We wanted to purchase property around WDW. We found some great houses that we would be able to rent as well but the costs of maintaining a house that we used only a few weeks of the year didn't seem smart. All those pesky months bills- cable, electricity, phone, etc with nobody there seemed dumb. So we went and bought DVC. :rotfl:
?

Real Estate is a great investment, if I had the cash. I don't want to have to borrow money and be a long distance landlord - too much risk. Pre-paid DVC vacations made the most sense to me.

We've had an interesting couple of weeks. Work has been a bear, the girls currently have hockey, track, swimming, skating, volleyball and softball going, and last week one of the dads in our parrish suddenly passed. He was a great guy, dad to 4 (oldest is 11) and very involved with the kids. He was only 42. Definitely has added some perspective in our community.
.

It does. Prayers for him and his family.

Spent 2 hours this AM for my boss on a scheduling thing. He pays an assistant to do scheduling. Hmmmmmm........

:

I think they make it creepier by turning off the music so they move around in silence. Same thing with HM

But it would be quieter for me to sleep. I still have to figure out where to shower.

So tomorrow I reenlist give 4 more years to the good ole USAF. .

Thank you for your service.

Thought I would post a few pictures from the weekend.

No medal but they gave out Tiffany necklaces. She did really well finishing in 2:06 and a new PR.

All in all a good weekend. She found out that a HS friend who is at Penn was running along with her roommate. Took them all out to dinner the night before the race and made sure they ate well. I remember my starving days in college. Ended the weekend with a great cookout Sunday night. Good food with a good friend and my daughter. Not the worse way to end a weekend.

Looks like a great weekend. Congrats to DD.

Packing is 75% finished :). We have to get to the airport a little earlier then planned because the only seats we have assigned are for our flight to Chicago. We can't get the other ones assigned (without paying) until we check in. We don't want the girls to be separated from us. I'm sure we could work it out, but I'd rather not have to haggle with someone when we switch planes at 5:30am German time.

I sound like I'm speaking German if you woke me up at 5:00 AM. Continued prayers.

Also looking forward to my place in Hillbilly Villa since I hear Norm is buying. I'd even be happy to drive the tram around so I can tell everyone where to get off. :scratchin

Hope you survived another. You are welcome to sleep in my front yard anytime. ;)

Yeesh! you guys have been busy around here.

Let me ‘splain…No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

I do not accept excuses! I'll just have to find a new giant, that's all.

Very sorry to hear that. Seems to be a lot of that going around lately.

Thanks for the pics CJ ya gotta be very proud of DD

Looks like you had some great father/daughter time there, CJ. :thumbsup2

Looks like one very fine outing there CJ. Good that you got to get up there. Congrats to the Pirate Princess as well. She done good (and makes her poppa rightfully proud)

Glad to hear it was a good weekend CJ. Congrats to the shiv-wielding princess on the half. That's a big time race, sounds like she did awesome. :thumbsup2

CJ great job by the DD, congrats on the father/daughter weekend

Congrats to Team Crash. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Looks like a great weekend.

Congratulations to Crash! Great time too!
Sounds like a great weekend!

Looks like a great time, and it seemed like you needed some good times after recent weeks.

CJ: Looks like A had a great time in DC. Won't get into the political stuff but I think you know my stance on that one.

Looks like a great weekend. Congrats to DD.

Thanks guys, I will send along your congrats to the runner. I wasn't going to spend the money to go but I am glad I did. We both needed a break and this was the perfect thing to do. Lots of laughs and fun times.

We leave Friday morning!

Safe travels and if you get a chance, let us know how things are going. What you guys are doing is awesome. Can't wait to hear how it went.

We leave Friday morning!

Remember that God and the DISDads have your back! :thumbsup2

Alex, Thank you for your service.

CJ, always good to hear about your's and your DD the PP adventures.

Brian, I am so sorry, will add he's family to my prayers.

And for the rest of you, Prayers for those in need; Praise for those deserving; Disney, Dole Whips & Bacon for All!

Don't tell her about the scorpions or spiders.
No income tax sounds nice but be careful on the property tax. It can vary by huge amounts just going a half mile down the road. Each school district, city, and county can charge property tax so each time you cross one of those lines it changes. In my neighborhood taxes run around $1500-$2000 a year. A few blocks over you cross the county line and it jumps to around $2500, for roughly the same priced houses.
At the end of the year unless you are making pro athlete money, it will be a wash for most people.
If you can talk her into it you may find better work in Austin. Lots of tech work here and anyone who can program or run an IT team will have work thrown at them.

Don't tell about spiders and scorpions... check
Varying taxes based on locality... check
Go to Austin instead... check :lmao:

Thanks for the advice. I've heard Plano/ Dallas is another tech haven. Still doing more research on all this. You guys are helping a lot.

We’ll go retrieve our prodigal after the last of the commencement ceremonies next Saturday (He’s one of the musicians they hired to stay and take care of the music for those little gatherings). After that his plans are more vague this year (and penniless as well). Not to worry, I’ll put him to work for the same no money that he’s currently planned.
We’ll see if that changes his mind set a might.:rolleyes1

:lmao: "the same no money"... love that incentive plan :thumbsup2

In the end, it's still money being taken by the government to pay politicians to do nothing.

Good thing it doesn't ALL go to politicians. Although, I just read how our commander in chief has so far spent $40 million on vacations since he took office. That's a lot of Disney World right there.

