DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Not much chatter is right.

So... two nights ago... I'm at work. 1am. Got the munchies.
Popcorn. Just the thing! Go pop some, settle in and...

I no sooner start to eat when the fire alarm goes off. Crap!
That's serious business. If we have to evacuate the building,
we would have to sterilize about 1.2 million square miles (2 million square kilometers) of airspace.
I call the manager at home who says two words "Oh sh*t."
He asks who's working the desk where the alarm is monitored.
I check, he tells me the alarm is coming from a ceiling sensor in room 129.
I go out in the hallway and find room 129B. Go in. No sign or smell of smoke.
I go back and the alarm goes off as I'm walking.
The guy says he reset the alarm and all sensors are normal.
I tell him there's nothing in 129B.
He comes with me, we go in the hall, I look up and...
"Wait! My room is 129!"

Oh, no...........

Yeah. As some of you may have guessed... the steam from my microwaved popcorn set off the alarm.

Whoops!

Sorry.

A few minutes later, the same guy comes back in the room and says.
"You want to tell these guys what you told me?"
Just a bunch of firemen in full firefighting gear.

:sad2:

Morning, sons of the revolution and my commonwealth brethren.

Drinking is on the agenda tonight, round my cousins about 4. She lives about 3 streets away, and I get on really well with her husband so a wobbly walk home is in my future.
DS moved up his tennis group today so that was a good stretch for him,
playing with better players.

In honour of CJ, I’ll change my avatar for this week. Chomp Chomp.

Good morning all. Going to DW's friend's 40th or 50th birthday party tonight. I didn't really pay much attention. Not sure why she even drags me along to these things anyway. Hopefully, cake and alcohol will be involved.

Yeah. As some of you may have guessed... the steam from my microwaved popcorn set off the alarm.

:sad2:

Those must be some sensitive detectors. Or, instead of steam, did you just leave the popcorn in the microwave for 10-20 minutes? My oldest did that one time when we were both out and caught the bag on fire. The house reeked for days. :scared1: :sad2: :furious: :lmao:

I noticed that. This is UK's year to beat them though. :lmao:

Does West Ham have a 32 year defeated streak against a club? :sad2:

STEAM?????

I was thinking maybe some spilled out of the bag and got burnt or it was a little overcooked to begin with, but steam? Fire alarms are good, but steam should not set them off.

So, now at work, you will forever be know as THE popcorn guy. :rotfl2:

Or, seeing as it was in the week Burt Reynolds shuffled off the mortal coil.....

Smokey?

Gee thanks.

Nice one, Dan.

Nope. Just steam. I nuked the popcorn for about 90 seconds.... then walked from the kitchen, across the hall and into my office before opening the bag.
Sensitive is right. Apparently, on occasion when people walk, sometimes dust gets dislodged under the floor (all our floors in the operations area are accessible to the miles of cables underneath) and the sensors there trigger a pre-alarm warning.

STEAM?????

::yes::

Steam apparently sets them off. Probably less steam, but heat, maybe?

So far.... no. I'm keeping my hot, buttered little fingers crossed.

Or, seeing as it was in the week Burt Reynolds shuffled off the mortal coil.....

Smokey?

Surprised no one else has said anything about that.

Enjoy the cake and the booze mate. West Ham’s longest defeated streak was against Liverpool away, until 3 seasons ago we hadn’t won since 63.

3 streets..nice! No need for a DD.

Nice switch on the avatar, I think I will do the same, here and at the other place.

US Open finals today. Serena lost first set and then chair umpire gave her a point & game penalty in 2nd set for coaching violation, racquet violation, and then arguing with referee. I've not seen that on any match on tv before that I can think of, but certainly not in a finals.

I mean, the NFL would have enforced the penalty next tournament and let the match continue. :lmao:

Just watched that incident and she deserved it. It was like the Serena of old.

Rainy night in the heart of Appalachia. Lots of things i should be doing, but DS picked up Risk at the thrift store so it is a board game for us tonight.

Tornados touched down here. No damage or injuries, just in fields and farm land. Stay safe.

Not sure I agree on the coaching violation warning though. All coaches, including me, do things more deliberate than that. The racquet and back talking, yeah. Ozaka's coach was caught on camera coaching her, but she didn't get a warning.

if you want to talk pain, try being a Bills fan.:headache:

Two of which were to the Cowboys?

Glad to here there was no damage and all are safe.

As for the coaching violation, if you are going to do it you better be prepared to pay for it. As for Serena she has always been a bad loser and it didn't surprise me to see her reaction.
