DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Now, that is an ambitious project; lots of layers and connections. Be sure to show us your progress.
Oh, it won't be that intricate. But it's close to what I want to do.
And who knows? Maybe if I get really good with it...
I've been debating about getting a 3D printer but I'm afraid after tinkering with it for a while, I will run out of ideas and it will become an expensive dust collecter. I guess I could get on the Etsy bandwagon and make things to sell but that sounds too much like work.
This has crossed my mind... but then I said "Heck with it. I want a new toy!"

:lmao:

I'm sure that won't happen soon. Bet it will be at least....

An hour or two.
So far so good... Have tomorrow off too. 50/50 I get called in.
Annnnndddd.... guess who just got called in for the morning shift????

Morning, Fellas! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a nice quiet weekend with lots of snuggles with the DD and family movie night, the Indiana Jones movies, skipping 2. My schedule has me at pediatrics 4 days this week, so looking forward to that. Outside that not much to tell. Have a good day, fellas.

Record it and set it to music.

😆

Same thing going on here.
Except we have to put a little minus sign in front of that 40...

:faint: Nope. That's too cold for me.

Working from home today. Well, at least the laptop is on and the emails are open but there are much more interesting things on TV. I don't have any clue what it is, but anything is more interesting than work.

As long as the little dot is green showing you are online, that's all that matters, right? Oh, and the occasional email gets sent, right?

This afternoon, I go in to my audiologist to pick up my new hearing aid. I have had a severe hearing loss in one ear since I was a toddler and wear a hearing aid to help compensate. Luckily, I have excellent insurance that pays 90% of the cost as they are around $3500 each (not per pair), but they only allow a new aid every 3 years. My current aid has gotten worse at filtering background noise which makes focusing on voices extremely difficult (I can pick out my family, but new voices are harder). There is only so much adjusting that can be done within the limits of the technology from 3 years ago. Suffice to say, I'm excited to be able to hear properly again.

:thumbsup2

After that, I get to sit at the tire store while they fix the flat tire from the other night. This could either be a quick 15 minute fix, or I will be there for 3 hours. With our local tire store, there is no in between.

Sounds like you might miss it. Great for the people retiring, but sucks for everyone else that will need to find a new job

I guess to a point I will, I know I won't miss some of the patients at that office, some of the most entitled people I've met, but I will miss the office. With that office closed, that'll be one less office that'll need floats, so less work. As a fulltime float I'm guaranteed 40 hours, but one less office to float to.

Sounds like a pretty good weekend.
We watched Daylight with Sylvester Stallone... Not the worst premise for a movie... but some of the worst acting I've seen in a long time. And not just from Sly.

Wait... you skipped 2... 2 Indy movies or movie #2 (Temple of Doom)?
:faint: Nope. That's too cold for me.
You'd be fine. Just put on a sweater.

:rolleyes1

Hey guys. Had a nice weekend here. My daughter turned 20 and we went up to Philadelphia and took her to Fogo de Chao for her first Brazilian steakhouse experience. I hadn't been there in at least a decade and can't get my money's worth like I used to, but thankfully the teens picked up my slack in that regard.

mmmm....unlimited steak....

Pretty stoked. My laser cutter came today and I can't wait to get it set up and see what it can do.

Cool! I was going to ask what you planned for it, but I see you answered that already.

I'm hoping something similar to this (off the internet):

You'll have to post your results!

just finished cleaning the driveway for the 2nd time in 24 hours, maybe I'll actually go somewhere this time.

I also ran 6k for fun.

Clearing the driveway sounds more fun. :duck:

Sunny but cold Sunday here. Looking forward to watching some NASCAR racing later today from the track they built inside the LA Coliseum. That should be interesting.

I saw a bit of that race. Kind of interesting as a one-off, but it felt like the cars were all driving in slow motion. I'm not sure it works as a regular venue.

I had a nice quiet weekend with lots of snuggles with the DD and family movie night, the Indiana Jones movies, skipping 2.

I'm guessing you skipped Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull.

My daughter turned 20
Saw that. And happy birthday to her (again.) :)

Yeah... I went once with my sister and DDs... The restaurant made their profit margin easily that night.
but thankfully the teens picked up my slack in that regard.

Right now trying to watch tutorials on using the software... I haven't even plugged the thing in yet.
(But I did put it together.)

Will do.
But I suspect it will be baby steps to start.
Clearing the driveway sounds more fun. :duck:

Morning Gents.

Not a good start to the week here. DS tested positive this morning, just as he was set to return to in-person classes. That means 5 days of isolation for all of us. Good times!

Hope you all have a good day.

Definitely has to be a one off, too expensive otherwise. It was like watching a race at the local track so that was cool.

Key to getting your money's worth is don't get all the other stuff first. They WANT you to fill up before they start bringing the good stuff. Ahhh...meat sweats...what a glorious thing.

Said already on GM, but sorry for Declan and y'all.

Morning, Fellas! Monday went quite well, surprisingly, I am, however, keeping my eye on Tuesday. Otherwise all is well. Have a good day, fellas.

Sounds like a pretty good weekend.
We watched Daylight with Sylvester Stallone... Not the worst premise for a movie... but some of the worst acting I've seen in a long time. And not just from Sly.

I somehow missed that movie and never heard of it. Sounds I didn't miss anything.

Wait... you skipped 2... 2 Indy movies or movie #2 (Temple of Doom)?

We watched 1 and 3, didn't like 2, and the Mrs. wouldn't let my DD watch the 2nd move anyways. We'll catch the 4th movie another weekend.

