DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Just found out that DS has a game tonight against a team from Newfoundland. So if you are keeping count that means he will have a minimum of 8 games between today and Sunday to finish off this season. I'm guessing he will sleep all next week.
That's a busy schedule. But it keeps him occupied during the summer at least. How did the game against Newfoundland go?

I still don't know what the final tally is.
I was told between $2,500 - $3,000.

That pup better start pooping out diamonds.
At that price, I think I might start pooping out diamonds. They are made from carbon and intense pressure, so you never know...

Do you play? I played in grade school and high school to 16, when I had to stop playing to work. I wish I hadn't stopped playing. I wasn't good enough to go pro, but maybe enough for a partial college scholarship and get my certification to teach. It would be a far better career option to be teaching in Florida than sitting here right now.
No, I don't play. I did try it back when I was a teenager (a friend played and he got me into watching tennis). But unfortunately on a scale from 1 to 10 my athletic ability is somewhere near 0.

morning all.
At work all night so don't know how the pup slept through the night.

Did ya' ever have one of those string of days where one thing after another starts breaking down and costing you money you really didn't want to be spending just now?

::yes:: At least 4-5 times a year.

What happens if they go into overtime?:faint:

Yup, need to replace the windshield in DW Jeep after it was hit by a rock on our way to Halifax last Friday. Crack spread from about 3 inches to 15 inches pretty quick.

Admit it, you kinda want to smash it to see what happens, don't you?

Why yes.
On Monday, the vet assistant calls to tell us they need a deposit before surgery.
$1,800.

For the deposit.

Are you feeding her coal? Garbage in, garbage out, you know.

Having one of those weeks - not me - but the family, which effects me. I might elaborate more later. Prayers would be appreciated.

Sure thing!

Happy Wednesday. Not a happy hump day for me as I'm out of town this week. It's a low energy morning with more rain on the way. The hotel provides breakfast, and I'm swimming in biscuits n gravy. :lmao:

Daisy_Dukes.jpg

Really, the only reason to watch that show.

I think we wanted a rear view picture. :lmao:

No, I don't play. I did try it back when I was a teenager (a friend played and he got me into watching tennis). But unfortunately on a scale from 1 to 10 my athletic ability is somewhere near 0.

It helps to be athletic to play tennis, but it is one of the few sports where technique can have dramatic effects on performance over just raw athletic talent.

Since my youngest has started playing, DW decided to learn. She is not very athletic and tries to hit the tennis ball like she did a softball. She does a beginner's drill, and has me hit her tennis balls so she won't be the worst in the group. She will hit the ball over the fence, I heckle her, and she threatens to spank me with the tennis racquet. That is our fun Friday night summer plans. :lmao:

Top O the Mornin Dads! As the ticker reads, only 3 days to go until cruise.
Happy Tuesday. It is another rainy day here, and got quite wet after lunch. Time is dragging on. Oldest dd made state swim cuts for relay team only. Youngest dd has first tennis tournament this weekend. Busy. Busy. Busy.
Congrats to oldest and best of luck to youngest.

Unfortunately.

I'm putting in a request for everyone to win lotteries instead?

Was a pretty big evening for me tonight.
Took the dog out for her first poop since coming home.
Lottery thing sounds like a plan and good to hear the puppy is back home and up and about. Sorry about the lack of diamonds though.

Good Morning Guys. Think I'm taking tomorrow off as a "sanity" day. Crazy busy here with year end, but not on the sales front. Getting a little nervous that the election year combined with Brexit, China and everything else has people on edge and not spending. Let's hope the check books come out soon.

DD had a really strong performance last night and won her hoop game. I'm hitching my hopes of a comfortable retirement on her.:rolleyes1 DS team got blown out, it was not pretty. Our tallest player is around 6 feet and the other team had several players over 6'4" and a point guard that was incredibly good. Proud of them both.

DS starts a new summer job today stacking fire wood. All this manual labor should help him decide to head for a career where a desk is included.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We have full glass coverage, no deductible under state law here in good old MA. Good luck, hopefully to expensive.

Have 2 cats. One was really not looking good for about 2 weeks so we brought her in to the vet.:sick: $500 later:eek: we were told it was because we had workers in the house and she was not happy. Nothing wrong, all test negative including the required blood tests. So basically have another dramatic female in the house costing me $$.:mad: Perked up and back to normal 3-4 days after the work completed.

Good luck with the surgery. A diamond pooping pup would be priceless for breeding.:thumbsup2

Sheese...
I was rather hopping that not so many of ya' were having the same issues at the same time.
And most of them worse off that mine.

I think we could all use one of Ponzi's diamond pooping dogs right about now.

Yup, always seems there is someplace the $$ is needed. Hope you and all the guys can get through it and things improve quickly.

Guess I am also in on it. Won't go into the details but I haven't been on the last few days to deal with crap sandwich after crap sandwich. Not enjoying 2016 so far.

I guess we all need to just keep swimming.

I stopped eating the crap sandwiches. They were killing my waist line.:lmao::lmao: Sorry to hear, especially with those college payments coming due soon. Sending some pixie dust and good thought. Of course for completely selfish reasons as I need that credit card in January.:scratchin

Please send our congrats and best wishes along to the girls. Good luck!

Roofer called, now just need to come up with the money. Could be worse though. I'm still on the green side of the sod and the family is mostly healthy so doing better than I deserve.

We ended up with a new roof last year after one of the worst winters plagued with snowfall every other day, ice dams and an eventually rain storm in our foyer when everything was melting. Luckily we got enough from the insurance company to repair everything inside, put on a new roof and fix the roof area so it should not happen again. Hope it's not too expensive and the lottery is good to you. Just make sure when you win it was my good wishes that helped you win.

