Woke up with a flat tire so my to do list just changed. Happy Tuesday! Not!

It only cost me $400 to get there and back......Oh, wait am minute........Sorry to hear about the tire. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Call AAA, they change it in about 6 minutes.

No, the MOST important thing to remember is don't try to drink around the world during F&W.

That other thing is pretty important too though.

I agree with that.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 It was a long night.

Morning Guys.

DS took an acorn to the eye yesterday and now has a scratched cornea. Thought I was going to be working from home today but he decided that he could handle the watery eye and go to school. I think he's looking for the sympathy.

:rotfl2:

I'm assuming there was some sort of acorn fight going on. Otherwise, that is one squirrel with great aim. :lmao::lmao:

Hope Declan feels better.

Jim’s scheduling must be off…
I’m pretty sure that was supposed to happen on Monday.

Monday was a payroll day. Much more important to get paid so it had to wait a day.

Good Morning Gentlemen

Awful loud this morning, aren't ya sport.:confused3

I still havent caught up since the weekend so I am not going to quote things.I am going to shoot from the hip.

Happy Birthday to all that had one.
Welcome to the new guys..
No one love Biergarten more then I do.
I am sure Randall is still being Randall.
Hope all is going well with those training for their races.
If it has BACON then it is breakfast.
Yes the Steelers are sucking it up right now.
My Disney trip for Nov is still up in the air.
Where ever Paul wants to eat meals for the DDC2 is good with me.
Kona for breakfast on Sun is a must!!

Lets see did I miss anything?

It's not Monday?
Norm has decided 16 year old cousins are OK in KY.
CJ needs a mechanic.:rolleyes1
And the updated stats are posted.

Other than that, nope, didn't miss a thing.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Not too bad. Harvest has been slowly getting started around here for a few weeks, however, we just started on our farm yesterday. Well, really we started last Wednesday, but we just got the combine out and shelled a semi load of corn just to make sure everything was working the way it should. Yesterday was the real first day.

So far everything looks good. Corn seems to be above average. In fact, I think on some of our fields where we caught a few extra rains we could be looking at record yields on that ground. The beans have been hurt a little bit by the hot dry weather late this summer, but yields I've been hearing from some neighbors actually seem to be much better than expected as well, so hopefully that trend continues with ours. :thumbsup2

Glad the crops are doing well! After the last couple of seasons, it must feel good to catch a little break. Continued good luck.

::yes::

2011 was bad. Last year set the record on bad. I don't know if our overall average can be a record for us or not, but it will most definitely be much, much better than either of the last 2 years. :thumbsup2

A new stat category! :rotfl2::lmao:

That is good news...here's hoping it all turns out great

Haven't posted here in a while, but I'm in need of some Pixie Dust.

I've known about this for about three weeks now, but yesterday I got the official email: my company will not be renewing my contract near the end of October. They just don't have enough programs to justify having a full-time native English speaker. They will, however, keep me to teach classes on a part-time basis (maybe 8 hours a week for most weeks, possibly as little as 4). On the plus side, since I worked for POSCO Research Institute for two years, that's a great thing to have on a resume. On the negative side, since we've been planning our trip to the States for December, and have already bought the tickets and what not, it's making finding a full-time job (that will allow me to take a three week vacation after only about a month of working with them) difficult. Probably wouldn't be able to start anything till the new year.

We have another year left on our housing contract, so we'll be staying in Pohang at least until next summer or so. Then, we plan on moving to the States (we're tired of dealing with one-year contracts and moving all the time). We're going to spend most of our trip in December scoping out neighborhoods and suburbs of Chicago. Any advice would be very welcome. (To give you guys an idea of what we're looking for, we'd like to be in a nice neighborhood with nice schooling, etc., relatively close to Korean communites/other families, and not too expensive {all we can afford is 100k or under}). Also, any potential job leads would be nice (preferably dealing with international relations, perhaps at a university [but not teaching, I don't have a teaching degree]).