You'd be fine. Just put on a sweater.

:rolleyes1

Sure....I'll put on a sweater. How about 2?

Well Happy Belated Birthday to your DD! :cheer2: :bday:

I'm guessing you skipped Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull.

We did. As I said above, we don't like 2, and the Mrs. wouldn't let the DD watch it anyways, don't think the DD would like it anyways. We'll watch Crystal Skull at some point.

Dude, sorry to hear that. Hope he feels better soon.

Morning, gents.
Dentist this morning. Lost either a filling or a crown. Joy.
I somehow missed that movie and never heard of it. Sounds I didn't miss anything.
It's from 1996. Must be a new release on Netflix, though. It's trending. Lord knows why.

If you want to put a sweater on your legs, by all means...

Morning Gents.

Day 2 of isolation and it is snowing. Enough that it created a snow day for the schools in the area. Even though DW is off because of the isolation, she still needs to use a sick day and her supply doesn't get paid. Nice setup for the Province.

Hope you all have a good day.

Well, we finally got snow. Did some sledding this weekend. The youngest finally went down the hill by himself for the first time ever on Friday. We stayed in on Saturday because I had a migraine, but went out again Sunday for some more sledding. The result was a trip to the ER for a broken clavicle. His first time down the hill Sunday, he wiped out at the bottom and flipped headfirst over the front of the sled. Reasoning with a 5 year old as to why he needs to wear a sling and keep his arm in a certain position is... fun. :faint:

So what did you think? I recorded it and fast forwarded through to watch all the racing. I do think interesting is an appropriate word. I don't think the racing was necessarily great, but it wasn't horrible either.:confused3 Something different anyway. I just hope that the broken transaxles/powertrain issues aren't going to be a problem with this new car. It could really make the season stink if dependability is a big concern. Also, did you see how Justin Haley's left front corner after he hit the wall? Seemed more like the damage you'd expect to see in an open wheel wreck.

Sounds like an incredible weekend! And I'm sure you're still absolutely miserable and recovering from that gluttony. But I know it was worth it!

Right now trying to watch tutorials on using the software... I haven't even plugged the thing in yet.

Oh, yuck... good luck.

Uh, huh...........
Did some sledding this weekend.
Fun. :)

Good for him!
Um... while it lasted...

Actually, these are tutorial videos on Lightburn's site. (The software to run the laser.)

My first thought when yo said sledding was you were out snowmobiling, that's what it would refer to here. We would say sliding or tobogganing. Good luck with the little guy, hope he's OK.

I did enjoy it but the best one to watch was the 2nd of the last chance qualifiers. It was what I expected to see when you put a top series on a 1/4 mile track. It's not the good old boys out there on a Saturday night but there was a bit of pushing and shoving to make things interesting.

I think Haley's car had that much damage because the inside barriers were the same concrete barriers we see on the highway. There isn't much give in them. I agree with you on the broken transaxle issues, hope that isn't something that happens all the time.

What's up, fellas? So far a good week, though yesterday the phones wouldn't stop ringing. A lot of the calls yesterday were from people who spoke either Portuguese or Spanish, so I just passed those along to someone else, but still, busy with the phones. Otherwise, good day.

Morning, gents.
Dentist this morning. Lost either a filling or a crown. Joy.

Well that sucks. Hope you didn't lose anything else.

It's from 1996. Must be a new release on Netflix, though. It's trending. Lord knows why.

Sounds like I didn't miss anything.

Ah.
You could skip 4 too...

True, but I like it enough to watch it again.

If you want to put a sweater on your legs, by all means...

With it being that cold, that would be wise.

Well, we finally got snow. Did some sledding this weekend. The youngest finally went down the hill by himself for the first time ever on Friday.

That's wonderful! Well....

We stayed in on Saturday because I had a migraine, but went out again Sunday for some more sledding. The result was a trip to the ER for a broken clavicle.

Sorry you had a migraine, those are never fun. And sorry for about your youngest's broken clavicle. Hope that youngster isn't scared for life when it comes to sledding. May the healing happen quickly.

Morning, gents.
I'm really starting to hate these early mornings...
When does retirement start again????

And I'm loving our weather... not.
It went from -30C/-22F to +2C/35F over the course of 2 days... then rained... now it's going back down to -30C/-22F again by Friday...
Had to shovel a skiff of snow (overnight) off the driveway and almost wiped out 3 separate times from the ice covering it.

Good times.

Well that sucks. Hope you didn't lose anything else.
Turns out it was a broken tooth. Fixed now, though.
True, but I like it enough to watch it again.
I just hate the ending. Horrible.

Oh joy. Hope the week passes quickly and without symptoms.

Happy birthday to DD.

Thanks! The kids learned quickly to keep the card on red until they saw the steak being carried around.

Well Happy Belated Birthday to your DD! :cheer2: :bday:

Thank you!

Dentist this morning. Lost either a filling or a crown. Joy.

Ugh.

Day 2 of isolation and it is snowing. Enough that it created a snow day for the schools in the area. Even though DW is off because of the isolation, she still needs to use a sick day and her supply doesn't get paid.

Oh good grief. That's just not right.

Have some kids, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

Sounds like an incredible weekend! And I'm sure you're still absolutely miserable and recovering from that gluttony. But I know it was worth it!

You definitely are paying for that meal the rest of the day...or longer. But yeah, I'd do it again.

True, but I like it enough to watch it again.

I just hate the ending. Horrible.

What he said. Actually, I think Crystal Skull is ok up till about the point where they board the plane to go to South America, and then the movie just goes off the rails from there.
