DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning from Texas dads. Had birthday dinner with my girls last night now I remember why we don't go out. $200 at our local Japanese steak house. But it was a good time, and I barely get to see them anymore with me working 3 jobs so it was worth it.

Then, we had one whole thread deleted along the way for some drunk posting of photos.
The thread that shall not be named.

Morning All,

I see everyone has made it to Friday, great work everyone. DW was complaining this morning as today was her last day to "sleep in" as teachers here head back to work on Monday. I wish I could say I felt sorry for her. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day, I'm sure Dan will be along to call it anytime now.

That type of wisdom will change your life.

Truer words were never spoken.

Hello Dads, I hope you’re all doing well, though I haven’t gone back to read the posts I’ve missed the past week. Storming the castle has been taking up most of my time. But that’s a good complaint to have!
It’s been a good trip so far, the weather has mostly cooperated with only two rainy afternoons, but that’s Florida in summer. The heat has been knocking us out pretty good though and we’ve taken breaks back to the resort most afternoons. Speaking of the resort, I’m happy with ASMu overall. I do miss the double sinks from the moderates and the food court options are more limited.
Off to Mickey’s Halloween party tonight! Here’s a couple pictures for you - I may end up doing a trip report eventually.

Love the pictures Jeff!

I'm pretty sure this is correct, but just clarifying. Your birthday and you paid. You have to work 3 jobs just to pay your own birthday. ;)
If it was indeed your birthday, happy belated birthday!

The thread that shall not be named.
I've heard mention of this. I've been on the DIS since 2008, although didn't do much. Only found out about this board last year (or maybe 2016). Sad, because it would've been cool to see some of this history y'all speak about as well as read some of the TRs while they were happening vs. several years later.

I've been around since 2004 and poked my head into the original DisDads thread but never joined until years later. I'm sorry I missed all the early shenanigans.

Love your costume, that’s right scary. How come your DD isn’t dressed up?

We all know Dad always pays.

It was pretty much the same as now till the string of drunk post that got a couple guys banned and the board shut down. I remember we had a moderator who was watching us for a while, wonder if they are still there..............
I wasn't actually on that board but started following along shortly after. Trying to remember when I actually joined and got my number, I think it was right before my 2013 trip.

'Morning all...
I get through this day, and then I get to start packing for a week on the coast.
It ain't Disney, but it dang well ain't a bad thing
(and anywhere beats being at work)

My goal was to be down 100 lbs by then.

I just got to 93 lbs a few days ago.
Don't think you should be too disappointed about the goal.
Down 93, is a herculean task in anyone's book.
I'm certainly impressed.

I haven’t gone back to read the posts
Norm tells us that it would be life changing...
Might want to reconsider.

Off to Mickey’s Halloween party tonight!
Glad y'all are having a great time at Da' World.
Enjoy the party and thanks for the pictures.

And then someone feel off there bass boat and we laaaaughed and laaaaaughed. Lol
And never ever let it go... ;)

I'll name it (I ain't afraid of no Mod...)

DDC XIII - "DIS Dads Evil Incorporated"

Thanksgiving, 2011...

We were up in NYC as part of the expedition for my DS's High school band to be part of the Macy's Parade.
(and quite the trip that was)

We get back home and the whole bloody thread had just up and vanished like...
<<insert quote from Shawshank Redemption here>>

Took a little bit of digging to figure out what had gone down. In truth, it was in instance of too much sophomoric innuendo and PG-13 image posting running head long into what may well have been a spate of - shall we say - over zealous moderation. Thus the implied meaning of the term "Family Board" has since carried a smidgen more than a little bit of sarcasm when used 'round here.

I remember we had a moderator who was watching us for a while, wonder if they are still there..............
Could be, but there are most certainly other forums on this site that need considerably more "moderation".

You joined somewhere between January and mid February 2013 in thread...
DDC XXVI - "They all went to the DDCC and all we got was this Lousy Thread!"

And we're still glad to have you here, sir.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Welcome to Friday. Laid back weekend planned with some work around the house and hitting our main local comic book & collectible store this weekend as Disney animators Tom Bancroft and John Pomeroy will be there autographing and selling swag so me and DW are gonna go check it out. Hope all have a good weekend and make sure to enjoy the family.

