Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Monday night ownage.

What a loooong morning. Time to fire up the old coffee pot. Anyone have any good recomendations for what to give your kids so they will sleep on an airplane? DW has already said no to scotch, the sleeper hold and a head butt :lmao:

Benadryl. The dds' pediatrician said there are no Benadryl addicition clinics out there. Works great.

Good afternoon gents, trust all had a good weekend. Out of town on business so a bit late checking in today. Next week I head out Orlando for a customer convention. Down side is 1+ week out of town, upside is a night at DHS for the convention attendees only including free food and beverage. Here's to a good week for all.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

Hey Tim! Yes... all is well now. Have really been in a Disney funk (sort of like Carl). After having been blessed with 3 trips last year we decided we are taking a break from Disney. Not sure how long. But we are going to Orlando end of May for 5 days and taking advantage of our Busch Gardens platinum passes. This trip kind-of fell in our lap. In essence we are getting free accommodations (timeshare stuff), half the airfare paid with points and credits, and all parks with be free (free parking, too). Whole trip under a grand. Down-side... no Disney :( May still hit DTD though :cool1:

DW keeps bugging me to go to Sea World, and I'm sure I'll here about Universal one of these days. However, still just can't get over there.

Bar-hopping the monorail resorts is probably the best of all worlds...

I prefer drinking around the World Showcase, especially if you're buying.

You sound like my mother in law trying to invite herself... which she did when DW mentioned that my parents wanted to take the cruise. I will let you know which one we take and if you happen to be on the ship that's your money. I would not be opposed to a Dis meet we had a few pretty good ones on our honeymoon cruise. Still keep in touch with one of them.

It's always worth a shot.

Mine has the same bug she keeps talking about free ticket too. It's hard to find time though. Plus we would need a grandparent so we could ride the coasters.

Yeah you had to try I get it.

Gentleman, I humbly request membership in your distinguished club.

My name is Dave. I have been blessed with the role of "Stay At Home Dad" for 10 years now. I have a 10 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. Part of my job description as SAHD is "Family Travel Coordinator." :thumbsup2

I grew up on the west coast and some of my fondest childhood memories were the 3 seperate trips we took to Disneyland.

I rediscovered my love of Disney in 2009. Since then my family has taken 4 Disney Cruises, two trips to WDW, and two family trips to the Disneyland Resort. I was also able to fly down for a one day trip with a friend for lunch in Club 33 last May. I've managed to work in Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at WDW and Christmas time at Disneyland.

I am a regular listener of both Dis Unplugged podcasts (just added the DisDads podcast to my queue). I have a gold D23 membership. My kids have given me at least 2 different Disney coffee mugs as gifts. I have more Disney shirts and jackets than I count without going to the closet.

When it comes to planning vacations I am a firm believer in "Think Disney First." My wife - "What about San Fran?", "Sure! We could visit the Walt Disney Family Museum". Hawaii? Aulani! Europe? Disney Cruise and Disneyland Paris!

My lovely wife insisted that our last trip be Disney free. :( While we did spend spring break this year on beach in Mexico, I still wore a Disney item or two and brought a copy of Mary Poppins to read next to the pool.

Our next Disney trip will be an Alaskan cruise in July of 2015.

What can I say - I'm a Disney nut and proud of it. So, um, mind if I join y'all?

This day in history April 14: 1865 - President Lincoln shot at Ford's Theater 1912 - Titanic struck by an iceberg I guess considering those events, my day wan't so bad.

Glad to hear you didn't have "one of those" days :)

Welcome Dave. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You just mail them all to me and I distribute them.

Glad to hear you didn't have "one of those" days :)
!

It's April 15. Looks like the death (Lincoln, Titanic) was yesterday, so today's certainty must be ......:furious:

Welcome to the Club Dave!

And just so you know Norm doesn't distribute the dues. :furious:

Hahahahaha! The newbie said we're "distinguished!" I love it when the new guys come in with high expectations and realize that we're just a bunch of yahoo sitting around telling fart jokes.

Anyway, welcome aboard. Pull my finger.

You really should take her over there one time. Just be prepared for comments like, "This is not clean like Disney World." or "This queue is so boring... it's not like Disney World." or "In Disney World I wouldn't have bad customer service like this"..... In the words of Ariel, "it's a whole new world"

I may have to brush up my TR writing skills and actually document this upcoming trip. :rolleyes1

Don made a funny :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I thought I might get a chuckle or two from that comment :rotfl:

But seriously... sitting here re-reading the last TR I wrote and now I remember when I used to write them. Annnnddddd... it's been long enough to remember what a pain it is to write them! :lmao: Who knows... it COULD happen... (ok... yes, you can get off the floor laughing your head off now)

You could do it Norm's way and do it live. Or you can do it my way, just post pictures to the DISDad's Travelogue.

I kind-of do that through FB when I'm there. But there is just something special about writing everything down and including the pics in a TR. Hmmm... MAYBE I'll just start a PTR....:surfweb:

I shouldn't really laugh though. My last TR took 15 months to write. However it did cover 11 days. :rolleyes1

Anyone doing their taxes today? :headache:
Picked them up from the accountant yesterday and popped my $51 check to the good 'ol state of Connecticut in the mail. :headache:
