DIS Dads DDC XXVII: Penguins in Paradise!

Good morning.

I came to the conclusion last night that I'm too old to keep playing basketball with guys who just graduated from high school. But in all honesty, I don't see that stopping me from trying...

I've never let a little thing like "common sense" stop me before. You just need to play the part of the wise, grizzled veteran. (i.e.: Play dirty.)

Play dirty and develop the outside game. Running from 3 point line to 3 point line is much easier. Shortens the court. Still hoping to get back on the court before the end of our season.

I can see the end of the week on the horizon.

Horizon is about 4 hours away for me today. Weekend starts this afternoon. Thanks to Mother Nature it looks like most of it will be spent shoveling again.

Leaving this Sunday on the Carnival Pride. 7 nights out of Baltimore with stops in Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Freeport.

Cool! That's same cruise that Brian just did I think. We have two cruises with Carnival so far and enjoyed them both. Have fun.

I've got the outside jumper, that isn't a problem.

I take pride in my defense though, and I'm usually patrolling the lane. Anytime I get a defensive board, I'm looking for the outlet pass and hoping somebody is ready to run the floor and get an open layup so I can just stay right there. I still feel like I can pretty much guard anybody on the floor, but I've got to conserve energy and foul hard if I want to do it.

Actually a nice day today. Reasonably warm and sunny and I will be leaving before the next storm arrives. On the way to the airport will be stopping by SH to have lunch with the Pirate Princess Pirate at their cafeteria. May be throwing up on the plane.

Nothing special here on the frozen tundra. This should be the last of the cold spells. We're supposed to get dumped on starting tonight. I have to refill the gas cans. They are completely empty.

I'm still waiting to hear from work on if I got the full time spot.

Agree with this. Even if you have the $$, why not take advantage of keeping it in your pocket a little longer. I have our August trip money saved up, but still plan on letting chase front me the cash for a few months.

I'm playing matador defense. It makes me feel like I'm in the NBA.

I ticked off every joint and mussels in my body last night. Was volunteering up at the high school breaking down and storing risers and what ever else was in the way. We’ve got about 500 kids from all over the area coming in for regional honors band clinics and performances starting Friday and needed to make sure all of them had room to work and practice. It’s amazing how much heavier all that gear has gotten over the years. That must be the problem because it can’t be that I’m just getting older and even more out of shape..

Time for some NSAIDs. I need to buy stock in Motrin.

Last cold spell? I though winter didn’t end up there until mid June.

That’s some strong arguments in your favor.

But we also have plenty of booze and access to the other characters (as a matter of fact… Penelope is making sporadic appearances in my most current pointless-TR).

We also have absolutely no one that is running in, from, or to anything and since we can’t make the trip to WDW in early January, I believe we need our own team for the time being.

I had a really sad conversation with a co-worker yesterday. He is heading out for Florida with his family today and was considering heading to a theme park for a day or two. He told me he was inclined to skip Epcot, because after all,
