‘Morning all…
Lot of actual work required at work this week so I’ve only been able to read along for a while.
Starting to get a bit better so I thought I’d take a minute to make a few pointless points and comment of some things that have already been commented on. Sounds pretty normal don’t ya’ think?

Peanut Butter, Beverly, Beverly, Beverly, Peanut Butter, F'ing Beverly, Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter.

Was transferring money between accounts and I noticed a $783 charge from Sam's Club. Never been, never intend to go there. Jim and Paul can tell you I am a little lax with my cards but this one is untouchable. Never bring it with me, never use it for online purchases, never, ever, never. The only thing I use it for is for is monthly electronic bill paying. Now that the card is canceled, I have to contact all my regular bills and change it over to a new card when I get it in 5-7 days.

Hope the big a$$ TV they bought with the card gets broken in transit.

Yah, that’s not fun.
We had to deal with that kind of nonsense twice in the last 12 months.
PITA to be sure.

The TV's doing just fine though. Great picture. :thumbsup2

So this must be you that I saw the other day then…

DW and I had some serious debate about this situation.

Our oldest missed part of her homework. There was an assignment to read math sentences aloud. My DD missed that. The teacher asked, "Who did this?"
My DD honestly said that she didn't. So DD lost 100 auction points. Auction points are points the kids get to purchase dollar store type junk\trinkets once a quarter. So not a huge deal by any stretch.
I know darn well that there are kids that said, "Yep, I did it." even though they hadn't.
So the kid that is honest sees her actions as a punishment. IMO, I thought since it's the first full week of school, it warrants a warning. My wife, who grew up with said teacher disagrees with me. I suspect she is blindly agreeing with the teacher.

Regardless, I will tell my daughter that I'm proud of her for telling the truth and that karma will take care of the liars.

Teacher should have offered up the points for something that is verifiable, but I agree that your girl is the winner here.
Doing right is not always fun but it is always the best action.

Thanks guys. I have a feeling it was someone from the place where I have a storage locker. I talk to the fraud people tomorrow. Don't worry Norm, I trust you. Besides, it wasn't for something Disney related.

It would be good if you could identify the yutz, but there is now so much hacking of businesses that it could have occurred anywhere. One of the times we got hacked, Visa called us before accepting the charge because it was somewhere we don’t frequent and in a town where we had no history. No damage done. New cards issued. I was surprised they took the initiative. The second time it was a gamer in Denmark of all places. We only use one CC and I have a habit of checking that card’s activity every day regardless so I saw this one first. Again the Visa folks went out of their way to cancel the charge and over-nighted me new cards the next day. Surprised me a might.

Bad_idea_06.jpg

Can’t see that one from work but the comments tell me that I need to check it out once I head home for lunch.

Sorry about that CJ. I just had to cancel one of my cards as well. We got back from Disney, but apparently my credit card number stayed in FL. There were 4 charges that the cc company picked up on and so we had to cancel and reissue.

Yep…
It’s no longer a matter of “if” your CC will get swiped but only “when” and then how soon can you catch it and minimize the damage.

Convenience has many costs and fraud is one of the nastier ones.

It appears CJ has lots of cards and has absolutely no idea where any of them are.

:lmao:

I finished up our door magnets for our 3 night on the Disney Magic in October.
Since we're on the Magic, we went with the theme of Magical Characters. We were debating whether or not Hades qualified as magic vs power of the Gods, but they're my magnets so I get to make the decision.

Nice work there. Triton would fit into the same category as Hades, but in either case their both able conjurers so it’s all good.
That cruise should be a lot of fun and time on the refurbished Magic is something I’d like to experience.

He said nothing crazy. I was thinking something truly Minnesotan. Like a box of Northwoods mosquitoes.

:rotfl2:

Our Sam's club only takes debit cards. I hope you get it sorted out.

Don’t frequent Sam’s but we run into that at Costco. If you order something online, however, then you can use a CC. Maybe Sam’s works the same way.

Make sure you guys decide if you're betting on the point spread. Especially if you're betting something crazy like Dole Whips for Life. :headache:

No point spreads. Straight up. I think it's at 3 points right now in favor of the Patriots at last glance. Apparently the bookies don't actually watch the games.

