In my city in KY, people are already buying out the stores for milk, eggs, and bread to make French Toast in the week they think they will be snowed in here.
I figured they'd be buying all the whiskey and bourbon.

after almost 32 years i think ive herd everything.:lmao:
the best one was last winter, i was at the counter in the store, a guy comes in and shows me a picture of what is called a HOT SURFACE IGNIGHTER. (remember that name) i said we had two of them and i went back and brought one up to show him. he tried to pick it up and i told him, you never touch the element part of the ignighter. the oils on your hand can cause them to burn out when power is put to them.(remember that little bit of instruction). he paid $100 for it and out the door he went.
came back 2 hours later with his hand wrapped in gauze about 4 inches thick.:confused3 he said, do you have another one, i dropped this one. sure i said. i asked what happened to your hand? he said he has to get to the e.r. but has to get his family heat first. here, (now remember the name of the part and the little bit of instruction i gave him) he plugged it into the boiler, wanted to see if it would light before putting all back together, turn the switch on!!! HE WAS HOLDING IT BY THE ELELEMENT!!!!!! that part glows red hot in about 1 1/2 seconds as soon as 24 volts is sent to it. it burn his flesh off to the bone on his two fingers!!!!!!
now, we are talking about an adult human, with thumbs. why on gods green earth would you hold something in your hand called a HOT SURFACE IGNIGHTER and PLUG IT IN???????
didnt want to pay someone to do it. so let see, you have spent $200 on a part,on your way to the e.r. and you still have no heat!!!!
so thats my hot surface ignighter story.:lmao:
That is hilarious!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I just don't think I will get the $100 value out of it on our march trip (only good for WDW) we have 3 ADRs for 3 adults and a child, and will try for BOG QS (isn't covered), I've roughly figured out we would prob get the cost of the card back but is the 20% discount before or after gratuity?
20% off the bill... then the tax & 18%included tip on the difference.

Don't do anything stupid on the Dream. We're getting on it as soon as you get get off - March 7th. Try to keep it clean, would you?
:rotfl::rotfl:

We'll be there the week after - 10th - 15th. You still around?
Should I book my tickets now? I need my free Dole Whip. :rolleyes1

Just booked Old Key West August 4-8th. Wait-listed Boardwalk Villas. The only plans we have so far is Hollywood Studios on the 5th. Feel free to join us on any of our 13 rides on Tower of Terror. :thumbsup2
OKW.. got it.

As I mentioned earlier, I was looking to also do this trip... was talking about this summer, but your post got me thinking... so I checked into an earlier cruise to escape the winter... and well...

WE JUST BOOKED!!!

We are going in 2 weeks... February 10 - got a balcony room. :cool1:  :cool1:

Congrats :thumbsup2

Happy Frigid Friday Morning All!

Still swamped here at work, we have meetings once a week where I realize that I still have way to much to do and not enuff time to do it in.

But, the weekend is nigh upon us, and I only need 1 hour to have my 40 in for the week!:thumbsup2

Matt

I do not these early morning, David, how do you do it on a regular basis??:lmao:

I should be working, but 2 inches of snow coming is so I am cancelling my trip to a grant writing workshop down in south-central KY which means I just found an extra 8 hours. With 2 inches of snow the office will be closed if the forecast is correct but that just means I get to turn up the radio when I get in. Living this close to the office has its advantages and disadvantages.

Shutting down for 2 inches? C'mon that's just a light dusting here...:lmao:

Still not much on the way of snow here...roads are extremely dry. All the salt laid down for the ice has been crushed by cars into dust, a lot of the roads and sidewalks look like they are covered in white chalk. There are times on the busy roads where all the dust gets kicked up, and it looks hazy, it cannot be too healthy to breathe in :scared::crazy2:

Excited for Amelia tonight, she is going on her first Brownies camping trip, about an hour or so north of here. :cool1: Figure they'll have snow there, all sort of winter activities planned. Got her all packed up last night.

Have a good day guys..

Good morning ownage
No we are only there for a long weekend 1-3, but if I knew all the neat stuff about the flower and garden , I may of pushed to go later (I want a dole whip with rum and to play in the OZ playground :( ) but according to touring plans MK should be a 5.7 on the 2nd and Epcot a 1.6 on the 3rd so if it is that should be really cool

Good morning fellow dads, hope all is well, about to get ready for work reluctantly haha but I gotta see how daycare is since county schools are closed due to freezing rain

Flower and Garden is cool. You have 40 years of trips to work it in. We are cancelled today. No school.

We have no snow and are cancelled. Looks like we'll be going to school until June.

Oh ya- we are celebrating Barry's anniversary then too. We are in for ToT on the 5th. 13 rides in one day? Deal

Only problem with that is the line. TOT has one of the longest lines.

it.

We keep stocked on Bourbon at all times, so no rush. As for TiW, there is a really good posting on The DVC Mousecellaneous page. With the card, you buy $100 for meal, reduced $20, then $17. tip, plus tax for $103 bill. Without the card, you buy $100 for meal, $18 for tip, plus tax is a $$123 bill. Since the card costs $100, after 5 meals, you break even at $20 per pop. Now, if you don't tip, then the formula changes. If you buy bigger meals or drinks, then it does as well.

Top of the morning gentlemen!!

Happy Friday :cool1:

Hey David.

Morning Guys!