So has anyone ever done the Putt Putt courses? My wife is thinking about going to one of them this trip.

It looks like one is at Blizzard Beach, so we could just take the bus there from the resort, Of course not sure the hours work for when the buses run and when Putt Putt is open.

The other Putt Putt course is behind Dolphin, correct?

So I am guessing that we are in a situation where the Disney transportation will not really give us the best way to get to and from these places. Should I just plan on using Uber? There are 5 of us, 3 kids and 2 adults so not sure what the Uber requirements are....

Any thoughts, and are the putt putt courses worth it? We have the 4 free tickets, so the cost is affordable assuming we can get there easily(Cheaply as well).

Only 4-5 times? Seems we are getting the occasionally expected bills a lot more than occasionally. :sad2::sad2:

That sounds about right for my tennis game. I hit a home run every 3rd or 4th shot. The kids won't even let me play anymore. I have moved on to golf where I can hit is as far as I want and the concept of in play or out of play is pretty obvious.

I have hit a ball out of a water hazard once so I have that going for me.:goodvibes

Top O the Mornin Dads! As the ticker reads, only 3 days to go until cruise.

In case I am not on in the next 3 days. Anchors Away! Have a great trip.

Winter Summerland is at BB. Shorter, but fun. It is usually busier than Fanatasia Gardens. FG has two course. The first is a normal sized course. The second is like a par 3 golf course. The holes are long and it takes a good amount of time to complete. My kids like the longer course, but it is not themed and really difficult for young kids. Typically it is not busy though.

As far a buses, FG is across the road from the Dolphin. You can take the bus to Yacht Club and walk from there. It's a pretty short walk past the Dolphin and across the street. We stayed at the YC last August and the kids went over several times to play. We always include the mini putt in our plans as it's a way to relax and have a little slower paced fun in the middle of the craziness.

We did the one behind Swolphin, I think it's Fantasia, many years ago. One side has a mini golf course (sand traps, water hazard) and the other one we did had Mickey characters and more traditional mini golf. The theming on it is amazing. We had fun, although skip going at the hottest time like we did. I forget price, but is was costly $20 each? We did get a souvenir golf ball with Grumpy on it.

As for transportation to that one, just use Disney transportation over to Boardwalk (go to theme park and bus over from there), walk through Boardwalk, and either take a boat or just walk over to Swolphin and then walk to it from there.

We did enjoy it and it was a nice day off from theme park.

That's a busy schedule. But it keeps him occupied during the summer at least. How did the game against Newfoundland go?

They lost by 6 which isn't bad when you consider they are a U16 team that is half 16 and half 15 while the NL team was a U17 team. I think one of the games today is against your U16 team.

What happens if they go into overtime?:faint:

Admit it, you kinda want to smash it to see what happens, don't you?

I think they use the NBA Summer League and go to sudden-death, first basket wins. :rotfl2:

Never thought about smashing the windshield; that would have been fun.

$250 deductible for us.

Congrats to the kids and I'm sure that your DS will quickly learn the value of a desk job. :rotfl2:

All the best Norm from this side of the pond. Good luck to the young 'uns.

Moist is an option in KY where only a town, winery, golf course, etc get a license but not on the ballot here. Probably because we only have one town of 2200 people, no winery, and the golf course doesn't even have a kitchen.

How did the vote go?
That is our fun Friday night summer plans. :lmao:

I remember trying to teach DW tennis. It did NOT go well. Lets just say there wasn't a lot of doubles play in the following week.

Getting a little nervous that the election year combined with Brexit...

It wasn't me...hope biz picks up mm

Sure thing!

Congrats to oldest and best of luck to youngest.

Hope it's all working out Norm.

Hope things work out. Thoughts and prayers.

Thanks guys for the thoughts and prayers. Things seem to be working out ok. It stinks being out of town and not being able to handle things.

How did the vote go?
Wet 2323, Dry 1717 for a total of 4040 and a difference of 606 which happens to be the phone area code here. I'm sure the conspiracy folks will be all over numbers like those. It was a good turnout relatively speaking for a special election that had one question. The 18-24 crowd came out and voted wet which is interesting since half of those arent of legal age to purchase alcohol which is a whole different issue. The county has only been dry legally but not functionally. The locals here that are older than I am talk about being able to buy alcohol in town since they were teens. This will just really hurt the business for the county line liquor stores in the surrounding counties and the bootleggers will be limited to selling to underage kids. The state will take most of the taxes and fees and it won't impact economic development significantly.

Thanks guys for the thoughts and prayers. Things seem to be working out ok. It stinks being out of town and not being able to handle things.
That is good news. Continued prayers.

Looking for some advice. DW noticed a wasp nest just underneath the eave of our house (2 story). The obvious thing is to buy the spray and kill the buggers. I took care of one years ago but it was down on the patio at ground level. I can't reach this one without getting on the ladder, which makes me nervous if they swarm when I spray the nest. I suppose I could professionals (hmmm...what's that we've been talking about? more $$). Just curious if any of you dads have had a similar situation.

So basically have another dramatic female in the house costing me $$.:mad:
Good grief, another one? I've got three and that's pretty much "critical mass".

Well, I guess those Pokemon are safe then.:rolleyes1
Oh yes, Pokemon are very safe around me. I suppose most of the teens are getting into this now (not just teens I guess). My DD16 just started playing it (despite the fact it's not been released in Canada yet, but they all figure out a way around it, so I wonder what's the point of not releasing everywhere). I'm not sure what to think of the game. It gets her out of the house, but they're like blind cattle stumbling around town with their phones.

Thanks guys for the thoughts and prayers. Things seem to be working out ok. It stinks being out of town and not being able to handle things.
Continued good thoughts that the situation gets better. I know how tough it is to be out of town when things are not going well at home. Hang in there.