Dan - you can call it at any time as I need a good laugh today.

Looks like everyone is having a good time, I know you were really looking forward to it - enjoy! Let us know how MNSSHP is as me and DW will be attending our first one of these in a few weeks.

Dave! Good to see ya over here.

Happy belated birthday! Glad you got to squeeze in time with your girls. 3 jobs has gotta to be tough, your a good Dad there sir doing that.

Somebody is gonna have to tell me one day about "the thread that shall not be named" as I got here right after that happened.

Whew! End of the first full week of school for our 3rd grader and 1st grader (and for the grown-up students here at the U), really looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend at home to recuperate. I just bought one of those Super Nintendo classic mini consoles, and so I'm excited to introduce the girls to some old-school Mario Kart.

Yes but what kind of change is still up in the air..

TRUTH!

I'm not at all disappointed about the 93 at all and I get you're saying don't be disappointed about the goal. While I see your point, I'm also a bit frustrated I guess...I lost 59 lbs between Nov and Feb (before our Disney trip)...I was pumped! Started the new job in March and I think I was down 70 or so at that point. Since thine I've lost much more slowly. I'm just wanting to get to 100 before our trip so I can totally not worry at all about what I eat and just enjoy. While it might be possible to maintain keto at da world, I want to be able to not think about it during that time and have plans side tracked trying to find something appropriate.

Thanks BTW.

Norm tells us that it would be life changing...
Might want to reconsider.
I'm not sure we want to trust Norm. Life changing could have MANY MANY different connotations.

Interesting history. Agreed, there are some threads I'm just stumbled across (not really looking) and I just did a snagglepuss (exit stage left even).

Met your kids...can't argue....LOL.

Though your son seemed cool enough at TPC. Scored the autographs he wanted.

That was a lot of fun, going to that tournament. We're going to one near Philly in a couple of weeks.

Once I got to 83 lbs, it was about 4 weeks before I lost any more.
Once I got to 87 lbs, it was about 6 weeks before I lost any more.
Once I got to 90 lbs, it was about 4 weeks before I lost any more.
I just got to 93 lbs a few days ago.

I don't think you should be disappointed; 93 lbs is quite an accomplishment!

You really should go back and read every word. That type of wisdom will change your life.

I hear ya. My daughter got her first job this summer and whined about not being able to goof off all summer. Apparently "welcome to my world" is not seen as a loving, sympathetic response. :rotfl:

'Morning all...
I get through this day, and then I get to start packing for a week on the coast.

Have fun storming the beach!

Afternoon chaps from a sunny London. Spent all day doing jobs I've put off since my leg bust. I've now found a drip leak from the boys shower, and its obviously dripping on the ceiling stud, as I have a perfect rectangle of water stain. Joy.

Somebody is gonna have to tell me one day about "the thread that shall not be named" as I got here right after that happened.
I thought it was a unnamed Podcast host putting up some moody pictures on Thanksgiving, and getting slung out. As I say, I'm the newbie so I could be completely offside.
No way!!! Charleston...actually a suburb is where I grew up. I'm from the town across the big bridge, Mount Pleasant, SC.

Parents still live there and I visit often!
I think we went through Mount pleasant to get to one of the islands from Charleston. Does that sound right? The Lady K was always obsessed with Savannah, but then she fell in love with Charleston. I think either there or Anna Maria Island is where we will end up once we cash out of London.
My goal was to be down 100 lbs by then.
Fair play for getting that far though mate. It seems like it works for you. I bet you would have taken 93lbs by now before you started?
Storming the castle has been taking up most of my time. But that’s a good complaint to have!
Totally unacceptable. Get on the screen now and start reading.
Nice photos bud, enjoy the rest of the stay.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. We are in the Bellevue for a cheeky follow up toast to CJ with Old fashioneds. Last one standing gets to take Mrs Incredible home. Last time we went at it, because of her superpowers, she asked me how flexible I was. I told her I couldn't do next Tuesday.

Have a great evening chaps.
