I've personally never heard it used in this manner, It's the urban dictionary which allows people to submit words and definitions to add so I imagine its not common and prob no one uses it.

Norm, it is too bad that your FIL insists on everyone staying in the same resort. My first thought was to stick your BIL and SIL somewhere else... even if it means putting them up in a deluxe while you slum it.

I guess you could go with Fort Wilderness and just request cabins that aren't exactly right next to each other.

I think he knows if they stay at different resort, they will try to dump their kids on him and disappear.

15 pages behind. No point in trying to catch up. Maybe next thread I'll have more time. The next 5 weeks have me on the road just about every other day covering almost every county in eastern KY.

Got the second quote on getting the car repaired and it is just under $900 which is better than the $1600 the dealer was going to charge. Since the first $1K is mine I guess I will "save" $100 and go with the guy the next county over. SWMBO is wondering when we will get our money from the guy that hit us. She wants to hire a lawyer and sue the guy, which would end up costing us more than we could get since he has nothing. Cold, rational logic just doesn't seem to run through her thought processes.

I could rant about Paypal as well, but it isn't worth it. I've used it less than two dozen times and am going to cancel it once I get the latest $20 mess straightened out.

Good morning fellow dads, I know I have been absent a lot from the boards, hope everyone is doing well, I have a question, I have been getting more and more active in running and exercise and plan on doing the Coast to Coast RunDisney races next year with Marathon Weekend 2015 and Avengers Half 2015 but since those are not until next year I've been thinking of also doing the ToT 10 miler this year, my question is about pulling kids from school to go to Disney, do many of my fellow dads do this?

For ToT I would need to take DD6 out the Friday before fall break (if DD wants to do the 5k, we are doing a glow run 5k next month so that will prob help decide)Marathon weekend the Friday after coming back from Winter break and Avengers I'm assuming also the Friday mainly all for packet pickup. Is it wrong to think of pulling a child out of school for a Disney trip?

We pulled our kids out until DS reached middle school, usually for a week. We got letters home from the school, but it had no effect on their education whatsoever. DD is in 6th this coming year and the last time I would even think of pulling her out so I am thinking of a dad/DD trip this October as well. Sounds like we may have a chance to say hello.

Back before Christmas, FIL announced he wanted to pay and take his family - kids, spouses, grand kids - on vacation in Summer 2015. He asked my DW and her brother (my infamous BIL) to pick a vacation destination. We suggested Disney, Universal/Sea World, or Beach/Cruise. SIL pouted and didn't want any of those places because DW suggested them. Oh yeah, the dysfunction runs deep.

So, my FIL calls yesterday and just says we are all going to WDW and asks me to get some prices. Immediately, SIL has decided her youngest child (infant) won't be going on vacation with everyone because he would be too young to enjoy it. So, we'll see whether or not the manipulation tactic will work.

BIL is a family of 6 (with infant), so I thought about AoA, POR, or a GV. Then, I thought about each family having their own cabin at Fort Wilderness, as each sleeps 6. I'll discuss some options with FIL, but the prices are all fairly close together.

Tell SIL that the baby will be fine with a sitter and you've already booked it. Watch how fast you need to add one to the reservation. You know what they say.....can't pick your family.....

We did ours on the 3rd. We are getting WAY more than we had expcted. We knew DS would be good for us and taxes but we did not know how good. I think we are getting close to double what I expected.

Congrats! The child tax credit is a wonderful thing. Sounds like time for you to plan a new trip as well.

Alright registered for 2014 ToT 10 miler! Now to look into renting points and possibly staying at boardwalk, sadly I am no longer a DVC member so gotta go back to renting. How has everyone been? DDC is marathon weekend I believe, but I'm sure we are just crazy enough to find a cruise to do as well.

I had to sell my BLT contract as well. When the van died, I sold it to buy DW a car. I inherited the Pontiac Aztek. I still have my BWV contract

I apologise if this has been talked about in the past but I learned something new, I accidentally searched for Disney Dad instead of DisDad and it brought up the urban dictionary def of a Disney Dad: A father who doesn't have physical custody of his child. So, to compensate for this, he makes the visitation times with his child all about fun. The child's homework isn't done, there isn't a set bedtime and the child stays up late, the child watches all kinds of inappropriate movies/tv/video games. The father is more like a "friend" that's a bad influence than a parent.

This type of father chooses to live far away enough from his child so he has an "excuse" not to participate in school and extra-curricular activities, unless he wants to.

He will also dictate to the custodial parent on how to raise his child but rarely offers to help in the rearing in any manner.

Learn something new everyday. I'm sure this is common in parenting, but still feels wrong.

I'm guessing the guy that writes the urban dictionary is related to Norm.

Hello Boys.

Back from our week long adventure on the east coast. Had great meet-ups with Mark, Randall and Eric along the way. Saw all kinds of awesome stuff in Philly, Baltimore and DC. Hopefully we taught the kids a civics lesson or two.

What struck me the most was that on Tuesday, we saw the original Wright Brothers "aeroplane". On Friday, we saw the Space Shuttle Discovery. We've come quite a long ways in just over 100 years.

We are good. Just finishing up the winter sports season and relaxing for a couple of weeks before the spring seasons start. Other than that, just waiting for this $$%%^#&*% winter to end. DS is finishing up 8th grade and will be in high school in September. The time flies, enjoy them while they are young. Dd birthday is 10/8 and planning to try to be there then so it should work out as long as we do actually go. Good to see you around.

I hate that I haven't been on the boards more but I'm back to making Disney/dark side plans, feel like I'm out of the loop on Disney stuff, since I have a 3 day trip in mid sept, had to do the same for the Oct trip but it'll actually be a 2 day trip since we are flying out late Thursday and fly out early Sunday so with the 5k and 10miler, it'll pretty much be all day Friday and half of Saturday but looking forward to it.

Well we have ToT 10 miler registered and now flights booked, now just waiting on a few renters so I can book SSR for the weekend, DD decided she wanted to do AKV for marathon weekend so got that booked today also, I prob should of done more research on the 2 but got Jambo house, not sure which is better though.

We stayed at a savannah view at Kidani. Jambo has the QS and a larger pool. Kidani has the water slide and splash area. They did water games for the children there. I kinda liked the idea of entering the Jambo house lobby, so I think that will be cool.

You can file a claim yourself in small claims court. All you owe is the Court fees.

My guess is she will have MIL, still bitter about the divorce 30 years ago, to baby sit. That way, she can call and cause problems during the vacation.

Thanks. I haven't done my bracket yet, but I think I'll have UL winning it all again. I like UK - a lot of talent and tweak - but need to see the matchups. I may have them in the Final Four. But, I'm kinda biased.