I didn't put this in the rant section, because I'm not at all angry with the company, I completely understand their viewpoint (plus, they want me to keep working with them, even if it's just a limited basis). We just have a lot of stress these days due to the situation.

Prayers that everything works out in the end Casey

Sorry to hear. At least you have a little bit of notice. Good luck finding something full time before your house get cut.

Have never been to the Chicago area, but if you decide to look around New England (probably way too expensive) let me know. I have a lot of close friends that are real estate agents and have done some relocations.

Sorry to hear about your contract. I live in a military town so I know a lot of folks who go through that every year. I can't speak to Chicago, but I can tell you there is a large Korean population here, and there are a number of contract jobs out at Fort Hood. How one goes about applying and such, I cannot say for certain as I've never done it.

Housing wise, 100K would get you a 1500-1700 sf 3 or 4 bedroom home. Ours was 105, we have 4 bdrms, 1650 sq feet, house was 5 years old when we bought it. Did a check with a realtor a couple of months back and they advised it would be around the same value now. (The military base helps keep our housing market fairly stable here.)

Texas is definitely different than Chicago. Particularly in the weather dept. Much milder winters, but brutally hot summers. We do have Austin about 45 min away, and San Antonio is a couple of hours from here so there are some big cities to get to if you so desire.

Decide what you want to do because you can't do it all. There are picture opportunities, villains, trick or treating, dance parties, and rides with small lines. We do candy and rides mostly. There are two parades and Hallo wishes. Skip first parade and do second. Parade is reverse order and starts in Frontierland.

Good advice. Seems like there is so much to do.I'll have to print out the PDF and review with DW. Surprisingly, she acknowledges the advice that comes from this forum!

:rotfl2:
I have scratched my cornea on 2 different occasions. Absolutely brutal. The pain was tolerable but the sensitivity to light was not! I don't have a sound warfare strategy for those evil squirrels, but I do have a sound process for eliminating chipmunks. And it's humane. By humane, I mean they will drown in a bucket of sunflower seeds and water.

I would tell you just to write it that way you’d have gone about telling the story if we were just all sitting around a bonfire (after having consumed a beer or twelve of course), but very few folks read my TRs so I suspect that I’m not the best example to learn from :lmao:
Seems like good advice. I'm hoping to let the pics tell a lot of the story. I can get verbose when I write. Ideally, that won;t be necessary since there will be photos!

Sorry you have that added stress to deal with, Casey. I don't know anything about the Chicago area (other than where you can spend 2 hours waiting for pizza), but I pray that you'll be able to find a good landing spot.

That is good news Andy. I know last year was really tough and am glad this year will be better. Knock Wood.

It does for us, AP!

Yes it does... Every thing works out with an AP or park hopper!

What? Now you're trying to give the kid pink eye from used equipment? Save those for your nemesis.

.

Can't help with the logistics but will say a prayer for you & family.

Woo-hoo!......Oh, that's bad??? BOOOOOOOO!:rotfl2::rotfl2: Let that be a lesson, big brother is always watching. Kind of like Roz.:rotfl2: Always watching.

Good Monsters, Inc reference.

It's not Monday?
Norm has decided 16 year old cousins are OK in KY.
.

Not me. The age of consent in KY is 16. Don't know where cousins part came from.

Good advice. Seems like there is so much to do.I'll have to print out the PDF and review with DW. Surprisingly, she acknowledges the advice that comes from this forum!!

Also, if you want unique merchandise (pin, tshirt), you have to buy it after party starts. Let me know what your family is interested in most and I can be more specific.

I wake up every day and ask myself: "What would Norm do?" :rotfl2: :)

If only the whole world would do that. Then, there would be bliss.

Thanks CJ but the doctor said he shouldn't wear an eye patch. Too bad though, I'm sure the blinged patches would have went over well.

:lmao:
