DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Monday morning already? It always seems to sneak up on me every week following Sunday.

But, good news this AM. I finally lost the weight I put in October following the vacation week, plantar fasciitis, inactivity recovery, and steroids. I still have many many many pounds to go, and am happy I made that goal.

Congrats on the weight loss and feeling better. In the same position. Training for January has begun. 3 mile walk yesterday with DD. Another 3 (in the rain:headache::sad2::sad2:) planned for today. First 2 weeks walking. Next 2 weeks walking 5 days, running first mile and walking second 2 days and so on. The plan is to be working out every day and running 3 miles 2x a week by October at the latest. Then to keep it up. The things we do for our kids.:D

Congratulations, Norm! That's great work.

Happy Monday all. Supposed to be my first day off, but.....
So I'm at work and....

Had to spend today and the next few days on campus. It was raining today. The college girls forgot their umbrellas. Poor things. EEO said not to offer to hug them to warm them up.:lmao:

Didn't you recognize me?

But the jersey said Vardy on the back. When did you change your name? :lmao:

Thanks, and good luck on the training. I walked a 5K last year, maybe I'll run one. I wouldn't bet on it.

Congratulations, Norm! That's great work.

Thanks. Now, get back to firing non-Eagles fans. Sounds like that promotion really went to your head there, sonny.

:sad::sad1::sad2:

I was out finishing up my yard work, picking up worms for fishing, but just could not get the whole worm-hole time travel thing to work.

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

I first heard that term in Star Trek. Are you a fan? Or, are you a really smart dude who actually knows astronomy? (I would have went with astrology, but I'm afraid Vardy wouldn't have got the joke.) :lmao:

Good thing you had your camera handy! :duck:

Star Trek? :confused3 Never heard of it? Is that a Universal Studios thing?

:lmao:

Astronomy / Astrology - there's a difference? One plays connect the dots to draw figures and the other things the figures talk to you.

Afternoon all.
2 things of note.
Took both dogs out for a walk... and it worked! Older one didn't growl at the puppy. Puppy didn't just sit on her butt waiting to be picked up.
And speaking of puppy. Had her first howl today. Not sure why, but she did. I've decided that she's weird. Should fit right in with the rest of us.

Anyone anxious for this Friday?
capitainamerica05.gif

I am volunteering at my oldest daughters school for the book fair. I am not sure when or how I did this, but the school emailed me and told me when to be there and for how long I needed to be there. So I am guessing one of my kids asked me too and I filled out some form. Man, reminds me of when I joined the service, I signed a bunch of forms and then realized I had signed myself up for indentured servitude for 4 years. But no one wants a 40 year old overweight guy to take care of, I am more work to keep in food and living environments than the work they can extract out of me. Also, a heck of a lot more sarcastic.

Anyway, why is Friday supposed to be something I am anxious for, other than it is Friday?

Got good news from the Pirate Princess. She took the GRE today and got a qualifying score for the grad school she wants. Tough to prep and take the test during finals week. Five more days of work and she is done.

DS's volleyball team won the regional JV volleyball tournament on the weekend and will enter provincials this weekend as a 1 seed. They have yet to lose a match this year so it will be an upset if they don't bring home that banner. Going to be a busy day for him today (and that means me as well) - volleyball practice followed by a basketball practice.

Congrats to Dclan and the team. Impressive!

DD's hoop team was missing 5 players in the state tournament over the weekend so needless to say, did not do too well. We were missing 3 starters and our back up point guard. DD played well, but hard to beat the top teams in the state with half a roster and kids brought up to fill in from a weaker team.

DS pitched a 5 inning shut out on Saturday (slaughter rule). With 8 K's and only 2 hits. Pretty good outing for him.

Guess it is tough to win missing most of your starting lineup. Nice job by your son.

Supposed to rain here all week. April showers are expected.

Saw the Yankees/Sox game over the weekend. Good game but the weather looked like it sucked. We just had a huge storm roll in, flood warning and lots of lightening. Seems to be easing off now.

But, good news this AM. I finally lost the weight I put in October following the vacation week, plantar fasciitis, inactivity recovery, and steroids. I still have many many many pounds to go, and am happy I made that goal.

That's great Norm. Nice milestone.

Good start. I won't be there to cheer you on for the 5K although I might be awake anyway but I will be there in spirit.
 And that's about all that's need for Tuesday....

Hey Don, how is the family?

I am volunteering at my oldest daughters school for the book fair. I am not sure when or how I did this, but the school emailed me and told me when to be there and for how long I needed to be there. So I am guessing one of my kids asked me too and I filled out some form.

Yea, I seemed to get roped into all sorts of stuff when she was in school. Never knew how that happened either.

So I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but I wanna join this cool dudes club.

  19. You have a Disney vanity plate on your auto (ex. MGK KGDM) - D1SN3Y

  22. You can't decide if you want to go on a Disney Cruise, to Walt Disney World, or to Disneyland for your next vacation (if you can afford it the Disney Resorts over seas are in the equation as well).
  23. Your office is like a shrine to Disney and it gets bigger and bigger every year.
  24. You use your kids as an excuse for all the people who ask why you're going back to WDW again. "It's for the kids!" Although the people who know you best know not to believe that.
  25. Simply put...there is no place you would rather go on vacation than at WDW, Disneyland, on a Disney Cruise, or at any of the Disney resorts over seas.

  32. Your Christmas tree has all Disney ornaments on it. - not all but at least 80% are Disney
  33. The cake topper on your wedding cake was Mickey & Minnie.
  34. You have a Mickey telephone (one of those old stand up kind from the 80's, like the large one reproduced at POP) - in my office and it still works
  35. You hooked up the laptop to your TV so that you could watch Youtube videos of WDW.
  36. You have more disney podcasts than music on your iPod.
  37. You have endured or are willing to endure the hazing process to become a DIS Dad's Club Member which involves...... Walking until your legs and feet ache, crowded queues with hundreds of strangers, standing in the hot Florida sun until your skin burns, and finally emptying your wallet of any savings.
  38. More than 50% of your t-shirts are Disney related.
  39. You have Mickey shaped egg forms, ice cube trays, or any other Mickey cookware in your kitchen
Add to the list
1. Father in Law wrote the processional for my wife to walk down the aisle to that included many Disney themes including Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast
2. Always care a Mickey thumb drive (I work in IT so I always have a thumb drive at the ready)
