Howdy all...

So anyone here been to Destin, FL?

I have an opportunity to spend a week there in late May- early June for about $114.

So just wondering what there is to do... good places to eat...etc.

Nate we might be there at the same time!! We would be arriving June 1 for a week. We have never been either!

Never been, but we have friends that go every year on April vacation and they LOVE it. Always raving about the weather and how beautiful it is. Unfortunately, they moved to St. Louis about a month ago. I'll email them and ask for tips.

We bought the Mickey Mouse and Snow white Swarovski crystal pieces today. DD wanted snow white, but Mickey was too cool to leave sitting in the case. Will upload pics later when we unpack them.

Hope everyone is enjoying President's Day. I'm at work still for the next half hour and then off to the dentist.

Trying to figure out this whole house buying process. DW and I are convinced that we need to move out of our neighborhood into a better area and bigger house. DW bought our current house before we were married and it was her grandparents house so there wasn't any dealing to do and the mortgage is pretty cheap. We re-financed once to put me on the note but we just went through the same bank so it was pretty painless. Anyone have any recent experience in home buying? I am nervous about it all. We know where we want to move and how much the houses there will run but not sure how much the banks will give us. All the online models based on our income, credit worthiness and such say it shouldn't be an issue but I think we are just nervous to take the next step. Anyone had any good or bad experience with getting pre-qualified/pre-approved with any of the online places such as Quicken, Lending Tree, or even Wells Fargo?

The house we are currently needs several projects completed before we can put it on the market. Maybe by June?

Never used any of those lenders. We went through East/West mortgage. Usually a few months after you sign they resell to someone else. I think last time it was Bank of America. The most important thing right now is your credit rating. As long as that is OK, the loan process goes pretty easy and quick. You will need your W2/tax forms and recent pay checks.

With your current house, I would only do the projects if they will increase the value. For example, my BIL replaced all of his kitchen counters with granite to help sell his house. Several people that looked mentioned to the R/E agent that they did not like the color and would change it if they bought. They didn't so far, but $5K wasted. I think most would have preferred the old ones and just made the changes they wanted. When we bought our house, we negotiated those types of things to do them our way.

Good Luck!

I thought it was just the other site... but seems quite over here too.

Let's see if this might stir up some people!

I think Danica is hot. I'm a Stewart fan, not a Gordon one. I haven't kept with NASCAR though, recently.

We went thru Republic Bank. I think it is more a regional bank. Good luck with the search.

Sorry to hear about your friend...

As far as a career as a funeral director, I've thought about it seriously, is not only for the following reason:

I work in IT, and when a friend or family member has a problem with their computer, they call ME!!! :furious:
Is it my problem, you don't run AV software? Or are to cheap to upgrade to something other then a Pentium II processor? No I can't get you licensed software free!!

So if I were a funeral director, I am confident personal requests would minimize, and I would tell everyone "Look, I'm willing to help you ONCE... let me know when you are ready!"

The IT part made me LOL. I work in IT and manage 2 groups of folks. I go through the same thing! But my hands on experience is waning and people just stare at me like a deer in headlights when I say I can't help them. Then they whine about having to take to a local PC place that charges them $85. SMH.

This weekend we finally booked our trip. We are booked from September 29th through October 9. We plan on using my parent's time share but because it is a transfer we have to wait until we are like 90 days out. So we just booked all of the trip at AOA and will change once we're booked into the timeshare.
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Now to wait for airfare to get published. :headache:
Not so patiently awaiting to book our October trip. We have to wait until March 12th to book our trip for Oct. 12th -19th.

Then the Aulani reservation came through. Even with us renting DVC points, it's a lot more expensive than the other accommodations I was looking at. So I went to my kids to ask if they wanted to do the Canada weekend trip or use the money to stay at Aulani, and--

"Aulani!"

So you can see where their priorities are. :rotfl2:
!

We can't blame the children for the sins of the father. :rotfl2:

Evening guys. Busy day at work today. Glad to be home. :thumbsup2

re. Danica; She is hot. :thumbsup2