Paul must be driving.:lmao::lmao:

This is about the 3rd time on my Chase card. It's really getting irritating. I put all of my recurring payments on a separate card that is locked in a safe. Have not had any problems with that one yet. Fingers crossed.

Very nice Barry. If you had read the Percy Jackson novels, you'd know that the power of the gods counts as magic.
That's the Wisconsin State Bird.

Stop looking at my nipples.
Its ours too. Those beasts up in the Boundary Waters can carry away small children.

it tells you that a lot of betters don't watch the games. The Pats are still a name and the Vikings haven't done much since the New Orleans Bounty Hunters cheated their way to the Super Bowl. The guys that set the line just want even money on both sides. I work in the industry. That 2% house advantage is why the Bellagio has marble floors in the bathrooms.
We have Lyme disease carrying deer ticks here. :lmao::lmao:
We got those too. That is nothing to laugh about.

Sorry to hear you are also dealing with the same issue.

Nicely done sir. Maybe a side business?

I thought Sam's only takes debit cards.

It was a debit card. Since I caught it so quickly, whatever it was probably wasn't shipped yet. The guy had to have it delivered somewhere and hoping they can catch him through that. Talked to security and they think it possibly could be someone at the storage place. Going to write a check for 6 months rent and take them off recurring charges. Keep your fingers crossed Jim, this card was locked in a safe and not used for anything other than recurring charges.

Tough call. I can see both sides. For one the teacher really has to have some recourse for a student who admittedly didn't complete the assignment, but I totally see what you mean by it encouraging lies.

I think you're doing right to applaud and encourage your DD to do the right thing. I think the teacher could be setting up a system that can easily be corrupted if this is how homework assignments will be evaluated going forward. By the end of the year there might be 1 or 2 students actually doing the work but they'll all day they did...

I'm going to dust off my old teaching cap and put it back on. The teacher should have never asked that question because there is no way to verify it. Now she just taught her students that lying helps you get ahead. Good job teaching that honesty is the best policy and that karma will take care of the rest.

I can see both sides, but not sure you can reward a student for not doing what was asked. The penalty seems to be pretty minor and the reward is that you got an awesome kid there that was raised right. How about everyone accepts the loss of 100 points and you take that little princess out for ice cream! Treats with dad are always better than crap from the dollar store.:thumbsup2

The teacher needs a better system of checking the assignment. But your daughter should only be concerned with what she controls. Being honest is the right thing, even if it hurts in the short term. My experience is that liars are eventually exposed over the long haul.

So, the teacher is training future politicians? Be sure to lie about your lack of accomplishments.
Thanks for your insights, guys. No wrong or right answer, I just thought that there was a better way to do it. for the record, the teacher is good teacher, just thought this was a flawed validation process. It was more of a life lesson than anything. But in the end there are 2 things that I do subscribe to.
1. Be accountable. The homework was assigned, do it.
2. Do the right thing. Which DD did.

But enought about that. I feel like I have been bringing an unncessary negative vibe to our little corner of the world here with my recent rants about Ray Rice, Baconless events at school and teaching strategies.

So I'll share my ADRs for my November trip to put fortha more positive vibe. :goodvibes

Saturday: Raglan Road

A. Your team still lost. Mine just didn't cover the spread.
B. You still haven't collected. So keep watchin' those bananas dance. That's going to have to be your winnings for the foreseeable future.

That's gross.

Evening..

Morning guys. I am one week into beard watch 2014. I had a decent one last year, but shaved when we got our first false travel date. DW hasn't complained yet, so hopefully in a few months I'll have an awesome beard like my hero Randall!!

I had a good three week one going, but chickened out in the end...I think all the white spooked me. :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2

And that reminds me....

Last night was curriculum night at our daughters' school. The 1st grade teacher was going over the usual stuff and came to the agenda where they talk about unique school events...concerts, field trips, etc.
We have one that's called Farmer's breakfast. The kids often come in wearing farm theme attired like overalls or girls come in with pig tails. The Teachers and parents cook up eggs, bacon and toast. this year.....

NO BACON :furious:

She cited kids with religious beliefs and kids eating too much.

WT..? Wow, this sounds like something our overly protective government would do. Tell the school I'll take the offending bacon off their hands.

Welcome back Brent. Is it snowing up there yet?:lmao::lmao:

Raining, been fairly muggy, no snow. One day last week it was hotter here then in Orlando...go figure..