Thanks. I really don't know which is worse - measuring "hot as balls" or having a MIL in the MIL Suite? :lmao:

:lmao::lmao: Two very different things that should never be mixed!

You may have won the internet, but we'll have to wait for Andy. Affordable health insurance! Hahahahaha. :crazy2: :sad1:

:badpc::badpc::badpc:

Don, looks like Norm is loaded. Skip Texas and have him buy you a place in Golden Oaks. :thumbsup2

:cool1::cool1::cool1: Has anyone actually seen that place in person??

His section are the Hillbilly Villa's. The outhouses are painted gold and have a great view of Wishes!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

On the rides at WDW, I've been looking for places to hide and sleep through the night. You know, try to get on of the last rides of the night and them jump off the boat in IASW and hide among the characters. I wonder if they will notice me or if they play that song the whole night? :lmao:

Nah... they'll never find you. You should totally do that on your next trip :thumbsup2 Double dog dare ya

One more round of potentially sever weather and we will be done with it for a bit. Heading north to the vacation :headache: house and then on to the regional Bible Quiz contest. Looking forward to this all being done soon.

Regional Bible Quiz sounds like fun! Hope they do well ;) Stay safe!

So tomorrow I reenlist give 4 more years to the good ole USAF.

I did the "r" word once... that was enough. :lmao: Seriously, though, thank you for your service.

Well I was running around in long sleeve BDUs so really hot.

:headache: Now why would you do that?? Oh yeah... they tell you to.

Thought I would post a few pictures from the weekend.

Sounds like a good weekend all around! Very cool! And a PR for the Cheetah! That's awesome!

Good morning guys. Tough to stay up to speed here with this 10 day trip and 16 hour work days. Congrats, positive thoughts and looks like all are doing good, hillbilly villas - too funny. DD cam home from school Monday and made it safe with this weather. Her 4th knee surgery is Monday so wish us / her luck.

4th knee surgery! Wow! Will add her to the prayer list

Wow... that's crazy. I'm so sorry to hear that. That's my age... and my DD's age. I can't even imagine what they are going through. Many prayers for that family.

Glad she made it home safe. How did her year go? Wish her luck from us on the surgery. I know this has gone on for a while and hopefully this will be the end to it.

Sorry to hear about your friend and yes it puts things into perspective. Life is too short and we have to live it to the fullest. Let me know when you are down here again, I could use a good dinner out.

Are you his assistant?

No. That was for the hmmmmmmm. I don't care to constantly solve problems and fix screw ups, but I don't get paid any extra. The thrills of working for university.

Good thing it doesn't ALL go to politicians. Although, I just read how our commander in chief has so far spent $40 million on vacations since he took office. That's a lot of Disney World right there.!

True. Some of it goes to me and several other of us.

A.

Having 30 years of pre-paid DVC vacations isn't much good if one is banned from WDW property.

So, Florida State Heisman QB has been cited for stealing crab legs from Publix. This was 4 months after the rape case/investigation was closed? Perhaps he is innocent of this charge as well? Perhaps he is guilty of both?

I am in no way perfect. After all this Sterling stuff, I'm just tired of seeing this in sports.

Thanks for the advice. I've heard Plano/ Dallas is another tech haven. Still doing more research on all this. You guys are helping a lot.

Don't go there. Nothing good happens in Dallas. :rotfl:
And I need an excuse to come to San Antonio more often anyway. Lulus Cafe has 5 pound cinnamon rolls and chicken fried steak that falls off the plate it is so big.
If your wife wants San Antonio that's where your going anyway. :lmao:

Agree. I'm tired of my sports radio turning into TMZ everytime I get into my truck. Just once I want to make my round trip commute without hearing about some sports figure in trouble. Its 30min each way, how hard is that?

Glad she’s through another successful year of hitting the books.

Not so much on the surgery. She’s had a hard go of it since that injury.
May the procedure be uneventful and successful (and the recovery quick).

WEnt back a few pages… you guys talk a lot. :hyper2:

And yet we seem to say so little :rotfl:

Truly sad… and a bit frightening.
Our condolences for the family’s loss and for that of the community.

:cool1::cool1::cool1: Has anyone actually seen that place in person??

I kind’a think that Golden Oak’s is a bit like Xanadu or Valhalla…
It’s copiously written about by folks that ain’t never seen it.

And likely won't :rotfl2:

I saw the Golden Oak sign. I didn't try to get past the guard shack.

I must have missed this earlier. Prayers for your dd.

As a Florida fan, I am torn up about it. Seems he mistakenly left the store with the crab legs without paying for them. Suspended from the baseball team until he completes the 20 hours of community service that was ordered. Wonder what Jimbo is going to do when the season starts. Probably not much.

I usually grab crab legs at the store, put them in pocket, and forget to pay for them when I get up to the cash register. I hate it when that happens. I thought from that one Florida post that Publix was sacred. :lmao:

Thanks you guys. She had a great first year came out with honor roll and gonna take an on-line course this summer as well around her rehab. Will let yas know how it goes Monday. All the best to Max and PP with wrapping up their year as well.

Suppose to be going to Studios tonight as part of customer convention. Private event with free food and beverages including the adult kind. Raining like a - you know Orlando spring thunderstorm and not sure we are gonna deal with stuff for 4 hours of park time in the rain.
