DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Half day for me so DW and I can celebrate our 21st anniversary watching DS play some basketball.

Morning all.
Beautiful morning here. Have to take the dog to the vet this am to take her fentanyl patch off. Then I'm hoping to get some work done on the deck before I leave for work at 2pm. If I'm smart, I'll knock off a little early and take a dip in the pool first.
I'm seldom smart.

Happy Saturday morning. Played tennis this AM for 2 hours and then came home to cut the grass. Probably not the smartest thing to do back to back, but I survived. I'm re-watered and fooded up in case you are worried. :lmao:

Fentanyl patch for the dog? Wow, that's more powerful drug than morphine. Down here, there are lots of reports of drug addicts squeezing out the fentanyl from the patches and injecting it.

I did the exact same! Except I watched Netflix as opposed to charging a net. But, you know... almost the same thing.

:rolleyes1

Yeah, fentanyl's powerful/scary stuff.
And... I'm worried.
She got loose last night and ran around the yard.... she's not supposed to do anything but stand to go to the bathroom.
Was she running because the patch deadened the pain so much? Or is she okay?
The patch came off this morning. She seems okay.... those pins and wire must be pretty strong.

Shouldn't that be aye-yi-yi?

Foggy morning here. But rain not forecast til later.... so...
Finally get to take the bike out!

Forgot that fog is basically rain that's not moving.
Got to work.... wet.

Oh, well. Still fun to get out on two wheels again.
It'll probably be raining heavily by the time I leave.

In doggy news, she seemed pretty happy this morning.
Hopefully that means no new damage to the leg.

Happy Sunday morning. Youngest dd dominated in her first ever tournament match yesterday, winning 4-1, 4-1. I knew she could do it, but wasn't sure if she could handle the additional pressure. She was nervous before it started and lost the first game (on her serve), but then would the next 5 or 6 games. She outplayed her opponent, and hit several winners. Despite that, this will be her only match as the the douche bag running the team over booked the number of players on the team, and since we aren't the wealthy right side of the tracks parents, she won't get to play anymore this tournament.

Hope everything is ok with the dog. Surely, the vet would figure out that the dog would run in the backyard or not have discharged the dog back home.

Ugh. Been there.
When DD was dancing, it seemed that everyone but her was getting solos, duos, trios and small groups. We were originally told that it was by selection. Okay. We can live with that. Then found out it was by selection... by insistent, overbearing parents. Bite me.

Well, we did have instructions to only let her walk a little for potty. But she wasn't supposed to slip off the leash!
Seems okay, though. We'll find out for sure after follow up x-rays in a few weeks.

Great news! Sounds like she is doing well with it. Hopefully she can get more experience later on. Like @pkondz I have some experience with questionable selections when DDs do their dance recitals. It's always interesting to see who gets picked for the solos and who gets to be in the front row. We changed dance schools last year because that stuff got so bad at the other. Not that I expect my girls to be front and centre all the time, but at least share it around a little.

Today was Championship match and youngest dd is KY State Team Tennis Championship 12U!!! Another dominating performance at 4-0, 4-0. Sectionals will be in Georgia if we choose to go.

Thanks guys. We went thru that crap with dance as well, and chose different sports as a result. With swim, it is easy. Who is the fastest across the pool. With tennis, it is a little more subjective, but at 12U, not really. She didn't play one of the matches last night, which means 8 other players were allegedly better. Being a player, it's easy for me to see. At 12U, most players still hit the big lob flop on the serve because they just don't have the skill yet. I've taught my dd a flat serve (straight, fast, no lob), and she can hit it around the 60% clip. She has amazing ground strokes, and just overpowered opponents. Her teammates, those other 8 players, simply don't have that ability. She has defeated them multiple times in singles and doubles in practice vs matches. So, it isn't a talent issue or me being an unrealistic parent, it's just that the "coach" wanted to play his wealthy friends' kids over her. Obviously, the team won so he wasn't that bad of a coach. But, I don't like my kid not playing when she has the ability, especially if I have to travel 8 hours and incur overnight lodging costs.

Morning Guys, hope you all had a great weekend.

Another basketball season has come to an end and it finished on a high. DS and his team went 2-1 in their pool to finish first in their pool and setup a championship game against the team that my nephew plays for; the same team that beat them at the tournament last weekend. It was an exciting game all the way through and the good guys came out on top, hitting a 3 pointer to win with 6 seconds left. DS played great throughout the game and was put back out for the last 3 minutes of the game to help finish things off. The boys were ecstatic to win this game as the other coaches and many of the players gave these guys no respect. I do feel bad for my nephew though. He didn't get much playing time with this team and in some games (like yesterday) he never played at all. Every player from DS's team played in the first half.

Have a great Monday all.

Hope it all works with the coach. I hate coaches who are not about development at that age.

That sounds incredibly frustrating. At the very least, it sounds like your daughter is taking care of herself when it comes to what she controls. Congrats to her!

Sounds very similar to trying to trying to keep my 2-year-old under control.

Pretty exciting! Love it when it comes down to the wire like that. Even more so, when the right team wins.

:sad2: Geez. Let the kids play for Pete's sake.
"Hey, what's that trophy for?"
"It's from when we won the championship."
"How come it's in a box and not on a shelf?"
"Because I didn't even get to play in the game."

Sounds very similar to trying to trying to keep my 2-year-old under control.

Pretty much.
Does your 2 year old lick your face?

Good Monday Morning Guys! I hope all are well. Prayers and pixie dust for those in need. Congrats to all celebrating.

Nothing significant to report so carry on.

Sometimes. More often, he likes to eat something messy, like chocolate, and then rub his face/hands all over me.

Happy Monday. In the office this week. Replied to all my emails and I'm done with work for the day already. :sad2:

Congrats to DS. You can now congratulate the nephew in the win from last week. :lmao:

It is sad when kids don't get chance to earn playing time.

That sounds incredibly frustrating. At the very least, it sounds like your daughter is taking care of herself when it comes to what she controls. Congrats to her!

Thanks. She definitely played her best. You keep your 2-year-old child under control?