The question of the day:

I have four, so we easily spend $100 a meal. How many are you traveling with? It is also good at QS and bars. The card is good for a year, but i don't think it works at DL. Also, If you get the card, then only you can pay the bill (with credit, debit card) because names have to match up.

We will be there August 4-11 at animal kingdom lodge. See you there

Which did you get -Kidani or Jambo? Which view and room size?

Not self inflicted. Still a holdover from when I was sick on the trip. It came back with a vengeance. Was able to eat something for the first time in a couple of days. Feeling better.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Not going to make any promises. We'll wave as we get off.
Excellent. I'll start practicing now.

Should I book my tickets now? I need my free Dole Whip. :rolleyes1
Sure. Your ticket is already taken care of, so it's just flight, hotel and food. It makes perfect sense to pay $800 to get a free $4 Dole Whip.

Excited for Amelia tonight, she is going on her first Brownies camping trip, about an hour or so north of here. :cool1: Figure they'll have snow there, all sort of winter activities planned. Got her all packed up last night.
Igloo building and Polar Bear 'rasslin'? Have fun Amelia!

Bummer. I've heard about the OZ playground, but I'll need to look into it a bit further. And I'll report back on the Rum Dole Whip. :thumbsup2

That's true, but I think we can do it. So far, every Monday in June and July is Evening EMH at the Studios, so it's not far of a stretch to assume that August 5 will be as well - giving us 14 hours to work with. I figure we can get in there at RD, grab FPs with our two tickets, the kids' 2 tickets and my in-laws tickets and get maybe 3 rides in before the wait gets too bad. So that's 6 rides right there - almost half way to our goal before lunch. Another round of FPs when the window opens and a few standby rides and we can be at 10 or 11 before dinner time. Wait times should decrease during Fantasmic, so I think my crazy plan just might be crazy enough to work. Luckily, the bathrooms are right next to the ride so we cut down on unnecessary walks!:rotfl2:

Yea, it is called Florida. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'd love to borrow Florida! When do you need it back?

Darcy, sounds like a great opportunity to leave a "gift" for Barry in his room! :thumbsup2

:crazy2: You wouldn't get me on that once :crazy2:

TTA is my speed.

Finally, I found another DISDad with some proper perspective.

I would definitely tell the CM's what you're up to. I bet they'd do anything in their power to help you out, or even arrange something special.

Ooooohhh! I love gifts! Maybe some nice little chocolates. Or a Baby Ruth bar or something.

I would definitely tell the CM's what you're up to. I bet they'd do anything in their power to help you out, or even arrange something special.
I plan on it. When I called DVC to book the room the CM asked if we were celebrating anything, so I told her it was our 13th wedding anniversary and wre going to ride ToT 13 times. She about fell out of her chair she was so excited by the idea.
I'm also going to have some shirts made up commemorating the event and plan on taking a small white board or something so we can write the ride number on it and take a picture every time we get on.

As I mentioned earlier, I was looking to also do this trip... was talking about this summer, but your post got me thinking... so I checked into an earlier cruise to escape the winter... and well...

:confused3 It never seems to be too long whenever I'm there. Maybe 15 - 45 minutes when you've got TSMM and RnR at 60+. FP's usually aren't gone too far out either, so I'd say between standby and FP's is should be doable.

Sure. Your ticket is already taken care of, so it's just flight, hotel and food. It makes perfect sense to pay $800 to get a free $4 Dole Whip.
No... it would be $800 for a free Dole Whip AND a trip to Disney World.

The Dole Whip is just that extra bit of incentive.

And if you think it would just be 1 $4 Dole Whip... :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

That's true, but I think we can do it. Really, I don't think it will be too difficult at all. Especially if you're going to have 3 pairs of FP to use. Nobody goes down Sunset Blvd at RD anymore, so you could probably have 3 - 4 rides in and a second round of FP's in pocket within about the first hour and a half.

I would definitely tell the CM's what you're up to. I bet they'd do anything in their power to help you out, or even arrange something special.
Even if he doesn't, I'm sure they'll wonder what's up after about the 4th or 5th time through. :rotfl2::rotfl:

Wow, you really have this planned out well. Good luck.

I just wish you could take Mark with you. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Morning gentlemen.

Felt terrible all afternoon yesterday. Took some NyQuil and I feel better this morning. You'd think I'd have learned by now not to go out side without a hat when it is below zero out.

Does anyone know when Southwest will be posting their October airfares? I'm getting anxious about booking everything.

Have a good day guys..

I grew up east of Erie PA in the snow belt. Snow of 100 inches a year was nothing unusual. I'm more scared to drive in 1/2 inch here than I ever was living there. Our county snow removal consists of a pickup with a blade on the front and a salt box. Even if they get salt down in the hollers you may not see the sun so it needs to be warm enough for it to melt the ice. If it doesn't work you have ice on the side of a mountain with a river or creek at the bottom. Two people I work with have lost relatives that way. :scared1:

Hope the Brownie camping goes well for Amelia. We are just finishing up cookie sales. Didn't push it too hard this year once we realized it would have been cheaper to just donate to the troop rather than buy up all the extra cookies that the troop had to take.

Great idea! Barry, what cabin are you in?
6668. I can't wait to see what it is! :woohoo:

Does anyone know when Southwest will be posting their October airfares? I'm getting anxious about booking everything.
Southwest usually posts flights about 8 months out. They have the first part of August up now, so I would expect October airfares around March or so.
