Hey fellas. Seems I have been off the grid/DIS for a bit of a stretch. Looks like we got ourselves a shiny new thread.

Update on my world, we got he house we wanted, close in September. This has been the major focus for a bit. Last weekend, we took the girls for 2 nights of camping in Banff National Park. It was great, mountains, campfire, wildlife.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Congrats on the new house!

Morning guys. CYO kickball starts off tonight, woo hoo!

We had our company picnic over the weekend and one of the activities was putt putt. I learned a couple of things: A). There are no golf prodigies among my children - I blame it on DW since no one in her family can walk and chew gum at the same time. 2). You know you have kids from Eastern Europe when they hold the putter like a hockey stick :). They shot better that way than the "correct" way I tries to show them. And the word better is used loosely, lol. A ton of laughs though!

You just need to make them modified putters like in Happy Gilmore!

Good luck in kickball. ;)

Maybe you should set up a little mini putt course in your yard so the kids can practice. Next year, you guys would rule the company picnic.

Congrats on the new house. Still in Calgary?

:sad1: Sorry to hear that.

Maybe a good time to switch to scotch though? :confused3 Are there any hops in there?

Ouch.
It looks like I'm going to have to explain hops to my daughters. I want them to understand why we are saying prayers for you tonight.

...
Since you live in Eastern KY, you are guaranteed to get disability. :lmao: :crazy2:

When DW managed Red Lobster, she developed an allergy to crab - not eating - but shelling them. Now, she is able to shell her order of crab legs with no problems. Maybe you just have been around them too long or handled too many? Amazingly, I'm still not allergic to bourbon. :lmao:

That's not good but good luck on the disability part.

Thanks guys. Probably over exposure. I know a USDA strawberry breeder who is allergic to strawberries. I won't push for the disability thing or they will want me to start working with something like Brussels sprouts. :sad2:

Hey I'm not taking another long 17 day trip, 9 more shifts, and I take a more moderate 16 day stretch

:rotfl:

Thanks guys & sorry Norm, just got off the phone and all is switched to a July 7 night on the Fantasy. A few more bucks but beats loosing money or not able to go with all 4 of us. For those that question some of us "why do you always do Disney" - here's one for Disney as it was simple, easy and the cast member was outstanding :thumbsup2

Glad things worked out well.

Congrats on the new money pit! I've always wanted to take the train from Vancouver to Banff. I'll do that after I get settled into Golden Oak.

Sounds like the adjustment is going well.

‘Morning all…
Nothing new to report, and in the long run, that may well be a good thing.

I would recommend that you avoid NCL but if you do, the cabins would not be comfortable for 4 people.

I’ll keep that in mind.
Anything specific, aside from the small cabins, that causes you to shy away from Norwegian?

Me too. I might be able to return to it in November.

Where’s the envy emotocon when you need it

This isn't rant worthy so decided to drop it in here rather than resurrect that thread, but I think I have discovered I am allergic to hops. Not only would that impact my consumption of adult beverages, it also happens to be one of my research responsibilities. :headache: Wonder if I could play that into a disability and early retirement. :rolleyes1

Not good…
May that be a temporary reaction. I’d hate to have to see you switch over to something less appealing...
like Brussels’s Sprouts.

:lmao:
So I take it that: “’Cause some folks you just need to be prayin’ for”, is a might too general an explanation.

Glad you got it worked out. We’re planning to get aboard the Fantasy in May if we can swing it. I’ll try not to tear things up too much so it’ll still be in decent shape once y’all get down there in July.

The shine has worn off a bit, but welcome back is either case.
Congrats on the new residence. May the move go smoothly

Maybe you need to get them on the ice then.
Sounds like a lot of fun was had and that the adjusting process is moving along fairly well thus far.

We did enjoy the cruise and would do NCL again if the price and itinerary was right but they are 3rd on the list of cruise lines we have used, behind Carnival and Disney.

It seemed to us that NCL was all about the specialty restaurants they have on-board. As a result, we found the food in the MDRs and at the buffet to be average at best. IN fact there were 2 nights that I had a hard time finding something I was really interested in for diner. We also thought the wait staff was hit and miss, while some were downright unfriendly.

We were on the Dawn and they had only one pub plus one lounge for the evening crowds. They were both very crowded and the pub had karaoke just about every night, that got old very fast.

We just didn't think it was worth the price overall.

Top 'O the mornin lads. Glad to get on to Tuesday, though my Monday finally turned for a positive with getting the our DCL schedule re-done.

Get them one of these to help bridge the gap between hockey & golf. Plus if they are goin to be hockey fans need to get them following the right team :)

Thanks gents and if you go in May feel free to leave your tab / bill open. We will gladly close it out for ya :rotfl2:

Morning guys,

Got back yesterday and am still trying to catch up on some sleep. Had a great little trip. The wedding was a lot of fun and I was able to see old friends. Can’t say enough about the Boston part of the trip. I loved touring around Boston. Great city. If he wasn’t my nemie, I would say Jim came through big time with unbeliveable seats for the game. Fenway is all they make it out to be even if the Sox stunk up the joint. It was cool to also hang out with Paul and Jim’s buddy. Good times, good friends.

While I was away, the Pirate Princess was certified in coral restoration and she continues to pad the resume. I don’t know if I posted this pic from an earlier restoration trip.

Summer is now officially winding down. The kid left today to see her Aunt for a few days and other than getting her Rescue Diver certification, not a lot going on until she heads back to school. May go with her to the Keys for a day or two but am more or less home bound until the October trip to the World. All is not lost however because my cable provider decided to add the SEC network. Can’t wait for the season to start.

A lot of catching up to do here but until I do, here is hoping everyone has a great week.

Congrats on the new house. Still in Calgary?

Yessir. Still in Calgary. Only about a 7 minute drive from our current abode. When we moved back to Calgary, we decided to rent initially, to get ourselves established, save some money, and decide on neighbourhoods.

For all that is holly - another cruise line :duck:

Thats exactly what I said. She just shook her head at me and walked away.:(

calm before the storm? Sounds like busy in a good way. Good luck with the trip preparations. Planning is half of the fun!

If you can call this calm.:lmao::lmao: I'm pretty sure the day all of this stops, I'll drop dead from exhaustion. :rolleyes1

Golf, beach party and tryout - sounds like those 9 days will be flying by.

Yes, they will. DD made me change one of her FP+ on Sunday and then told me last night to change it back. When I told her it doesn't work that way she made it perfectly clear that she WILL be getting the original time back.:scared:

I would recommend that you avoid NCL but if you do, the cabins would not be comfortable for 4 people.

Thanks for the tip!

:eek: I'd spend all say researching all alcoholic products that do not include hops. Blasphemy! Drink it anyway.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ouch.

And there I was feeling sorry for you that you had to return to work. Expect many PM's and texts while I am in Disney just to rub it in.

Glad it all worked out. That's what I was telling DW!:confused3 Maybe you could give her a call and explain it to me. She won't yell at you.

They stopped kick ball around here, can't even play it in gym class.:sad2: dodge ball too.:sad2::sad2: Apparently the good athletes were making the bad athletes feel bad and the sports were too violent.
