DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
The only thing that can make Monday worse is a Monday at 12 degrees. :sad2:

Oldest went back to school with some swelling. She will call in a few hours to come home, so that will get me another day off work.

I'm on the list to learn how to use my computer for a video meeting. I replied by asking if I could just use my phone, as 2nd graders have figured this out by now. As of now, no internet connection at work, so it's going to be a fun meeting. Stay warm all.

I'm sure I will. And that wasn't the worst part of my week, spent most of Friday and Saturday as a guest of Chez Local Hospital. Had another Afib episode and went to get checked out, they had me stay overnight to do a stress test on my heart. Was no different result than the my 2017 visit, but ended up with a couple of new prescriptions. There's talk of having to do a heart catheterization, but i'm hoping the new meds will help me avoid that.

TL

Prayers for you. My wife got dx with a heart thing and prevention techniques. It wasn't afib though, and didn't require a heart cath.

Now getting home can be a problem. There are 6 of us from the Mission Staff stuck in Ottawa waiting for a part to arrive to fix out plane. We were supposed to leave at 7:15, right now we are scheduled to leave at 11:15.

I read that as Mission Space, and couldn't figure out how you got a flight home directly from Epcot. I really need a vacation.

Morning Gents.

DD turned 19 yesterday so she is now of legal age here. On Saturday night/Sunday morning just after midnight she and a few friends headed downtown to go to a club. I was well asleep by then. I can honestly say I do not miss those late nights on the town one bit, not that I did very much of it. I suppose it's something most all young adults have to get out of their system.
We had a quiet meal out with family and cake back home yesterday. Nothing too exciting, but that's how birthdays are as you get older.

Had a little snow here yesterday too, maybe 5 cm (a couple inches) but nothing to slow anything down. I had to get up a but earlier this morning to clear the driveway. Other than that, a normal Monday.

Last day of freedom, back to FT work tomorrow. However, an hour of my induction is playing with Lego, then I get my IT kit, and then I'm out for lunch for the rest of the day with my Director, so not too taxing a start. Hopefully this work level continues. But somehow I doubt it.
Good luck with the transition back to the working class. It doesn't sound like too stressful of a first day. Hope it goes well.

Sorry to hear your trouble. Wishing you the best.

Thanks Man. The Canada Games is the only multi-sport games for youth in the world. It's a pretty cool event.
I also did not realize this. Looks like you had a good, if cold, couple weeks in Alberta. Too bad the trip home was not smooth.

How about a Monday at -1F and a 16 hour shift after 5 hours of sleep?

 He sees the future. You have to post whether that happened or not.

Happy birthday to Brianna! :bday:

I should have said national games, there is the youth olympics.

Made it home around 2:30 am, just in time for a snow storm but at least it isn't -35 anymore. It did cancel a flight for DW and DS to Toronto. They are headed up to Toronto for a Raptors game tomorrow. They did manage to get a flight tomorrow but it will be tight.

Top O the Mornin Dads! It's the work week before heading to DaWorld so we all know what that's like, just counting down the days now for a bit then it will be counting down in hours. Let's all have a good week gents!

Happy birthday to DD. Funny how they start going out at night after our bedtimes :-)

Glad you made it home. Did the family still recognize you?

Not sure what a heart cath is. Is that like a stent?
Either way, take it easy, dude.

Yeah, they go in with a tube to try to inflate the vein/artery with a balloon, and if that doesn't work they insert the stent.

On the plus side, I didn't have to deliver mail today in -20 windchill. *cue "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"*

Ah. My Dad has that. He was about 80 at the time. Doing great since then. (87 now, almost 88)

Made it thru my computer meeting and am back home catching up on EPL matches I missed. I'm watching the Man United vs Southhampton game, and have the Scottish commentator. Can't understand a word he says, but he sure is excited.

Yes, I can't do those late nights anymore. I enjoy the sun now more. Happy birthday to her.

You win. Or more accurately, you lose.

She is supposed to video something at school tonight, and she knows if she stays home sick from school, then no other events that day. So, she is going to bravely carry on.

Have a great trip. Wish I was going.

Ha! But my co-worker (who just arrived for her evening shift) has it worse. She has a full shift ahead of her while I only have half a shift to go!
(Please disregard that we both have 8 hours ahead of us)

Oh, the poor, poor thing! :charac2:

Sorry to hear that. I had an episode of Afib about a year ago. First time it ever happened, and it hasn't happened again. Still, they put me on meds and diagnosed me with sleep apnea, so now I get to wear a mask at night. Still beats surgical procedures. Anyway, here's hoping they get you under control.

I'm impressed you were able to get some sleep. I'm sure I'd be a bit worried the first time my kids go out.

That's a hard pass, thanks.

Best wishes with that. I ended up having a cath that led to two stents but felt 99% better within 24 hours of having it done. Worst part was the pressure bandage on the wrist where they went in. That hurt. A heart cath is almost a routine procedure anymore (as long as it is someone else going through it.)

How long were you out of action after the procedure?

I was on the table at 8 AM on a Friday, they had found 3 blockages by 9:30, put the stents in and I was in a room by noon. Checked out before lunch Saturday and feeling great by Sunday morning. It is amazing what happens when the heart gets the blood it needs. Back at work Monday AM with no restrictions. I think if they go through the groin it is a little longer but they went through my wrist.

Morning gents.
It's a brand new day out there. Time to get off your butts and start exercising and eating right!

Me? I'm gonna sit in a recliner and see if there's any pie.

Eating right isn't all it is cracked up to be. Genetics will probably get you first. As long as it isn't coconut or pecan, save me a piece of pie.
