DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning All,

Just finished another driveway cleanup and now we are waiting for the rain. Should start the melt just in time to freeze up again overnight. Good times!

I had to put new all season tires on the car in the fall and thought I should be able to get through the winter....wrong! They are not cutting it.

Afternoon all, DW and I found out we are expecting our 3rd child. So i get to look forward to 7 months of morning sickness. We are all on the mend from our illnesses.

Congrats!

Evening gents, I’ve been in Halifax, Nova Scotia all week for business meetings. Full days in the office and then “team” dinners in the evenings, so not much time for sightseeing or extracurricular stuff. Halifax is a great city in the summer but the middle of winter is not the right time of year to walk the Harbour front. On the plus side, I’m eating and drinking too much on the company’s dime.

Could be worse, you could be in PEI.

Top O the Mornin Dads and a Happy Friday eve! The boy is making his way back to the homestead this weekend getting in later this afternoon. Just in time to help with getting all the Christmas stuff put back onto the garage lofts and shelves. Have a good one gents.

I'm not a fan of "team dinners" as I spend enough time with work folks and taking even more time away from family / personal time gets on my nerves. Don't get me wrong, when traveling out of town it is ok to bond a bit and build up some personal relationships. I just hat the we are in all day meetings for two days so we should go out to dinner as group which to me is noise and a waste of money - rather bring in lunch for the team members in the trenches. Sorry about the mini rant there - get off my lawn!
Morning, my Mickey admiring offspring having brethren. -2C in the mother country today. The motor is in for service, so that's 400 I won't see again. I would do it myself, but we lease our cars so its part of the agreement.
Have a great day fellas, wrap up, eat bacon, surf the net. Not possibly in that order, but do them all.
London out.
Sorry about the car expense but doesn't sound too bad.
I'd question the "Hard Work" to get to this stage, Chief. :rolleyes1
But it must be "Hard" to "Work"...
Well done Randall! :rotfl2:

Don't know how you handle the hard winters, I do not miss the Chicago winters at all and those are nothing compared to what you deal with. Stay safe!

And, I made it to Thursday. Tennis last night and won 2-3 sets with steroid and antibiotic cocktail.

Funny thing. Do you all know there are batteries inside your home thermostats? We built our home in 2000, so it has been the same battery. And, do you know what happens when said battery corrodes inside thermostat in cold January with the heat on? That's right, the heat stays on. Woke up at 5 AM with the house at 83 degrees. :scared1::eek::scared1:
Thermostat set at 68. :furious:

Now you know, and knowing is 1/2 the battle.

Nothing yet, but some CBD oil takes the edge off and is easier on the stomach than NSAIDs

.

Tried the CBD oil and couldn't get it to work. DW uses it and says it works. I'm not sure which will kill my liver first - alcohol or NSAIDs - but it sure is a fun game. I'd like to add Cannabis to put my lungs into play as well.

Did you get to wear a sombrero? That would be a cool meeting.

.

I like Mexican food, but just a bad place. No sombrero to wear though.

Morning, folks.
After a couple of relatively warm days it’s back to the deep freeze. At least it stopped snowing.
Off to work!
Have a good one y’all.

It did stop snowing. I'll give you that.

I have room for a RV (small one). Come on down. Not much by way of alcohol, but I have plenty of bacon. Dole whips 40 min away.

I have you now as by back up plan. I can live in the RV and steal what I need from your neighbors. :lmao:

Morning gents from a wet and windy Orlando.

Line of storms going through and already warnings of tornados, but I guess warning no longer means one was spotted, but rather conditions are right. Thought that was watch, but I guess now one actually being spotted should be a tornado panic????

.

I think warning is the bad one and you should take cover. When we had a partial city destruction tornado back in 1999, I was grilling pork chops with propane outside before it touched down about a mile from the apartment. Probably not the safest thing. Sirens were installed all over the town following the big one.

What is wrong with PEI? They have mussels and Anne Shirley. :drinking:

I like mussels.

Enjoy the visit with your son. And, enjoy the free labor. :lmao:

I'm not a fan of team dinners, as like you said, I get paid to be around these people during the day and don't want to hang with them for free at night. Team lunch meetings on the other hand are great as I get out of work, get paid, and get food. ::yes:: :lmao:

Wait... isn't that cheating?

Funny thing. Do you all know there are batteries inside your home thermostats?

um... what?

Holy crap!

Note to self... check thermostat. It was installed 9 years ago.

Now you know, and knowing is 1/2 the battle.

Thanks!

Evening everyone from a tropical (8C ) Westfield NB. Currently we have heavy rain, but at least it is melting the ice. Most of the roads are finally back to asphalt instead of ice.

This is what a PEI winter can look like Pic is from 2015.

We had that happen yesterday. We made it up to 85 and ended up with windows open for a couple of hours.

Well, that sounds like a joy. Must be made by the same people who set all smoke detector battery warnings to only go off between 1:00 - 3:00 a.m.

I thought in Canada this is "Wednesday".

Morning All,

Another school closure day here, 3rd this week. Today was a pre-preemptive closure as we are facing a flash freeze after yesterday's rain. I'm guessing DS will be POed again because he was already off, it's exam week for him and he was done a couple of days ago. He thinks they are wasted closures. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a great day.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Had a nice just the guys dinner last night with DS and tonight taking him and DW out to dinner. DW is struggling as her Dad is getting worse health wise / physically and mom has hip surgery next Tuesday. Brother-in-law is coming into to town to help and we need to discuss as a family what next steps for Poppa is. We have had to force cleaning service twice a week and home care / hospis counselor is meeting with them all on Monday. Have a good weekend and call it anytime you want Dan!
Well, that sounds like a joy. Must be made by the same people who set all smoke detector battery warnings to only go off between 1:00 - 3:00 a.m.
:rotfl2::rotfl2:Along with guys that mount them over a stairway or at the highest point of a cathedral ceiling

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing in Top of the World after cocktails and fireworks gets to take Mulan home. And, let me tell ya, You're a Dragon, not a lizard. Then you don't have to do that tongue thing.

Have a great weekend chaps.
London out.

Good job, Dan. Looks like everyone took your advice and checked out...

When you're good, you're good.

Morning folks. One more hour to go then it's time to head home and to bed. I plan on sleeping through most of my Saturday before taking youngest DD shoe shopping. The joys of parenting, no?
