DIS Dads DDC XXVIII: Stormin’ The Castle Since 2007!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

If the guy said it fell out of his pocket, then I'm guessing bag check ain't catching that weapon anyway. Frankly, if he had a concealed carry permit and was carrying it properly concealed, it is something that the typical crowded Disney security checkpoint isn't going to catch anyway.

I loved the legal comments that all the self-taught lawyers were bringing out on the link you posted. I might actually have to venture out of the safety of the clubhouse to see what all the gun experts on the DIS have to say. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Be careful....and pack a lunch cause it will be a long day :rotfl2:

What about a funeral where you don't know a single person in the room?

Including the deceased?

I'm ready for the weekend. Our big hope for DS was to get him in the "local" (next county south) Civil Air Patrol squadron this fall when he starts 6th grade, but they have disbanded. He needs something to motivate him and show him their is life beyond the hollers of eastern KY. On a positive note, the Dean sent around notice of another 7% budget cut so maybe I won't be in the hollers in the future. :confused3

Hopefully there will be a ray of sunshine in all of this...

A whooooole lotta' fail here....

For the record, this wasn't me..:lmao:

I *DO NOT* carry a weapon into Disney Parks....period.

I got the impression that anything in your hands can be considered a weapon? :confused3:rotfl2:

Yes, and sometimes I feel surrounded by them :rotfl2:

I bought that button with the sound bite a few years ago and brought it to work.:rotfl2:

‘Afternoon all…

On a positive note, the Dean sent around notice of another 7% budget cut so maybe I won't be in the hollers in the future. :confused3

That’s going to be tough. Good luck.

You could call the university I’m sending my boy to next year…
Based on their current tuition requirements multiplied by the expected total of students they really should have plenty left over to share.

The English language lacks the words to even begin to approach an expectable description of the level of idiocy illustrated here…

He: “Didn’t Know!’
:sad2:

And as full of fail as the incident itself is, the ridiculous anonymous commentators are chock-full-o even more of it. I will say I'm actually a bit relieved that the most strident of the commentators say that they now refuse to go to Walt Disney World (because the bonehead who left his loaded gun on DINOSAUR was told not to come back to the park). That's a few fewer numbskulls I'll have to deal with while my family and I are enjoying the theme park.

Fewer numbskulls… this I like.

Based on this, I think I won’t even bother reading the comments.
My levels of stress and exasperation are high enough as it is.

True...the bag search itself is probably mostly window dressing and set up to catch the obvious.

I am, however, getting a great kick out of some of the threads on the boards which are making some wildly inaccurate statements about what certain bullets can/cannot do as well as other various and assorted firearms related comments:rotfl2:

You planning to educate a few of them or is it just not even worth the battle?

I thought I told you Mark was sensitive about that.... :stir:

See. :lmao:

Takes one to know one. :rolleyes1

I strongly recommend AGAINST participating in any of those discussions...:lmao::lmao:

Ask me how I know....:headache::headache::headache::headache:

:faint:

Forget lunch... I'll probably want a drink or 5 though. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Gotta love anonymous internet "experts". They always make me want to pull out this quote:

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Fed, what do you think about all these carry concealed permits? The police officers/ex-military I talk to say that most of these people who get them would never be able to react fast enough to get their gun out of the holster in the event of an actual emergency because they are not trained in stressful situations, only target shooting.

If anyone would feel safe, it should be at WDW. I posted this before, but my dentist picked up his three year old daughter because she was having a tantrum and crying for "mommy". While his whole family was around, since he was walking away and the kid was screaming, he said he was immediately surrounded by security. He said initially he was perturbed, but then understood the reason for it.

Forget lunch... I'll probably want a drink or 5 though. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Drink or 5? Good exact number.

Hey CJ. Glad you had a good trip. Was it really busy on the 24th? It didn't look that bad from the camera, but it was hard to tell how the other areas were. If they continue to have these promotions, we'll get to one eventually.

At the 6 am opening, it wasn't crowded at all. After we got our T-shirt at the Emporium the place was pretty empty. For the first few hours everything was a walk on. We left after lunch and the crowds were noticeably higher. When we got back at night, there were fairly heavy crowds. Aloha Isle had huge lines.

Have you tried GROUPON? Oh sorry, that is the Miami Marlins. Hey CJ, how many people does that shiny new park hold?:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl:

Somewhere around 37,000. I think 50-75 people show up for each game. The upper deck is closed for most games. Tried watching them on TV but just can't. 13 wins this year and on a 7 game losing streak.

A whooooole lotta' fail here....

For the record, this wasn't me..:lmao:

What an idiot. I read that he is now banned from Disney.

Fed, we all know you don't carry when your in the park. There would be too much temptation when you are on Small World.

Are we talking about Fed or Chuck Norris? :confused3 :rotfl2::lmao:

I read some of them. There were several gems including this:

And, seriously, hollow points? Even in a personal defense situation I want to do the minimum damage to get out of that situation.
Really???? Minimum damage????? :faint: If I'm in a situation where I feel my life is in danger and I have to pull a gun for defense, I want to make sure the son of a @#*&$ on the other end doesn't get a chance to take a shot.

But that's just me... :rolleyes1

Does this make sense:confused3

We were going to go to a minor league game tonight, until I looked at what time it started, it starts at 11:05am, now why would you have a game in the morning on a non holiday, middle of the work week & while the kids are still in school:confused3

School is out here. Maybe it was scheduling, Maybe they just don't think there is enough business from parents with school aged children? This is baseball, who resists replay like it's some crazy future invention.

What about a funeral where you don't know a single person in the room?

Funeral Crashers - the Sequel.

hehe... My wife might not like thinking I could replace her with bacon. :)

As much as I like bacon and beer, I'm not sure they could replace DW.

Hey Chicago dads? Can you get decent walk-up tickets to a Cubs day game? Yea, I know, they suck, but I've never been to Wrigley.

I've followed some of those stories where guys have planned to tour the USA and watch baseball games in every stadium. That sounds really fun. Baseball, beer, hot dogs.

Those were the college days. I took a plant anatomy class. Four of us in the class, lab from 2-5 on Friday afternoon of my last semester. Professor had a "slight" drinking problem. We had as much beer in the specimen freezer as we had samples. :lmao:?

Our driver's Ed teacher was a drinker - not a good combination. I did have a different teacher bring a beer to class one time by mistake. I think he meant to grab a coke out his fridge. We had a good laugh at his expense.

That is not good. You going to make it?

I did read a good article about Disney doing background checks and keeping registered sex offenders out of the parks. I don't know why anyone would want to, but can some carry concealed with a permit in WDW?

Takes one to know one. :rolleyes1

I'm rubber and you're glue. Anything you say bounces off me and sticks to you - except good things.

I still can't get over the fact that it just 'fell out of his back pocket'. I am not a gun owner but if I was I would certainly make sure that it was properly holstered somewhere. That kind of carelessness makes me believe this guy shouldn't be allowed to carry period.

Thanks for the update! I'm glad that her first night on the job was a success! I guess there are worse views to have from work than a front row spot for Wishes! :rolleyes1
