Hello,
Working from home today. Well, at least the laptop is on and the emails are open but there are much more interesting things on TV. I don't have any clue what it is, but anything is more interesting than work.
This afternoon, I go in to my audiologist to pick up my new hearing aid. I have had a severe hearing loss in one ear since I was a toddler and wear a hearing aid to help compensate. Luckily, I have excellent insurance that pays 90% of the cost as they are around $3500 each (not per pair), but they only allow a new aid every 3 years. My current aid has gotten worse at filtering background noise which makes focusing on voices extremely difficult (I can pick out my family, but new voices are harder). There is only so much adjusting that can be done within the limits of the technology from 3 years ago. Suffice to say, I'm excited to be able to hear properly again.
After that, I get to sit at the tire store while they fix the flat tire from the other night. This could either be a quick 15 minute fix, or I will be there for 3 hours. With our local tire store, there is no in between.
I was surprised how much drivers ed helped. Declan got his at 16 and the price was only about $300. Even when we added a 3rd vehicle for him it only added another 100 or so.
This is the reason we enrolled her in drivers ed. In our town, it is run by the school district and supported by the police and it includes about 40 hours of classroom time (complete with projects, homework, tests, and oral reports), as well as 20 hours of behind the wheel driving and observation. There is a HUUUUGE discount for completing drivers ed. It costs quite a bit, but is well worth it.
