a bit by late finish at MNSSHP and then a 930 Garden Grill reservation. Test track, Soarin and Mission Space this morning as well. Halloween was amazing. The youngest is a bit scared of fireworks so Vampirina and Timon sat with her holding her hand whilst they were on. Only at Disney, right?
Food and Wine tomorrow while the world is at Galaxies Edge, so hopefully it will be us and the 90,000 vloggers doing their Instagram specials.
The country of my birth seems to be trying it’s best to become the laughing stock of the world, so I’m interviewing with Doc tomorrow for that housekeeper role.

Bloody hell mate, that sounds like every parents worst nightmare. I’d follow Darcys advice and crack open the good stuff. Glad it all turned out OK.

Have a magical day fellas

Whelp, looks like I might be getting my first welcome to central FL hurricane soon. From the current track, it shows coming right at Cocoa and Orlando.

Wonder if Disney might actually close the park two years in a row. That would be a record.

Felt like 293F today

Who are we kidding you are just cheap.

::yes::

Scary stuff. That's scary, and a really big false alarm.

You stay safe as well.

How cool is that? Neat experience.

Hey, I think we're still firmly ahead in that race.

Morning Guys.

Wet day here so far, couldn't believe the amount of water on the roads this morning. It was almost like winter driving. We are just on the edge of this tropical storm that is swing by but I think it is headed right at Jeff. You could be getting pretty wet on the Rock Jeff.

No real change in my uncle, hopefully there will be some improvements soon.

Have a great day all!

I'm still an hour ahead of you, anything you need to know.

Pretty cool bit of Disney magic, that was awesome. Enjoy F & W, that is still on my bucket list.

Stay safe Doc.

Got to meet up with Dan and his son today from breakfast. Other than travel complications...you have to take a bus back to the restaurant, so we(well I) was late, it's a good breakfast buffet...plenty of crispy (correct) bacon

If you ever have the opportunity to meet up with Dan, I highly recommend it. Great guy!

For some reason, not wanting to let me upload photo...will try separate post.

Hope you got all your french toast supplies by now!
Wife has french toast supplies. I'm back on keto (after being not for too long) and I have plenty of bacon and steak. Yay!

No real change in my uncle, hopefully there will be some improvements soon.
Sorry Darcy...continued prayers and hoping soon.

I'm still an hour ahead of you, anything you need to know.
Winning lottery numbers?

Stay safe Doc.
We have boards for each window and have a solid door, plenty of water, generator, batteries, food, so I think we're good. Debating about going out and getting another couple gas cans so we have more fuel for the generator just in case, but if push comes to shove, we siphon from the car.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Thanks for the well wishes with DS campus situation yesterday. Talked to him last night and he said the first 30 or 45 minutes it was tense and people freaking out a bit but then as it went on and there was no reports of or sounds of shooting things calmed down. Doc, Dan and anyone else in the path of this now forecasted Cat4 hurricane be safe. It even looks like our extended weekend on the islands off Alabama in the gulf could be impacted. How would you liked to have planned for opening weekend of GE and now have this hurricane heading right for you :sad1: Speaking of GE,crazy crowds but by most reports Disney handled it masterfully and this new boarding feature on MDE is working great for this. We head out for the long weekend tonight so if I ain't around everyone have a great weekend and those south of the border here enjoy the 3 day break.
Glad all is OK. I think it would be time to crack that bottle you have in your bottom drawer. ;)
Had a couple when I got home last night - thanks

Nice bit of Disney Magic there for the young lady. Enjoy your trip and hope the weather does not impact you too much. Me and the Mrs did F&W last year on our first parents only trip and had a blast - enjoy!

Stay safe DOC and looks like they be closing at some point Mon / Tues next week
Hey, I think we're still firmly ahead in that race.
I'm with you on that, we are still way ahead ........................

Obviously photoshopped. Neither of you were there.

This is so completely foreign to me. And... it really shouldn't, power could go out here during a blizzard.
1 2 3 4 5 6 and 7
Dang it! I picked all 8s and 9s!

It's Thursday and I'm ready to chuck it all. Not sure where all the extra stupid people came from, but they really need to leave my city. Maybe head north to Canada.

Hope you got all your french toast supplies by now!

Most people don't like the French. Wait, what were you talking about? :lmao:

Don't inflate 007's ego. He's already full of enough hot air to start a hurricane. Wait a minute..... :lmao:

Make sure you have enough ammunition, ninja sword, and a crossbow. No, that's zombie apocalypse preparations. Sounds like you are ready for the hurricane. Good luck.

Ammunition isn't a problem.
Will a medieval type sword work?
Got nothing on the crossbow...not even a regular bow. Slingshot?

Not sure I'd want to shoot an arrow at the hurricane...could be death by stupidity.

Short work week! Going to Hershey, Pa on Friday to see Barenaked Ladies/Hootie and the Blowfish concert. Saturday - Hershey Chocolate World and Troegs Brewery tour. Sunday maybe Gettysburg. Gonna be a birthday weekend blast!!

Around 2001 I was in Hampton, NH, visiting close friends and we were at a bar for an open mic night. Darius Rucker was traveling through and his tour bus stopped at the bar so they could eat. He came in, saw the open mic, and proceeded to play a free 45 minute acoustic show. Amazing voice and just an incredible thing for him to do.

As for BNL, I’d love to see them play. I’d put them as third best Canadian band. I think Bryan Adams and Blue Rodeo take the first two spots. Rush just isn’t my cup of tea.

Have a great time at the show!
