DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Morning boys from a sunny Anna Maria. Hopefully you guys are back at work, freeing up all the good parking spots near the restaurants.

Morning Gents.

DS officially began his university career this morning, taking part in the his faculties orientation. Seems like just yesterday we were sending him off to kindergarten.
All the best to young Dec there. Maybe they can teach him how to pick a decent football team ;). I remember my first day at college. Scary but exciting......

Quite a milestone for sure. Like Dan, I was equals parts scared and excited. I can still remember the very first class. I don't remember much else unfortunately.
Good luck to Declan on his university career.

My DD is gone back today for her 2nd year in university. Crazy how fast time flies.

My Frosh week was a week long event that involved copious amounts of drinking. Doesn't seem to be that way anymore for some reason. lol

Those were the days.... In fall of 95 I was a 1st year at the University of Western Ontario (now called "Western University"). It was a week full of much fun.

Big milestone for Declan. Congrats. And, for Terra Nova Guy's DD! 2nd year means she successfully navigated through yr 1! No small feat to be sure!

Ours were off this morning to Day 1 of Grade 5 and Grade 2.

And it's carp day. Back to work finds more work projects. I go absolutely as slow as possible, prepare one draft only, and submit it on the day of the deadline. Yet, I still get things assigned. Ugh.

And to make matters worse, I am no longer healthy despite my obesity. The doc said blood numbers are out of whack. So, I'm joining doc in keto world. Corona makes a 2.6 carb beer. I just bought in home from the store and it's chilling. Ugh.

And, for anyone who missed it on FB, DW and I celebrated our 19th anniversary. She yelled at me for selecting "like" on her FB post instead of using a heart. Ugh.

Which do you think I should get? Came across these in Old Quebec this weekend and I figure I should be able to get a good deal given they are used and all.

I like the blue one. It would be a great anniversary present.

Morning Gents.

Congratulations. Is he out of the house? Or, still living at home? My time travel is the opposite. It seems like mine has been in HS for 37,000 years - give or take.

So was mine buddy, except it seemed to last 3 years. And it certainly ain’t like that no more....

And you stopped drinking. I guess that's why you're so healthy. Turns out a 30 year diet of pizza and beer is unhealthy. Who knew.

Sorry to hear that buddy. But on a slightly more optimistic note, Bourbon is keto friendly.

Well, I have some bad news of my own...
Was almost completely done buttoning up my house for the hurricane. Last board, 3 screws...I had already drilled them and just needed to put them in.
Fell off the ladder and fell on top of it. Cracked 4 ribs.
Was in the hospital overnight and came home yesterday.
Quite sore and moving very slow, but thankful also...it could have been much worse.

Yikes! Speedy Recovery!

Evening Guys, just wanted to give a quick update on my uncle. His breathing tube was removed and he is breathing on his own. Still don't know what happened because he is still feeling pretty good because of the pain killers. My uncle is 67 and he asked his girlfriend to get my mother's permission for them to get married. :)

Sorry to hear that. I was interested in Keto but I like beer to much.

Happy anniversary

I like the blue one. It would be a great anniversary present.

It starts at a meaasly $350,000 Canadian or for you 263,000 US. It is the cheaper option.

Staying at home, cheaper that way.

Glad they let you come home Doc, take care.

Hey guys, youngest DD started her first day of Grade 7 this morning. Junior High...oh how I hated thee when older DD went through. Not to be a downer, but I found it's the worst few years. By the time you're in high school, you're pretty much on "that path" be it good or bad. The trick is trying to keep them on the better path.

And, for anyone who missed it on FB, DW and I celebrated our 19th anniversary. She yelled at me for selecting "like" on her FB post instead of using a heart. Ugh.
Sounds like a perfectly normal marriage to me. I think I've had a similar incident.

Sorry to hear. It's tough. My waistline just keeps getting bigger. I know it's too many calories and too little (i.e. no) exercise. But it's so hard to turn it around. I've been trying to cut down on carbs a little, but not making much progress.

Really sorry that happened Doc, but glad that it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Looking at the weather reports, it seems like the hurricane is moving away from Florida so that's good at least. Hopefully minimal impact.

Good that he's doing better.

Well, it was a good run. We're proud of you.

I mean, it could have been the "crying" emoji. Sheesh.

Fell off the ladder and fell on top of it. Cracked 4 ribs.

Yikes. Sorry, Doc! Hope you heal quickly.

Great news!

My problem is that I like food that tastes good.

Morning boys from our last full day in the States for this time.

Doc, let us know when you are feeling better my friend and we can start to rip into you for falling off a ladder. I’ve got about 5 Clark W Griswold memes in the chamber and a very itchy trigger finger.....

With you on the beer thing, buddy.
Good news and a lovely story with your Uncle.

My problem is that I like food that tastes good.
If the good Lord had wanted us to eat broccoli, he would have made it taste like cheeseburgers.

On that philosophical note, have a splendid day boys.
